I recieved one of these for christmas and due to it being a Body Shop item I had high hopes for it. I recieved the silver one and as they are special edition I think they are only avaliable at christmas time.
It is basically a liquid eyeliner, however compact with lots of tiny pieces of glitter. I am pretty sure they cost between £4-£6.
The brush that you use to apply the eyeliner with is great, it is very flexible so that you can easily move it across your eye. The tiny bristles also stick together so there are none pointing out randomly making it hard to apply.
As for the eyeliner, well, I hated it. It looked like water with a few pieces of glitter sprinkled on it. Although the bottle looked like it was packed with glitter, it was obviously all stuck to the edges because when you came to apply it, it was barely visible!
On your eye the 'eyeliner' aka water looked like a slightly grey colour with literally two or 3 TINY pieces of glitter. No matter how many times I went over this I still achieved the same look, but with more of this thick gloopy water stuff on it.
Overall this is a really poor glitter eyeliner and there are far better ones out there at cheaper costs - avoid it at all costs!
When going out for a meal or to a concert I like my eyes to have a little bit of a sparkle, whether this is a glittery / metallic eye shadow or a glitter eyeliner like this one!
I recieved this as a gift, however these are (or were as special edition) from the Body Shop and cost around £3.95/£4.95. They were avaliable in 3 colours, them being gold, a greeny minty blue and a silver. I had the silver one given to me.
It has a see through bottle so you can see the bottle the colour that you recieve and has a black lid.
When I first opened the lid (screw top) I notices that the eyeliner was quite runny and just look clear with a few silver sparkles in it so I screwed the lid back on and shook it. When it reopened it was much more thicker and looked how a glitter eyeliner should.
To apply it was very cold and actually felt quite scratchy, which I have never had before, though this may be due to it being more pieces of glitter than actual eyeliner.
The brush was very small and the bristles didn't stick together which made it much harder to apply as they just stuck out everywhere and meant that the eyeliner couldn't be applied in one clean, full stoke across the eye.
This meant that it took many tries to go over just one eye. It also didn't look smooth and due to the wierd constinceny meant that it looked lumpy anmd blotchy.
However on a good note, I did really like the silver colour because most silver things make me look ill, but I was surprised to see that this didn't so that was a good thing! It is very sparkly due to it being mainly glitter and not much eyeliner, however this also looked odd as it just looked like you had eyeliner sprinkled oddly across your eye.
Overall I wouldn't reccomend this and will not be buying it again.
I own the silver edition of this eyeliner and think it is one of the best glittery eyeliners out there. I have tried other brands, but this one is definitely worth the price. When I purchased it (well over a year ago) it was £9 for a small bottle but it has lasted all this time and hasn't dried out at all.
The eyeliner brush is a little longer than I am used to and I was worried it would affect the way I put it on but I found it was just as flexible and easy to use as other liners with shorter brushes.
The liquid itself is clear with bits of silver glitter mixed in. It spreads evenly across your eyes and doesn't result in any clumps or uneven spread of the glitter.
The effect of the eyeliner is brilliant. It adds sparkle and glitter to your eyes, without looking over done. You can wear it as eyeliner by itself or wear it with eye shadow. I have also worn it painted on top of black eyeliner for a more dramatic effect.
You can obviously experiment with different techniques depending on what effect you are looking for. It stays on well and doesn't tend to slip down your face if you are out partying. At the same time, it is easy to remove and most cleansers/facial wipes I have used have removed it easily and without getting glitter everywhere.
I own both the silver and green body shop glitter eyeliners both of which are lovely colours. The eyeliner is easy to apply, thus fool-proof for those without a steady hand or for someone who can never create the perfect line. The consistency is of a gel liquid that is not too glittery when applied. I wear mine during the day when I am feeling a little bit girly and sparkly but apply quite a few coats when I go out in the evening for a more dramatic effect, leaving each coat a minute to dry before applying the next. The good thing about this product is it blends well with other glitter eyelines and eyeshadows so that you can create a really dazzling result. You can also use it over the whole of the eyelid, not just as an eyeliner.
The eyeliner will last quite a while but due to the consistancy will dry up if kept near a radiator etc. This product also contains Marula Oil and Community Trade Aloe Vera which both have soothing and hydrating properties .
I got this product for xmas last year, it is a small 3ml bottle with a pen that comes out covered in glittery eyeliner.
I find that its not enough to just use the eyeliner, if you apply black eye pencil first, and then put the eyeliner over the top of that you can see the glitter more clearly.
Im not sure how much this costs as it was a present, but I cant imagine its more than £3. I have worn this out a few times, and it lasts well into the night, and only comes off with makeup wipes. The glitter hasnt dried up as it is glitter mixed with something gooey to make it stick on.
I have the silver colour, which goes nicely with my gold eye dust, and really brightens up your eyes. I wouldnt really wear it in the daytime as its just a bit to glam. I think you can also get it in a choice of other colours but I havent tried these.
If you want something to brighten up your eyes at night then this is a good product.
I have tried two colours of this eyeliner, the silver and green. The silver was also available in a different package last Christmas, which was nicer and more glamorous with a gold swirly finish on the lid. Although the packaging for this version is fine, it is less exciting. This seems to be a product only available at Christmas, so if you want it rush to your local store now or wait until next year.
The silver glitter is quite a light silver. The liquid isn't exactly packed with glitter, which is disappointing and if you want a bold effect you will have to go over the lines repeatedly. It is very easy to apply, as it is glitter gel it does not need to be in a perfect line to look good like black eyeliner does. It can be used alone or on top of black or other coloured matte eyeliners to make them look more interesting. It can also be spread over the whole eyelid with a finger tip, however this is not very economical as a lot of the glitter will stick to your finger. The brush is very small, which is great for applying glitter under the eye but makes it time consuming to build up.
The green glitter actually contains blue glitter as well as green, less of the former, and is totally gorgeous. The first time I tried this on the back of my hand I gasped with delight. Again, the glitter content is not as high as it could be so it needs building up to create a bright and bold look.
I think the price this year was about £9, but I can't check this as it is no longer for sale on the website. There are eyeliners available for a lot cheaper and I know they are just as good.
Next time I want a silver glitter eyeliner I will try other brands because The Body Shop's version was nothing special, I will hang on to the brush though as it is handy for lining underneath my eyes. If the green/blue eyeliner comes back next year I will probably put it on my Christmas list as the colour combination is so beautiful, but they come out with different colourways each year - last year they had silver and multicoloured - so I'm not counting on it being available.
