      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A staple of my make up bag

I started using this product a couple of years ago when it was available in my local Superdrug. Since then they have stopped stocking it so I mainly repurchase this online, and when I say repurchase I mean that I am now never without it.

Size wise it is fairly decent for the money. If you are buying it online then price can vary greatly but I would expect to pay arounds £10-14 for this and considering the fact that it lasts me approx four months I feel this is pretty fair.

Now to the product itself. First of all I do not wear this completely alone, after experimenting in the beginning with it I found that I got a much better, flawless looking make up if applied a small layer of BB Cream or light gel foundation underneath first. Of course this is not essential as it is designed to be worn alone, however I feel that by wearing a little gel foundation, which is what I am currently doing, it not only gives the effect of priming the skin for the powder but can act as a light concealer and help to balance out your skin before you apply the powder foundation. As I mentioned I only apply a very light layer of the gel foundation, and I find it does not really matter too much which brand of this you use, just a reasonable quality high street one is fine.

Next I apply the powder foundation. I apply it with a kabuki style brush. I sift out some of the powder into the lid and then swirl the brush around in it. Then I gently begin to buff the powder onto my skin. I start at my forehead and work my way down. Once finished I find that the results look flawless and professional. You don't look heavily made up and it gives a much more natural matt look than say wearing foundation and pressed powder, which can look a little cakey in some lights. For touch ups during the day I simply gather the leftover powder left in the lid onto the Kabuki brush and then pop it into my make up bag. Then later in the day if my nose gets a little shiny there is enough powder on the brush just to give my nose a quick buff and then I'm good to go.

I really would not be without this powder, if it stopped being made I am not really sure what I would replace it with as I have not seen many offerings which are of a good quality. Its definitely a vital item in my make up bag and I value it very highly, maybe it will become a favourite of yours too, I hope you are able to obtain as great results with it and I have managed to do.

      I love

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A must have make-up item for me from now one. Almost perfect!

When it comes to make-up I do like the natural and minimalistic look for everyday wear. I want my foundation to give the impression that I have clear skin rather than a good foundation. I also want make-up which is kind to my sensitive skin and isn't tested on animals. This is why I went to UNE.

UNE is a relatively new make-up brand which I've had my eye on for some time now. Their make-up items are mostly natural shades and contain formulas of 98%-100% from natural origin. These items do not contain parabens or silicones or any ingredients from animal origin. They're not tested on animals and their packaging is eco-friendly. The 'UNE Philosophy' states 'I want make-up which enhances my beauty without concealing it'. On paper, UNE make-up ticks all of my boxes. The reason it's taken me so long to try any of these make-up items is the price of them. The items are a little pricier than I normally pay for make-up. Although not unaffordable they still cost more than I can justify paying when I already have three make-up bags stuffed with such items.

For the first time ever, the tax man came to the rescue! I recently got a small but nice tax rebate which, seems as it wasn't enough to do anything too over the top with, I decided to use to treat myself to a few new cosmetic items and the UNE range was the first place I looked.

I decided to try this 100% mineral foundation. I don't often wear powder foundation and I'd never tried mineral powder before but I was aware that most seem to think that a decent mineral powder is a must in any make-up bag and I felt like trying something new. The 4.5g pot of mineral powder cost me £9.99 from Tesco and can be found for the same price in Boots and Superdrug too.

The packaging has a minimalistic look to it but doesn't look cheap. It's a simple clear plastic circular pot with white screw on lid containing the UNE logo and product name in dark green font on top. Unscrewing the lid reveals twelve small holes at the top of the base which is how you gain access to this powder. As always, these holes are covered with a thin layer of plastic to keep all of this foundation in its pot which must be removed the first time you use the powder.

The powder comes in seven shades which are simply named 'M0' followed by a number to represent how dark or light the shade is. I've been using shade M03 which is the lightest shade stocked in my local Tesco store and seems to suit my pale complexion perfectly. Considering how pale I am and how well this shade matches my skin tone I dread to think just how light the paler two shades in this range are! One thing I did notice is that the next shade down to this one was much darker than this, it was quite a massive jump actually and there are certainly a wider range of shades to suit darker skin tones than light ones. Nevertheless, there are a decent number of shades and I think most could find one to suit their skin tone. I would also definitely recommend using the testers in store before purchasing any of this too as all of these shades look a lot darker in their pots then they do on the skin.

The UNE website states that this foundation will give a 'unique, natural and radiant result' and I was keen to see how much truth was in this the moment I got home with my new pot of foundation powder and applied it straight to my face. I took my foundation brush (just a basic one I picked up from Superdrug for about £2) and applied this powder onto my bare face. The first thing I noticed about application is that not a lot of product is dispensed through the holes in the top of the pot at all. Of course, this does help to make sure you're not wasting loads and that it doesn't get everywhere but it also meant I was popping the lid back on and shaking the pot upside down rather a lot. This isn't exactly a massive problem but it does make me feel like I'm using loads of the foundation in one go seems as I'm shaking the pot about ten times per application. In actual fact I'm probably not using that much, it's just such a tiny amount is dispensed each time.

Applying this to my face was lovely though. The very fine powder blended into my skin perfectly and instantly with very little effort required at all. And, most importantly for me, it did look very natural and not caked on in the slightest. I applied this to my face with no other make-up that first time just to test it out and was completely amazed by the results. Despite no concealer or other foundation being applied before this my skin tone still looked perfectly even, blemishes were fairly hidden, dark circles under my eyes had completely vanished as had the two little scars on my forehead I hate so much. My face also felt beautifully smooth which may not be such a good thing, I'm sure constantly touching my face doesn't do the staying power of this foundation any good! Needless to say, I instantly fell head over heels in love with this powder and have since been using it daily.

Since that first time I've been applying a little concealer on spots before applying this. The powder does cover blemishes but only slightly and I, just like many others I imagine, require a little more coverage on these areas of my skin. On days where my skin is quite clear, however, I have taken to wearing this on its own. I've continuously got those same results which so amazed me that first time, perfectly even skin tone, lovely soft face and a clear and even complexion. The freshly applied results of this were pretty much faultless for me so I keen to see just how this would last.

I've started applying this in the morning before work and have tried it with and without primer (I use Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer which I have no problems with). During those recent sunny days we've just had (was that summer?) I found that by the time I'd completed the fifty minute walk to work in that heat and humidity the powder was barely there anymore. The good news is that unlike most foundations I've tried this doesn't seem to make my face sweat anymore than usual in the heat which is one advantage. I don't have oily skin myself but I'm assuming these findings about its short lived glory in the heat would mean this probably wouldn't last very long on your face if you do suffer with oily skin either. If, however, you have dry/normal skin and are not spending great amounts of time out in the heat then this will be perfect for you (or as close as you can get anyway).

On days where I have been out of the heat, this has lasted pretty much all day. I've found after about four hours it starts to wear thin on my chin area a little and could do with topping up but, aside from that one area, the powder looks as freshly applied six hours after application as it did six minutes after. I find using my primer doesn't actually make any difference to this powder at all but then, it's so good without there isn't really any room for improvement anyway. I can put this on in the morning with or without primer and by the time I'm ready to take it off I've still got a natural looking clear and even face. If I didn't know I was wearing foundation I'm not sure I'd guess that I was!

Despite how well it lasts, taking it off is also really easily done. I find just rubbing a cleansing wipe over my face gets the vast majority of it but I always follow up with cleanser and toner just to be sure. Above all it doesn't have any negative reactions to my sensitive skin and doesn't appear to be doing it any damage.
I absolutely love this powder. It's so light and comfortable to wear but still gives adequate coverage and does absolute wonders for my uneven skin tone and dark circles under my eyes. It really does give a natural look, lasts a decent amount of time in the right conditions and makes my face look and feel healthy and really smooth. Definitely recommended and I shall definitely be trying more products from this range when money permits.
