... as difficult to use (you usually end up with too much on,no matter how much care you take in applying it) They have an opaque sort of sheen to them and give your lips a bit of colour depending on which one you use, which can be annoying if you only want a balm not a gloss or colour. A couple of them did soften my lips, but only for a short time and with no long-lasting effect - a few actually dried my lips out,as well. They cost around £3.00 which is probably average for a good lip balm - however,I think the qual...more

Premium Review The Body Shop Lip Balms: Rich Plum Shimmer Lip Balm (716 words)

I am something of an addict to my regular lip balm, but occasionally people give me other balms as presents, and as such I feel obliged to use them. Such was the case with The Body Shop Rich Plum Shimmer Lip Balm. I have a feeling that this was one of The Body Shop's line of Christmas Products, so it may not be available all year round. Getting straight down to it, I would describe the texture of the balm as very greasy, not creamy or waxy as some other lip products. The balm is a very rich, deep purple colour, and the slightly lighter shade of purple shimmer is visible in the pot. The standard container of this balm contains 10mL of the product. The product ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Born lippy (638 words)

A BIT ABOUT THE COMPANY One of my only life essentials is lip balm, especially in the winter. My mouth gets dry and cracked and disgusting without it, and I have various different brands including vaseline carmex and nivea balms, but so far my favourite is probably this, the body shop's born lippy lip balm. This is the body shop's slightly cheaper lip balm against the much posher lip butter, but for everyday use I would say this is far better. The body shop promise cruelty free natural products, not tested on animals and using natural fair trade ingredients. This would be all well and good if they hadn't slightly ruined their good image lately by selling ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Body Shop Lip Balms: I was born lippy! (1040 words)

About a month ago I developed a bad patch of dry skin on my lower lip, right on the edge. It was getting rather sore which wasn't that nice, so I started to put on Vaseline, which was my usual lip saver. I was putting a thick layer on before going to bed each night and although it was making my lips feel much softer and smoother this stubborn patch wasn't improving at all. So I decided the only real way to deal with it was to use something through the day as well as at night to try and get rid of it. The reason I was using the Vaseline at night only was because I don't like it, the smell and feel of it I find repulsive but I put up with it at night to try and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lip Lickin good! (422 words)

Don't get me wrong, The Body Shop is a fantastic store and it has wonderful products and a great range of make-up, but it's always been a little too excessively priced for my liking. So when I ran out of Vaseline (one of my old beauty fave's) The body Shop wasn't exactly my first port of call. But since my friend had talked about her newly purchased Orange lip balm non-stop for about 15 minutes I thought I would take a peek (ha-ha) around. The smell is always gorgeous in the store and the smell of strawberries lured me over to the lip balm display. There were so many different smells and colours I wanted to try them all, but I had to reach for my ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Body Shop Lip Balms: Strawberry Lips Forever (667 words)

Alas, the hot weather is here again and, as in winter, lips can become quite dry and parched, looking chapped, dehydrated, and well, not very nice at all. Wanting to avoid lips that resemble over-stretched sultanas, I found that the Body Shop came to my salvation with their little pot of wonderment, the Born Lippy Lip Balm which promises ?lip smackin?? lips which are soft and moisturised. The pot itself is a relatively small transparent container with a screw-top lid, housing 10mls of luscious, brightly coloured balm. It is available in the following four shades/flavours: Last Strawberry; Lime; Mandarin and Passionberry (red; green; orange and purple hues ...  Read the complete review
