“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Bronzing Powder / Subcategory: Enhancer „
I have a few Body Shop make up products that I mostly tend to use in summer for a lighter more natural look than my normal make up. One of these is the Body Shop Glow Enhancer that I have been using for a few years now.
The glow enhancer is like a tinted moisturiser that is meant to add some slight colour to your face, even out your skin tone and make it glow. Its lightweight, moisturising liquid formulation provides a natural-looking sheer radiance that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, even out skin tone and instantly brighten the complexion. It can be worn alone as an alternative to foundation, or applied over foundation to add a subtle sheen to the face and body.
The enhancer comes in three different shades - 01, 02 and 03 and I use 02, which is a medium shade. Unless you have naturally good skin it is probably only suitable to be used in the summer when you have a bit of a tan and don't need to use a foundation. I tend to use it with a light BB cream underneath it, which gives it a bit more depth.
The enhancer comes in a plastic tube with a shiny bronze screw on lid and shiny bronze detailing at the top. This makes it look very summery. On undoing the lid it is easy to squeeze the glow enhancer out of the tube. It is quite runny when it comes out so you need to be careful that you only squeeze a small amount out at a time or it will be running down your fingers.
On applying the glow enhancer it easily smooths over my skin and sinks in quickly. I find sometimes I have to apply a second application to increase the coverage as it is very light. The colour is not heavy at all or orange so it looks very natural, and straight away it makes my skin look really healthy and glowing adds just a touch of colour. All I need is to add a bit of blusher and lip gloss for a very light summer look.
You can also use the glow enhancer just to highlight certain sections of your face such as your cheekbones and this works especially well if you buy the lightest shade 01
Overall I love this glow enhancer and always take it away with me when I am on holiday in place of a foundation. I have just found out that the Body Shop have discontinued it which I am very upset about but hopefully the tube I have got will last me another few summers as I only opened it a few months ago. You can also still buy it on EBay for about £10.
This review might also be posted on Ciao under my username Star20000
I bought the tinted glow enhancer on a whim a few days back when browsing through my local Body shop & am pleased I did.
The glow enhancer comes in a 25ml tube & is available in two shades 02 medium & 03 dark. It contains Marula oil from the South African Marula tree which is has good moisterising properties. It also contains fatty acids which help to repair the skin's moisture barrier, vitamin E & Panthenol.
It claims to provide a sheer radiance & to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
It can be worn alone or over foundation.
As I have fair skin I chose shade 02.
Although it looks pretty much like a foundation it is quite runny & so once applied is very sheer with a slight hint of colour. I find only a little is needed & apply mine after foundation on cheeks, a dab on my chin & below eyebrow bone, though of course this can be used anywhere you wish to glow!
I've found that it doesn't really minimise fine lines & it is only slightly moisterising but it does add a healthy, dewy glow to the skin & for this I recommend it.
Also at £12 the price may seem a little high for only 25mls but a little goes a long way
This product was an impulse buy and I don't really think I've got my money's worth. It cost £10.50 which is quite excessive for a product that only really works to accentuate a few small areas (cheek bones, eye sockets, etc).
It has a runny consistency and looks very similar to a foundation. However it is only used to enhance or highlight certain areas, it isn't advised that you put it all over your face. If you do apply too much of the product you end up looking patchy and orange, so you have to apply it sparingly and preferably over your foundation.
I have used this product to accentuate certain areas of my face and although it creates a slight shimmer I don't think this product makes a massive difference to your overall look. Personally I don't wear lots of makeup on a day-to-day basis, I only wear this if I'm trying to create an intense look, so I only use it when I am going for a night out.
This certainly isn't a makeup essential, but it easy to apply (with your fingers) and it does create a nice glow. If you are looking for a highlighter then I'm sure this would do the job, but personally I don't think it is worth the £10.50 price tag.
I have always been a very big fan of The body shop products, but I have been very apprehensive on paying the very steep prices for these products, this was until I got some of the products for Christmas.
As a Christmas gift from my best friend I got what you can only call a body shop hamper, within this basket I got cleaner, toner, moisturizers and make-up. I have had a try with everything and I can now proudly say I will pay the excessive prices as the products are really very good.
As my skin is looking really dull and patchy at the moment the product that has really impressed me so far is the glow enhancer.
This amazing product is a foundation and a consealer in one, once it has been applied it leaves the skin looking flawless with a shimmer tint to it.
This comes in three different shades so you can get one to suit any skin type, this has light reflecting partials which give you an instant glow, it can be used all over the face of on certain areas like the cheeks, nose and brow lines to enhance your features.
*****Applying the Product*****
Apply the product with a make-up sponge to ensure a nice even coverage, I tend to dame my make up sponge first as this stops the product being absorbed into the sponge and it will therefore go further.
A small pea size amount is needed for each application so this little tube will last for a very long time.
This comes in a 25ml plastic squeezable tube, that can be recycled and allows you to get the product out of the tube efficiently without making a mess and this is also very good for eliminating waste.
This can be purchased from the body shop for the price of 12.00 which is very excessive from a make-up consealer and before I had actually tried this I would never have paid it, but now I realize that it is worth every penny as it will last a long time as only small amounts are used at a time and this really is a very good product.
This has worked wonders for my skin and it now looks less patchy, the thing that has drawn me to this product is the fact that it does not rub off during the day and the shimmer glow leaves my skin looking healthy at all times.
For such a little tube this is very expensive but I would recommend this to anyone as it really is a great product, I am so happy my friend bought me this as she has opened my eyes that the price certainly reflects the quality of an item.
In these dull and dreary winter months, my skin takes a hammering and I am always on the look out for products to both compliment my skin tone and make me looks less pale and patchy.
One this occasion no matter what foundation or consealer I tried, Nothing was stopping the washed out grey look that many of us seem to support this time of year, What makes I worst is the fact I have just retuned from holiday and my tan I disappearing rapidly, which really does not help my skin situation as I look very patchy.
On one of my regular visits to The Body Shop, I found a simply solution I this Tinted glow enhancer.
This is a product that is brilliant for all skin types and tones, it is a basically cream foundation that contains shimmer particles to give you an instant glow.
It is a very long lasting product that gives you a nice even coverage, but it looks really natural at the same time. This is the 02 shade which has a slight tint to it, so it will not cover stops and blemishes, but it will give you a very slight cover that glimmers ever so slightly.
The product has worked wonders and has really brightened up my dull patchy complexion, leaving it evenly toned and I will swear that it has even reduced the little fine lines that are appearing ever so rapidly.
This is very runny in texture so the application can be very tricky, as the product just slops out of the tube with out any real effort, so I would advise that you only squeeze the tube gently as too much product will be dispensed and you will have no choice but to wash it down the sink.
To apply this put a small bead sized amount on to a damp make- up sponge, this will blend the tinted enhancer evenly into your face, with out leaving it patchy. I tried to apply this with a dry sponge but the results were not as precise as a damp one, so this is very advisable for a perfect application.
As this is not very dark in colour I tend to mix it with my normal consealer, this way I get the colour I like and it shimmers at the same time.
If you don't wear consealer then you can also apply this to cheek bones and the bridge of you nose just to enhance certain areas. I personally use this as a bronzing pearl replacement, which I tend to use as a blusher, as it highlights my features perfectly without being over the top.
The product comes in a 25ml plastic squeezable tube that is roughly 5 inches in length, so it is ideal to carry in your hand bag. It has a small pin hole in the top where the product is dispensed when the tube is slightly squeezed.
The product I kept safe and fresh by a gold screw top lid and all of the packaging can be fully recycled.
PRICE / AVAILABILITY
This can be purchased from any Body Shop store or online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk and you can expect to pay 12.00 for a 25ml tube.
The body shop have three main colours 01 which is white it colour and only adds shimmer to the skin, this is more like a body glitter as it will not tint your skin at all.
02 is the shade I have got, it is only slightly tinted for fair skin.
03 is a dark tinted version and ideal for darker skin tones.
These have been so popular and sold out really quickly, so The Body Shop has now released a pink tinted version as a limited edition product.
This tinted glow enhancer can replace any foundation, providing you don't have major blemish issues, not only will it moisturise but it also leaves you with a natural tinted glow.
Again the body shop have made this with these main ingredients, Marula oil which helps when applying the product as it just seems to glide on effortlessly and it intensively adds moisture to the skin.
Vitamin E, that nourishes and protects the skin, leaving it silky soft and really smooth to touch. Anything with Vitamin E in it prevent my skin from becoming very dry.
The other ingredients include Water, Octyl Palmitate, Cyclomethicone, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate, Glycerin, Marula Oil, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Silica, Steareth-2, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-20, Benzyl Alcohol, Boron Nitride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Methylparaben, Panthenol, Ceteareth-20, Dimethicone, Phenyl Methicone, Sodium Acrylate Taurate Copolymer, Propylparaben, Isohexadecane, Xanthan Gum, Butylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Ethylparaben, Polysorbate 80, Isobutylparaben, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Oleate, Talc, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines.
On first impressions, this tinted glow enhancer looks like any other consealer as you can't even see the shimmer until the product has been applied and it had dried, so you have to be careful not to apply to much.
After this has been applied it lasts the whole day and I need to remove in the evening with a make-up remover, usually a consealer wears off over a certain period of time, but this lasts and I am very pleased with the results I get when I wear it.
The only down side it the fact that I will not cover spots and blemishes, but in this case I mix it with a stronger coloured consealer. Yes it does dilute the shimmer particles, but these are still visible.
This is great as it is not tested on animals and I made up of many natural ingredients, the fact that it supports the community trade programes is another plus to buy and using this product.
I think it is an ideal day and night make-up, during the day I only use a small amount on my cheek area but in the evening I really glam up by applying it to the whole of my face.
I would recommend this to anyone, who is looking and even feeling dull and dreary, it will instantly give you the boost that we all need now and then.
Body Shop sell two different types of glow enhancers - one is the white liquid which is only there to add a subtle glow; and the other which is slightly tinted to add a bit of color and glow. I have actually bought both and I use them for different situations. The tinted glow enhancer is ideal instead of foundation for everyday use, it is a sort of tinted moisturizer with a bit of glow. It doesn't add too much glow so it is fine for day wear. It doesn't give too much coverage though, so it is ideal for a fresh faced look. It is also ideal for travel as it isn't too big, wont' take up masses of space in my travel bag and is great for everyday use. The non-tinted glow enhancer I use either over foundation or mixed in with the foundation I want to use (just mix a bit of both on the sponge and apply) whenever I want a bit more cover but still sheer and with a bit of glow. I use this for going out, mainly as I don't use foundation much anyway during the day. I think they are both quite good and value for money, although I can't quite remember how much I paid for them but they have lasted for quite a while and I am very pleased with the results.
The glow enahncer comes in a flat tube an it caught my eye as I have never plucked up the courage to spend about £16.00 on the Lancome Maquisuberbe which everyone raves about so decided to go for the cheaper option. This product comes out in a runny cream consistency and is fairly light in colour when you apply it to your skin it leaves a faint shimmer and just gives you a bit of a glow so you can even wear it to work without looking over the top. You can wear it under or over your foundation or on it's own, I have also used it as a highlighter for my blusher. I really like this product it's reasonably priced at apprx £5.00 and I expect it to last me about 6 months.
The Body Shop Glow Enhancer comes in a 30ml white tube - with a creamy solution as the enhancer ....it costs approx £3.00 per tube...the cream is a more watery consistency, but feels comfortable on the skin...when smoothed on the outside of your hand it can be seen to be alittle pink in shade, but when smoothed on the skin doesnot appear any different than the your normal skin coloouring....it makes the skin shine alittle and smells very plasticly...not one i would recommend as it doesnot add 'glow to the face
