Advantages: Smells lovely, nice pot!
Disadvantages: Gritty texture, expensive
I was given some of the body shop's mandarin lip balm for christmas and I hardly ever use it because it's a bit too gritty formy liking. The smell of it is fab, really fruity and delicious, the sort of thing you really want to scoop out of the pot and eat, but that'd be silly. It smells really rich and citrussy. Just oozing "mandarin", it smells natural. When I put it on, I was quite disappointed because it was very gritty. You can feel the texture of it between your lips, which feels a bit manky. One other thing I'd say is that it's quite, well, colourful too, and if you're unlucky, it can colour your lips. The orange in the one I bought was fine, but if you go for a redder version you look rather tarty as a result, and the yellow and green versions are interesting to say the least. My boyfriends loves the smell of mandarin, and so I'm not worried about wearing it when he's about, apart from the fact that it's gritty. For sure, other shops versions of this are far better, much more sensuous and smooth, but unfortunately, not as lovely to smell! I'd go elsewhere if I were you. It's more pleasant and far far cheaper.

- 31/08/01 you might just have been given one from an old batch. I've got the same one and it's gorgeous. But I did once keep a mango body butter for two years and that went gritty over time. |
