I don't often buy make up from The Body Shop but when I bought this I was very impressed with it so recommend it to you!
It is a lip stick but it comes in a very long slim tube a bit like a mascara and it has an air of luxury about it. Far more luxurious than using a typical little tube of lipstick.
This comes in various colours. The one I have is a pale pink but there are other shades available too.
The tube that it comes in is long and slim and metallic. To use the lip stick you just twist it upwards. At first it has a typical flat edge and sadly the twisting up of it doesn't create that again but I have found that once it becomes rounded you can make that flat edge again if you just change the angle you apply it with. The lip stick easily twists back down when you have finished with it too.
The colour goes onto your lips really easily. It smooths on and you don't need to apply much pressure. I really dislike lipsticks which are hardwork and mean you have to have very dry lips for it to work or you need to press on hard- this lipstick isn't like that at all. You just glide the stick over your lips and the colour goes on with ease.
The shade is perfect, it goes well with my skin tone and stays on well. I find that it doesn't withstand the drink test too well- when I have had a few sips of drink it does come away a bit but nowhere near as much as other brands that I have used. If I am not drinking then it will stay on for a good few hours although I do keep it in my bag so I can reapply it if necessary.
This lip colour is lovely, it feels very soft on the lips and quite a natural colour tone too so you don't feel as though you look like a clown! It just looks subtle but effective which is exactly what I look for in a lip stick.
I really recommend this, I can't find any faults with it and I'm pleased that I came across it. I will be using more body shop make up in future
This lip colour really isn't anything special. It is soft and feels nice on the lips, but the ruby colour that I bought didn't provide me with a fantastic colour when I first applied it and it wasn't particularly long lasting either. I also found that the colour bled into my face once I'd applied it so I'd recommend a good lip liner if you are planning on buying this item.
You do get quite a lot of lipstick for your money and I did find teh packaging quite "user friendly". You can twist the lipstick down into the packaging once you've applied which seems to prevent it from snapping. It also has a designer look to it, it is a nice silver colour, it's quite sturdy and you wouldn't be embarrassed to apply this product in public.
The Body Shop prides itself on the quality of ingredients. This lipstick contains: avocado oil - to moisturise the skin, also helping to prevent moisture loss; and vitamins A and E - antioxidants that help to soften, condition and protect the skin. Usually the product ingredients encourage me to buy from the Body Shop range, but in this case I think they may have hindered the product because it was too moist at first, then it started to crack; it didn't apply particularly well and it didn't last long at all.
In my opinion these lip colours are aimed at an older market and my mum or gran might very well enjoy using it, but it wasn't for me.
For £9 I want a lipstick that comes in a nice colour, lasts a while and looks good in my makeup bag. This lipstick didn't tick the boxes for me and I won't be buying it again.
Available in several different (rather cool )) shades, this lipstick comes in a chrome case. It can be pulled up by turning the bottom part around (like in case of any other lipstick). It sure is a stick with a thin pencil like packaging.
I am a big fan of The Body Shop and have tried many of it's products but mostly skin care products. It was the first time that I tried their make up. Earlier I had used their conventional lipstick and now I tried this sheer lip colour.
I didn't feel anything different with this lipstick although it claims to be smooth as far as the application is concerned. If you are looking for an easy to carry lipstick, this is good enough but it can leave the cracks on the lips more visible rather than smoothening them out when applied.
I tried the ruby colour which was good for day use and night use alike. The colour choices are plenty. The price is a bit too much for this regular sized lipstick. Mine came in for 9 pounds. If I have to spend this much, I would rather go in for a revlon/l'oreal and I can buy two of those for the same price on special offers.
I would not really suggest any of you lipstick lovers to go in for this one unless you really have to splurge and make a collection just for the heck of it.
These lipsticks are available in several different shades, but this review is going to refer mainly to the 01 shade, which is a salmon pink colour.
To open the lipstick, you simply pull the lid off. To apply the lipstick, you need to twist the bottom around. The colour is quite nice, but it can take a few minutes of application to get an even coverage. If my lips are not very well moisturised beforehand, the lipstick can stick predominantly to any cracks, so it is often a good idea to have used a lip balm before you apply this. When my lips are not dry or cracked, the colour goes on smoothly and gives an even finish. This particular shade does not give a very intense colour and is more of a subtle, sheer shade. I've yet to try any of the other shades available as they don't look like they would suit my colouring so I can't really comment on the rest of the range.
Would I Recommend This Lipstick?
If you're looking for decent lipstick that can be applied smoothly and tends to last for 1-2 hours before coming off (provided you don't use your lips in any form!), this is probably a good bet. However, I seem to remember that these lipsticks are pretty expensive, and a quick check on The Body Shop website confirms that they cost £9. Even when you factor in the fact that they are supposed to be moisurising lipsticks that contain avocado oil, Vitamin A and Vitamin E, I wouldn't recommend them highly enough to warrant the high price tag. Having used plenty of other lipsticks in the past, there are others that do as good a job (or better).
I have two of these lipsticks and love them!
In total there are five shades.
01 Pink. This is a Barbie pink shade.
02 Guava. This is a deep pink almost purple when you look at it in its packaging.
05 Ruby. Yes you guessed it this is red.
06 Blush. A deep pink, without the purple tendency.
07 Caramel. This is a taupe colour.
Yes, I am sure you noticed and think that I cannot count but you are wrong, I can 03 and 04 are missing from the list, they must have been discontinued at some point.
As all the shades are very sheer do not think of them as being solid but a wash of colour so even though Guava actually sounds like it is not wearable and scary but it really isn't. I own Guava and it gives a great sheer pink to the lips and is in no way over the top once on, it doesn't show up much at all..
I also own Blush and this is such a good shade for a natural barely there look as it is quite close to my natural lip colour. Out of the two I would actually say that Blush has more colour to it once on.
As they are sheer they don't give a matt solid look so don't look dated but very fresh, they are easy to apply straight from the stick or with your fingers or with a lip brush.
Each lipstick contains just 2.1g and although that doesn't sound like much it will last quite a long time. They are all £9.00 each which isn't a horrendous price for what I consider to be a great lipstick.
They contain Avocado oil, which conditions your lips and makes them softer just from using a lipstick! I have had lipsticks in the past that have dried my lips out, never a nice experience! This really does make a difference, even while you are wearing this you can tell the difference and it is a pleasant feeling on your lips. They also contain vitamins A and E, which are antioxidants to condition, soften and protect your lips from the elements.
This doesn't last all long on your lips with eating, kissing and drinking but I think they are probably my favourite lipsticks. They do last longer than gloss but are not as shiny as gloss they are a middle ground between the two.
The packaging is sleek silver, they are long and thin rather than short and stubby. Not a bad edition to any handbag and they certainly don't look like cheap lipsticks, rather chic.
Overall I highly recommend this product and they have a colour to suit all tastes even though there are only five to choose from.
The Body Shop is involved with many charities and foundations, information on these can be found through links on their website. None of their products are tested on animals. They also run their own version of fair trade, which they call community trade, they pay fair prices to farmers of the ingredients they buy. Details of their community trade programme can also be found on their website.
The website is very user friendly and means not only can you buy online (good P&P charges and fast delivery) but you can also find out more about their products and find out where your local store is situated.
