I have tried many a lip plumper as I like the look of fuller lips, and this is by far the best I have found so far. I had previously tried Too Faced's original Lip Injection and this 'Extreme' version gives me even plumper lips.
The product is a bit thinner and lighter than others I have tried, which means it makes a great base before you put on lipsticks - other products tend to be thicker and stickier and can only really be used as a lip-gloss. It glides on easily over your lips. I also like the colour of it - all shimmery and iridescent, and the smell is gorgeous.
After applying the product you wait a little and then the tingling starts! I absolutely love the sensation of it, but some of my friends who have tried it find it too painful. It quickly starts to work and your lips really do look a lot noticeably plumper. I then wait a few minutes until the product has been absorbed and apply lipstick.
Overall, this product is the most effective out of all the plumpers I have tried so far, and being able to wear it under lipstick is great. The brush to apply it makes application easy, and the product seems to last forever. The only downside is that the effect doesn't last as long as I would like - I find that I have to regularly apply it throughout the evening. You also have to be careful to only apply it to your lips, as if it gets on the skin around the mouth it can make it look red and swollen.
It was my birthday a couple of months ago and one of my friends (who is well aware of my make-up & lip gloss addiction!) bought me this.
I'd been wanting it for a while but considering that I already have a make-up bag full of lip glosses I couldn't really justify spending nearly £20.00 on a new one. A 6 gram tube of this retails at £18.50 which I do think is quite expensive, but the fact that it is actually efective as well as good quality just about justifies the price tag.
I am glad that I recieved mine as a gift though as although it's effective it is nothing new; a few of my lip plumps are just as effective as this, some of which are significantly cheaper. Availability wise, I've seen this in Boots and ASOS also sell it. The lip gloss comes in a cardboard box which is pink and white and the lip gloss tube its self is made from a sturdy plastic.
The tube is transparent and the off-white, pearly gloss is visible. This is handy as I am easily able to see how much is left. The tube is chunky and I quite like the design - it does look pretty expensive. I also like that it is able to stand upright and it looks quite cool stood on my dressing table. The lid of the lip gloss twists off and the wand and brush are attatched to it.
The applicator brush is a good size and it smoothes the thin, slightly sticky serum evenly over my lips. The serum smells quite nice - it's quite a sweet, slightly artificial scent. I only need a small amount of this to cover my lower and upper lip and it doesn't take long before I feel it working.
It is a mild burning sensation which I personally do find a little unpleasant and the stinging/burning sensation although relatively mild is stronger than my other lip plumps. The results are almost instant and very impressive - my lips are naturally plump but this makes them even fuller and really pouty. It doesn't make it look like I've had botox or anything but the diffrence is noticeable but not to the point of making my lips look unnaturaley big.
As well as plumping my lips up, the product leaves my lips looking glossy and a little pinker/
more pigmented. The plumping effect wears off after around two hours and the gloss lasts for a little longer.
Overall, I recommend this lip plump.
My lips have always been quite thin but I feel like their getting thinner to the point where when I smile, my top lip all but dissapears! I have tried quite a few lip plumping products and they have ranged from pointless to useful. One of the best ones that I've tried has been Lip Injection by Too Faced so when I saw the Lip Injection Extreme, I wanted to give it a try.
What does the product do?
The product promises to plump up the lip making them look fuller and healthier. What separates this from the original Lip Injection is that the product claims that the results are permanent when the product is used continuously. The formula is based on scientifically proven lip plumping technologies.
How does the product work?
The product doesn't actually use injections so it's not scary. It contains Marine Sponge which acts as a dehydrated sponge which becomes hydrated once in the lips and fills out, plumping up the lips. Also included is a collagen booster which encourages the lips natural production of collagen as well as an instant blood vessel dilators from Vitamin E which stimulates blood flow to the lips. It softens, nourishes and hydrates the lips using the natural ingredients of Jojoba Oil and Avocado Oil.
How do you use the product?
In order to see results with this product, it needs to be used continually. It needs to be applied to clean, dry lips generously and this needs to be done every morning and every night. You need to leave the lips for a few minutes before applying gloss, balm or lipstick in order for the formula to fully sink in.
Packaging and Price
The packaging has been designed to look a scarier than it actually is. The plumper is contained within a plastic tube and you can see the product inside. The lid has been designed to look like a pipette but it is a normal screw top lid with the wand attached to the inside of the lid. The brush has been formed into a point in order to resemble a needle but you just smooth the product on in the same way that you would with a normal lip gloss product. The product is quite pricey and will cost you around £15. It can be bought from large stores such as Boots and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The first thing I should probably say about this product is that it does hurt. It might not use an injection but it really stings the lips and it does feel quite uncomfortable. If you get it on the skin around the lips, it will hurt even more and it will make the skin go pink so you need to be really careful with the application. The pointed brush makes this easier. You also need to watch your tongue doesn't touch your lips because that will hurt too and you shouldn't eat or drink too soon after the application.
If you've used lip plumping products before then you will be familiar with the sensation but this one hurts more than most that I've tried. It does subside after about five minutes so you only have to tolerate it until then. The product looks like a clear gloss on the lips so it does make them look shiny and pretty. It doesn't actually change the colour of your lips but as the blood starts flowing, it does make your lips look a deeper colour.
You need to wait about five minutes before you see the results but it definitely makes your lips look fuller and plumper to the point where people comment on it. The effects tend to go after a hour or so though and I've stopped using it overnight because I don't think it's 'permanently' changing how full my lips are so there's no point in suffering at bed time. It definitely works for a while though and I am happy with the appearance of them for that period of time.
All in all, this plumper does work and it makes my lips look fuller and plumper for a few hours. It does hurt but most lip plumpers do so if you have a low pain threshold, you don't want to get this. I don't think it changes your lips permenantly and the results fade with time but it does make my lips look much more impressive for a while. I do like this lip plumper but I'll keep it for special occasions.
I've tried a few lip plumping products over the years, with varying results. This may be because in the past I've always gone for the cheaper options.
I was feeling a little flush recently so decided to splash out at Boots and buy this "Extreme" lip injection product. I've never bought anything by Too Faced before but I have read good reviews. The lady at the stand, although was friendly, was urging me to try the tester product out on my lips (something I was reluctant to do, owing to the fact that a good few previous customers had probably done the same). I tried it out on the back of my hand, just to check it didn't irritate my skin, as well as testing the consistency etc.
After 30 seconds or so, I felt a tingling, which was not uncomfortable, so I decided to go for it and purchase the product.
I am very impressed with its plumping abilities - they give my lips a long lasting, bee-stung look, without looking to fake or ridiculous. You only really need to use a tiny bit to do the job which is great.
If you're not a fan of the tingly feeling you get after eating particularly spicy foods, I wouldn't recommend this product. Personally this is something I quite like, but I gather my not be everyone's cup of tea.
Downsides: This does make you look like you've got lipgloss on, and I'm not really a fan of the glossy lips look. I'd prefer if it blended completely into your lips to make it look like you were wearing nothing on them at all, as this would add to the 'natural' look of the lips. The gloss does wear off before the effect does though, so this is only an issue for the first half an hour or so.
Other downside: the price. This retails at £21 in Boots which is more than I would normally spend on a beauty product. However, if you shop around on the internet, it is possible to find it cheaper. And given the fact that you only need a tiny amount, I guess it's not actually that bad value for money.
A while ago I bought Too Faced Lip Injection (original) and wrote a rather favourable review on dooyoo. I had wanted to try the range and noticed that there were three strengths being Original, Extreme and the scary sounding Super Size (although I have not seen the latter in the UK at all so I suspect it might be available in the US only)
To start off I went in at the bottom trying the original which to summarise my review, stings quite a bit but did the trick plumping up my lips very nicely.
At Christmas, I decided to be a bit braver and stepped it up a notch with the Lip Injection Extreme.
My reasons for this were the promise of long term results...I wanted to believe it's claims because I could never go down the surgery route, but common sense told me to remain sceptical - I mean if all the products on the market worked as they claimed to then surely we would all be walking about with zero cellulite, no fine lines and a noticeable reduction in wrinkles!!
** THE PRODUCT **
This will set you back £16.64 in Boots and comes in a 6g tube. The top twists off and has a thin brush attached, the actual product is iridescent white. However when it is applied it is clear on your lips. It also smells very sweet a bit like tropical fruit and not at all chemically.
The brush is very thin which makes application easy, and the bristles seem to stay in one place which makes me think it's fairly decent quality.
** HOW TO USE **
You are advised to incorporate this into your daily routine like skin care in order to obtain long term plumping results. Whereas the original is a temporary lip plumping gloss, this is a serum which is designed to be used as a morning and night as a treatment rather than a gloss over lipstick.
As instructed, in the morning I apply a layer to clean dry lips and leave it on for 10 minutes whilst I do the rest of my make up. It warns you to expect a tingle (tingle??!! sting more like!!). And sting it does, there is no getting around it! If you find that sensation too uncomfortable then this is definitely not for you. However I quite like it, it makes you feel like the product is working it's magic.
After 10 minutes, you can either blot it off and apply your usual products as normal or you can let your lips absorb it for longer.
At night I apply before going to bed and leave it on overnight.
** MY OPINION - DOES IT WORK? **
After the first application you see instant results. My lips definitely looked fuller and it seemed to last a couple of hours or so. If you want to top up the look during the day, you are told you use the lip injection original to maintain it rather than the extreme serum.
So does it work for long term results? I would say I am 90% convinced that it works. The other 10% is for the sceptic in me which is waiting for me to become immune to the serum and for it to stop working - not happened as yet but I'm keeping back that 10% just in case heh!
But for now, the facts are since Christmas day, there is no doubt that my lips have definitely stayed fuller even on the odd days that I forget to use this or just don't bother. I have loads of the stuff left and I think this is going to last me at least 6 months by the looks of it.
The other thing I like about it is that it doesn't seem to leave my lips dry which is something that would put me off using any lip product.
** IS THERE ANYTHING I DONT LIKE ABOUT THE PRODUCT **
A word of caution, you are only supposed to use this on the lip area - don't allow it to smear anywhere onto the skin at all, it will leave it red and really quite dry and sensitive. The serum escaped a bit onto the cupid's brow of my lip and it definitely caused a slight reaction which although temporary, I don't want to repeat. But that's pretty much all I don't like. I know it might seem a little pricey but I think considering the fact that firstly, it seems to work and secondly, a little goes a long long way, I think it's value for money for this type of product.
** ACTIVE NATURAL INGREDIENTS LISTED ON THE WEBSITE **
The science bit, if you like:
Marine Sponge - clinically proven collagen penetrates the lip with a dehydrated form of collagen that re-hydrates itself with the bodies own moisture cells. Up to 20% more volume due to increased moisture.
Collagen Booster - maxi lip is proven to stimulate and increase collagen. Boosts lip volume up to 40% and decreases lines by up to 40%. Lips are full and moisture levels increase overall 60%.
Instant Blood Vessel Dilators - natural Vitamin E derivative stimulates blood flow and oxygen for fuller, plumper lips.
Botanical Cocktail of Avocado Oil and Jojoba - hydrates, moisturizes and soothes lips. Use for one month morning and evening with skincare routine and see the long term results
** SUMMARY **
If I could only have one lip plumping product, this would be it. Very happy so far and I would definitely recommend if you are reading this because you are wondering whether to buy or not!
It just might save you from the surgeon.....x

I visited Boots looking for a product from No 7 that I used to buy years ago - it was a clear, strong-smelling liquid which stang like mad when you painted it over lipstick, but it plumped your lips really well, and held the colour in place. I think it was called Lip Fix, but I always called it Lip Sting!
It seems the product was discontinued some years ago, and seeing as how there was nothing to replace it in the No7 range, the sales advisor pointed me towards this Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme. She said it would do a similar job, and as I was in a frivolous mood, I splashed out £22.50 on it without batting an eyelid.
I should have checked online! This product is available from Amazon for £17 - and price-checking today its actually available from boots.com for £16.64!
The packaging is pretty and quirky - pink cardboard box with a swirly typeface, and a small tube of the actual stuff inside, which is clear - helping you to see how much is left. It reminded me of something from the Benefit or Soap and Glory ranges - cute and girly.
The product is applied via a small brush, which dispenses the liquis across the lips accurately and evenly. My lips start to tingle....Within a few minutes, my lips look fuller and kind of "bee-stung". Exactly the effect I was looking for!
The product is more of a lipgloss than a fixer for lipstick - it works well with smudged lipline for a full, natural effect, and is clear so if you do wear it over lippy it won't alter the colour.
I would say that they staying power of this is good - you can feel the effect hours after application, and although you want to reapply often as the tingly feeling gets quite addictive, you won't need to.
All in all, until I can find something even better, I'll be sticking with this, as despite the high price, I consider it good value.
I had been looking everywhere for a lip plumping product that actually worked. Most failed to do what they claimed, so you can understand that I was sceptical when a friend told me to try Too Faced Lip Injection. It certainly isn't the cheapest product on the market, so I decided to try it on my lips sneakily whilst in Boots. After few seconds I could feel a tingling sensation, which became quite intense. Low and behold when I check my lips out in the mirror they do look fuller! Excited, I proceeded to the checkout, thrilled that I had finally found a product that worked.
I still use Too Faced Lip Injection every time I go out somewhere and I want a more dramatic look - I wouldn't use it everyday. The tingling sensation is something you get used to, perhaps I'm a little sadistic cause I actually find it quite pleasant! You can use it on it's own as it has a lovely glossy finish or you can apply it under or on top of your own lipstick (I recommend on top as it's hard to apply another lipstick on top as it is so glossy it congeals). I have found that it can last for up to three or four hours.
I would say however that it tends to have different results of different people. On my recommendation my Mum tried it and it didn't have any effect on her lips (her lips are rather thin), yet one of my best friends who I recommended it to now swears by it. I really do recommend that you try before you buy to see if it is a product that works for you, once you know it does you can search for a good deal online.
One more word of warning - I applied over the top of a lipstick the other day and decided to gently blot off the top layer of gloss to give it a more casual look. As I did this some of the gloss rubbed off below my lower lip - when I next looked in the mirror my skin was bright red and swollen! It did go down after an hour or so, but was not very attractive! I'm sure I was just very careless with my blotting, but it is worth bearing in mind; it's strong stuff!!
I bought this from Boots as I had previously owned a much cheaper lip plumper which didn't do much, so thought I would try a more expensive one. This one caught my eye as it said it would produce permanent lip plumping results.
Amazingly, I have managed to apply it according to the instructions, i.e. every morning and evening for at least 30 days to achieve lasting results. Normally, I lose the motivation quickly and stop using things, but I am pleased to say i have been using this now for about 30 days, so feel I can now give my opinion.
Things I like about it:
1) It's really easy to apply. It comes in a small tube with a little brush applicator which you use on your lips.
2) I like the tingly feeling you get after using. It makes me feel like it's doing something.
3) It acts as a nice shiny lip gloss and makes lips appear redder
4) I do notice a difference after the 30 days. Now, it's possible that this differene could be in my imagination but my lips definitely seem a little plumper now even when I haven't just used the product. Not dramatically different though!
Things I don't like about it:
1) Be careful when applying it. make sure you only get it on your lips and be careful who you kiss. I gave my baby daughter a kiss not long after using it and she got a red mark on her cheek for a couple of hours after. It took me a while to work out what had caused it and I felt awful when I realised.
2) If you don't keep it upright, it leaks a little onto the outside of the tube.
3) At £17, it's quite pricey!
I would recommend it and I will continue to use it. Don't expect dramatic results, but it does seem to work a bit!
Genetics are a weird thing - the family gene pool is up from grabs with the good and bad features and unfortunatley for me my siblings seemed to push me away from the pouty lip gene grabbing it for themselves, draining the family gene pool leaving me with stick men lips!! I have always had a bit of the green eyed monster for my sister's gorgeous full lips and so when I saw Lip Injection Extreme (the normal strength wasnt for me!! I dont do anything by halves!) by Too Faced in Boots I thought I'd give it a try.
The counter has to be hunted down (in my local boots) as it doesnt seem to be with the other makeup brands, which is how I stumbled upon it whilst trying to find new tweezers!!
The product comes in a box, which should be sealed - I advise checking this as I almost perchased one that some naughty person had tested and scrumpled back into the box!! Which was well annoying as there was already a tester out - not that I'd ever use a tester product on my lips - and this one should definatley not be used anywhere else but there - as the area will swell!! On the box it gives a breif description and states that it can plump the lips because of four advanced lip plumping science technologies. It also states that it must be used day and night for at least 30 days to see any lasting results, and for a boost during the day you can use normal strength lip injection. Hmmm I thought I'll give it a try!!
Once home I opened my sealed box (as I was dying to see if I could have Angelina lips!!) and opened the small bottle. It smelt quite fruity and came complete with a wand - just like a normal lip gloss. The gloss itself is rather thick and doesnt run like some lip glosses can. All in all I'd say the texture is like a more expensive lip gloss i.e. dior etc.
I applied it like the box said on just my lip area, it glided on with ease. After a few seconds there was a quite intense burning sensation - however I didnt find it unbearable and it only lasted for about 5 minutes, tho the box does say upto 15mins. I could feel my lips getting hot - which was obviously the blood rushing to the area to plump up my pout. As such your lips turn quite red, which does settle down to your normal lip colour again quite soon.
The effect was instant, I couldnt believe my eyes! I had lips!!! My sister was amazed - my lips were bigger than hers LOL. I felt instantly sexy and wanted to pout my way down the high street - however I didnt act on the urge until later with a night on the tiles!!
The effect lasted for approx 5hrs - which amazed me!
You can use your existing lipstick/gloss over the top of it after a few minutes and it gives fab results especially if you use a glittery one which adds to the effect. However it is quite glossy even without the added top coat of your own gloss.
The downside is the price; it cost £17.00 for the extreme and £10.00 for the normal strength, however I have been using them for over a month now and still have plenty, plus I have noticed a lasting effect, my lips are plumper now even when I am not using it (I now only use it for nights out).
It is also now available in the normal strength as a coloured lip gloss - however I find whilst it gives the same effect as the normal strength lip injection, the colour isnt as good as if you use the clear with your own lip gloss.
It is available from Boots as I have said previously and I also recently saw it in Debenhams.
My opinion is that I would definatley say the effect is worth the cost
Lip injection extreme
Going for extreme pout, I bought this along with the lip injection and some other bits and pieces whilst indulging in some retail therapy.
Promising to give long term volume and plumpness (to the lips) with continued use, I decided this would be one of those have to have marvels!
~~How does it do all of this?~~
Again, we have a promise but it doesnt tell me HOW it is going to achieve this plumping of the lips; merely tells me that it CAN do it because of four of the most scientifically proven and advanced lip plumping technologies- obviously 4 of the most jealously guarded secrets as well.
~~Product and Packaging~~
A fairly innocuous silvery coloured glossy substance sits in the tube, and when I unscrew the top, I find a little wand with a lip brush on the end.
The gloss itself has a pleasant fruity smell and is thick enough to give a nice gloss but not so thick that it gets all clogged up.
~~So, what do I do?~~
This is meant to be used as part of a beauty ritual and is to be used day and night for at least 30 days to see any results.
Apply a generous amount to clean dry lips and wait a few minutes before applying further gloss, so that it can well and truly penetrate the limp zones!
Remember that it should be applied only to the lip area.
~~Price and Availability~~
Coming in at £17 for a small 6g bottle, no one said pouting was going to come cheap.
Available at chemists and department stores, look out for the Extreme Plumping collection kit which retails at £22 so great value if you like the products
The product is very easy to apply and I have to admit that I like the slick glossy feel. As soon as it is applied, there is tingling to the area and that is why I suggest that its applied carefully to the lips- wobbly hands and you will have a not very attractive red patch which could look rather like a cold sore next to your lips. The tingling differs each time I apply it, and whilst it is almost unnoticeable sometimes, at other times, it is a definite and not particularly pleasant tingling sensation; I have no idea why this is but make a guess that its to do with the sensitivity of lips at the time.
The gloss goes on clear, and because it is quite thick, it does make lips shimmery, stays on for quite a long time assuming not too much is eaten and drunk, and does make lips feel soft and smooth.
It is suggested that this is used morning and night and that the normal Lip Injection is applied throughout the day to maximise pout. I think this could be a bit of a money spinner because certainly for me, the effects are the same with both.
This one does cause a tingling sensation and my lips, in particular my top lip does look a bit fuller and they definitely look redder. Is this the chilli preparation I am convinced the product contains?
Having used it for more than the obligatory 30 days, and been quite good with the day and night ritual, I can honestly say that I have not achieved the promised permanent pout. True, when it is applied, and for a few hours after, my pout is a tad more pouty, and I have no need for any further lip colour, but following non application, they do wilt again.
I would recommend it as a good lip gloss, although it is expensive, and for anyone wanting a semi permanent pout, then its good. I think thats all I ever wanted because I dont want to be waking up after my time in land of nod with huge trout lips.
A good product with short term effective results.
Thanks for reading.
