I recently found this Body Shop sparkle lip gloss in an old handbag so have started to use it again. I can't remember how much I paid for it as it was quite some time ago but I have had a look online and you can get similar ones for around £5.
What makes this lip gloss a bit different is the small sparkly bits in it which leave your lips looking glittery and sparkly. I would say that this is a gloss to wear on the evening for special occasion as I would probably choose a normal gloss for the daytime. The tube is 13ml and has a silver screw top which is as wide as the tube so it is plenty big enough to open and close and the top of the lid is flat so you can stand it up on the lid.
There is a wand which you use to apply the gloss which has the usual sponge applicator. To use I will turn the wand in the tube and then apply it to my lips. I don’t like to wear too much make up I often only have to apply it to my bottom lip and then rub my lips together gently so that it spreads to my top lip, but if I am going out I will apply it on both lips and take a bit more time. It does smell quite sweet and it tastes pleasant if you lick your lips.
I would describe the consistency as quite thick but it does spread out evenly and I find that it dries very quickly. I would say that it lasts on my lips for at least a couple of hours but obviously if I am eating or drinking it would need re-applying sooner. This is a lovely sparkly lip gloss which goes on easily and stays on my lips, so I do recommend it and would buy it again.
Now sold under the same of Chrystal Sparkle Lip Gloss I have seen it in stores, but not on the UK website. Maybe they no longer manufacture this product? Even if that is the case I wouldn't worry, you're not missing out on too much.
All in all this is not a bad gloss, it comes with a pull off lid and a slanted nozzle applicator. The packaging is very slimline and fits into my make up bag nicely. You only need to apply this really really thinly using a minuscule amount - which is just as well at the tube only contains 6ml, half of which sticks to the bottle in an audible 'clacking' sound when trying to squeese out! And that minuscule amount creates a clear glossy look (similar to clear nail polish). The sparkle factor is minimal, especially considering when in the tube it looks like its just made from glitter. This to me was disappointing. The sparkles which were there consisted of tiny, tiny pink and bronze flecks. The best feature of this gloss is that it isn't sticky. You might experience a slight tackiness opening and closing your mouth but that as bad as it's going to get. Additionally it transfers onto anything you touch, and even though it may not feel sticky on your lips, the transfered gloss turns into a sticky mess.
I can live this gloss mainly because it isn't gooey, but honestly I fail to see any difference between this product and the thousand others, it is nothing special. However it has given me the courage to try their High Shine Lip Treatment, as this looks to have more colour and sparkle in it.
I purchased this Sparkle Lip Gloss from the Body Shop a couple of months ago for £3 in the sale. I think it might have been left over from last season as I can't find it currently on the Body Shop website. That's a shame because I'd like to buy another one!
The lip gloss tube looks like a clear squeezy test tube with a black lid that you can just pull off and pop on again. I've had it in my handbag for a couple of months and the lid has never fallen off, so it's quite hardwearing and won't leak all over your bag! The tube contains 6ml of sparkly peach-coloured lip gloss. There's no brush needed to apply this lip gloss - there's a little hole that squeezes out a small amount at a time and you apply it directly to your lips.
I love this lip gloss as it's the perfect size to keep in my handbag and is such a flattering colour for all skintones. It's quite subtle, with just a hint of colour and a bit of sparkle and shine to make your lips look pretty. I wear it both for work and on a night out, so it's very versatile.
It's a common problem with lip glosses that they are too sticky and I end up with my hair stuck to my face (attractive!). This one isn't too sticky at all and I haven't had that problem with it. It's a great everyday lip gloss and I just wish I could find it in store or online again as mine's nearly finished!
