I am so addicted to all things sparkly that I swear I must have been a magpie in a former life. I simply can not walk past anything glittery without oooing and aahing and then taking the said object to be purchased at the till.
I have been wearing glittering make up products since I was old enough to apply them myself. The Starry Eyed liner is just one product in the sea of glitter that is my make up back but it is one that most certainly rises to the top.
Rather poetically, Too faced promises that this little product will give your eyes the glamour of Hollywood's starry skies. The purpose of this glittery eyeliner is to give your eyes an incredibly sparkle that is not for the faint hearted and will complete any dramatic make up look. The product will not only make your eyes looks amazing but it is also good for your skin too.
How does it work?
The liquid liner contains gorgeous particles of micro glitter. When applied to the eyelid, the particles catch the light and reflect a dazzling brightness that make your eyes dance like a disco ball. The glitter is heavily pigmented meaning that whichever colour you choose, you can guarantee that it will be rich and shimmeringly obvious.
The liner also contains Peach which is packed full of moisture. This means that the product will maintain the skins natural elasticity and prevent it from looking old before its time. It also means that this glittery eyeliner will not dry out on your skin or flake away which means you get long lasting results. It is nourishing for the skin as it contains a variety of vitamins and minerals and it also helps to remove toxins from the skin.
Also present is Cucumber which cools and soothes the delicate skin on the eye area. It helps to prevent tired eyes, leaving you wide awake and ready to dance the night away. Cucumber contains Silica which strengthens your connective tissues and prevents water retention which means no puffiness will occur to the area on which it is applied. It is also enriched with skin loving vitamins and a variety of minerals.
How do you use it?
The product can be used in a variety of ways according to your personal taste. You can use it alone on bare skin and draw a line alone the lower and upper lashes as you would do with a normal eyeliner. I apply mine over the top of black eye liner because the liner itself is cleaner, only the glitter is coloured. The more layers you draw, the thicker the glitter becomes and the better the effect will be. You can also vary the thickness of the line that you draw according the occasion although I just tend to stick close to the lashes.
They are plenty of delicious colours to choose from each one with an equally mouth watering name. My personal favourite is Stalkerazzi which is a coppery bronze colour with flecks of gold. I always wear brown eye shadow and this shade looks perfect on top. Super Freak is a hot pink glitter fest while Mad Mad Love gives you a softer candlefloss pink shade. You can choose to dazzle in Drunk Dial which is a deep and bright blue or you can become a green eyed monster with Obsessed Fan. Restraining Order and Ooh & Ahh will a give you a darker sparkle or you'll see the bright side with the very sparkly Silver Lining.
Packaging and Price
The Starry Eyed Liner comes encased within a thin tube with a screw top lid. The tube is clear so you can see what's inside and the lid is shiny and pearlescent. A brush is included inside the lid and the brush it small enough to enable you to be precise.
This little beauty doesn't come cheap and each one will set you back around £14 but they will last you a very long time. If you think you'll have difficulty choosing between the colours, then you can buy mini kits for around the same price which are smaller but come with a variety of colours. The product is available in most large department stores including Boots and it can also be found on many online website so shop around to find yourself a better deal.
I wear my glittery eye liner every time I go out with the girls. It's very quick to apply and quick to dry and it stays where it is until I decide to remove it. And when I do decide to remove it, then it all comes off in the first go. The liner itself is completely clear and it's the flecks of glitter that give it its colour.
This means that it is simple to apply as you don't need to worry about getting your line even or straight. The little brush also enables you to be more precise. I find that one coat gives you enough glitter but I usually do two because like I said earlier, I can never have too much sparkle.
The liner is gentle on the skin and I've never experienced any itchiness or discomfort whilst wearing this product. The glitter stays put so you won't need to worry about any getting in your eyes which was one of my initial fears as I wear contact lenses. There will be no need for reapplication and as such a tiny amount is used each time, then this little tube will last you what seems like forever.
I'm not to sure about the skin conditioning qualities because I use it on such a small surface area that even if it performed miracles then I probably wouldn't be able to notice. That said, it never leaves my skin feeling dry or irritated so I suppose it's doing its job.
The glitter effect is second to none and that is why I don't resent paying a little bit more for it when similar products are available for half the price. The glitter is very noticeable and very sparkly so if you're looking for something subtle this isn't it. I wouldn't wear mine in the day but some of the shades would look nice in the summer if you toned down the rest of your make up. Needless to say, this product looks fantastic at Christmas and at parties.
All in all, this is a fantastic product for adding that extra special something to your makeup. It is one for the glitter fanatics amongst you and will give your eye make up a long lasting dazzling effect that will not leave you disappointed.
