Advantages: Eyeshadow is not going anywhere - not even a smudge!

Disadvantages: -None!-

So picture the scene, you have spent a good amount of time blending and contouring, experimenting with colours and smoking them out across your bare eyelids. You go out and find a few hours later your hard work has completely vanished and faded to a vague blur!

I was so disappointed when this used to happen that eventually I stopped wearing eyeshadow altogether to avoid resembling a panda chomping on some bamboo. However I was recently bought a gorgeous eyeshadow palette and couldn't resist the temptation any longer! I went to my local Boots and came across the eyeshadow primers, after swatching a few I decided on the 'Too Faced Shadow Insurance' and am VERY glad I did!

Packaged in a gorgeous aqua blue box measuring roughly 4 inches in height, the design reminds me of the retro 70's wallpapers that you see in older houses and films! At the top of the box is the brand name 'Too Faced' in italic writing and just below is a pale beigey-yellow shape that looks like a vanity mirror to me, holding the name 'Shadow Insurance' inside - again adorned with italic lettering. I love the look of the box as I think it looks extremely fancy and sophisticated without being too over the top - very chic! Once you open the box your insurance is inside, presented in a plastic tube container similar to most beauty product creams available in a lovely mid shade of blue with the 'mirror' shape in the middle with 'Insurance' wrote across. To access the product is very easy - just unscrew the lid and squeeze!

I purchased the shade 'Candlelight' but I believe there are two other shades which seems a little strange to me as you are going to be putting a heap of eyeshadow over the top but I suppose it is encase you want to wear it alone! A lot of people have compared this primer to the Urban Decay one however one main difference would be that the Insurance does not contain an applicator wand which aids easy application. I have found that the easiest way is to dab on a little with your finger a smooth in with a clean eye brush - however you can apply any way you feel comfortable.

The primer itself is a beautiful golden colour that blends extremely easily! I was not sure of how much to use at first but I found that one or two dots on the eyelid is plenty as it will smooth all the way up to the brow bone. It has a gorgeous shimmer to it that makes it look lovely on its own if you wish to wear it that way. You can wear any eyeshadow you choose to over the top however I think a brown smokey eye really sets it off and brings out your eye colour.

The tube contains 11g which is just the right amount as you will only be using it on your eyelids so this will last you a while! It's a full coverage product to defend against all fading, creasing and even smudging of eyeshadow! There is also a skin soothing formula that helps to even out the skin and fine lines around the eyes to make the perfect blank canvas for all your shadow designs! Whatever colours you choose to wear this insurance policy will make sure that it is intensified and bolder! Its not going anywhere until you take a make up remover wipe to it!

A few other goodies about this primer would be that volatiles lock down pigments for long lasting colour so you can party all night long without worrying about the panda eyes! You can use this primer with cream eyeshadow as well as powder. A barrier is created between the natural oils in your skin and your make up so the eyeshadow will be sat on the primer rather than your skin to fight fading. Too Faced claim that 'the size of a raindrop covers the entire lid' so let it rain!

If you are concerned about the controversy surrounding parabens then you do not have to worry about this product as it is totally free from them! It is debated at how dangerous they are but its better to be safe than sorry!

Retailing at roughly £13 - £14 depending on where you choose to buy. Available at Boots and all good online make up stores.

Summary: If you are fed up of your eyeshadow creasing or vanishing then get some insurance!
