The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain
Advantages: Long lasting
Disadvantages: On the expensive side
I have been a big fan of The Body Shop for many years but have mostly stuck to purchasing body and hair care items. I was in one of their larger stores whilst out shopping a few weeks ago to pick up some of my favorite body butters when the make up section caught my eye. I ended up treating myself to a couple of Body Shop Make up products, one of these being a Lip and Cheek Stain, which I am reviewing today.
The Lip and Cheek Stain is available in two shades, (01) Rose Pink and (02) Bronze Glimmer, I chose the latter as I felt it was a versatile colour that could be worn casually in the daytime but would also be suitable for going out too.
The tube is much like any regular lipgloss, the main body is clear and the colour of the stain is therefore visable through it. The lid is silver and screws off to reveal the attached wand which is used to apply the stain to the lips and cheeks. The tube gives very little information other than the brand and product name along with the use by date of 12 months and that it contains 8ml. There is also a clear circular sticker on the bottom of the tube giving the shade number.
Directions for use are simple and quite obvious, the stain is simply applied to the lips and/or cheek using the wand, i tend to use my finger to blend in the product once applied.
I really love this Lip and Cheek stain and have used it most days since buying it. I have only applied the stain to my cheeks a couple of times and whilst I do like the look I much prefer it on the lips. I tend to apply one coat of this over my regular chapstick in the mornings and feel it gives a really subtle natural look which I like. However, it is simple to get a more intense look by applying more, I find this makes it a really versatile product. When first applied the stain feels slightly sticky but this dries quickly. The colour stays for quite sometime so I very rarely feel the need to reapply more than one or twice a day. I have had no problems with irritation with this product nor have I found it to dry out my lips. I find this effortless to use and it has been quickly incorporated into my morning make up routine. Similar to most lipsticks and lipglosses I have found this ideal for carrying around in my handbag, since the lid is securely screwed closed I and have had no problem with the product leaking.
The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain cost £10, which I do find on the expensive side, and this is much more than I would usually spend on a product like this. However, I do feel it is a quality item and one which I have been really pleased with. Even though I have been using it most days I feel it will still last me sometime to come. I am really interested in trying the Rose shade as well and will be picking one of these up next time I get a chance.
Summary: A quality lip and cheek stain, perfect for any occasion
