Eyeliner is the one make-up item I wear regularly but have never found 'the one'. Every time my eye liner needs replacing I go on the search for a different one because there's bound to be something I didn't like about the last one. I don't really do anything fancy with eyeliners and just like to use a pencil to create a thin black line along the bottom of my eye to add some definition. Eyeliners I've used in the past have been too harsh on my waterline, smudged too easily or faded too quickly, the worst ones are a combination of all three! Not too long ago I discovered the wonders of Une make-up. After trying their mineral face powder and absolutely loving it I decided their eyeliner would be worth a try also.
Une are a make-up company who create cruelty free and natural cosmetic items. Their make-up is designed to enhance your 'natural beauty'. Whilst I'm happy to wear bright reds and pinks on a night out, for everyday wear I prefer something much more subtle and natural looking and Une cater just for this look. With a philosophy which states (along with many other things) 'All that I surround myself with is as respectful of the environment as I am' you can be pretty sure Une products are environmentally friendly too with eco-friendly packaging and sixteen out of twenty products being certified as ecological cosmetics. Their items are kind to the skin, planet and animals and, best of all, they really do work.
I picked up my eye pencil from Boots where it cost me £5.29. Of course you can pick up an eyeliner for less but with the difference in quality I'd strongly recommend paying the extra few pounds as this one is definitely the best I've ever used. Une cosmetics are also on three for two in Boots at the moment too, an offer I was all too keen to take advantage of!
The pencil comes in twelve different shades which are all colour matched to Une's Stumato eyeshadows. These shades include various different browns, a fleshy beige colour, a couple of dark greens and blues and a black. I purchased shade S29 which is the black one. 100% of the ingredients used in this eye pencil are from natural origin with 35.5% being from organic farming.
Rather than a completely round pencil found with most eyeliners this one is more boxy in that it has four rectangular sides. It's still the same size and thickness as an ordinary eye pencil and is still very easy to hold and use. There's a white plastic lid to place over the eyeliner to protect to too. Green font is used on the pencil to show the Une logo as well as product name and shade and the bottom inch of the pencil is the colour of the eyeliner, mine being black.
The pencil is extremely soft and does just glide on. I get a really intense jet black line with just one sweep over the bottom of my eye, there is no need to go over the same area more than once with this. The result is exactly what I'm after. Just a thin non-obvious looking line which adds definition to the eye, it's perfect for the minimal eyeliner look.
This will last all day. It never fades although I do find it smudges slightly in humidity. The smudging, however, is minimal. When this happens it really it just a case of wiping my finger across the smudged parts and it comes straight off and my eyeliner looks perfect again. For how often it does smudge and how easy it is to correct I really don't find it much of a problem and it definitely doesn't put me off the eyeliner.
The first time I wore this I went in the bath forgetting to take my make-up off, even though I'd given my face a wash and has splashed it with plenty of water I got out of the bath with this eyeliner still perfectly in place. No panda eyes whatsoever had appeared, it hasn't even faded! Needless to say I was pretty impressed. This water resistance is really useful for the unpredictable weather we're having at the moment. I don't find myself worrying about this running when I'm caught out in the rain because it just doesn't happen.
I did wonder if it perhaps lasted too long though. After that face wash incident where it didn't budge at all I assumed this meant it would be a nightmare to remove when I actually wanted to. Oh how I was wrong! I can really only remove this with proper make-up remover but fortunately I have tons of that and use it regularly anyway! I've taken this off with my The Body Shop eye make-up remover and my Simple eye make-up remover pads and both get this off quickly and easily. The eyeliner doesn't irritate or sting my eyes and, in short, it's perfect.
I really cannot stress just how much this product impresses me. I cannot pick a single fault with it. For little over £5 I think it's a complete bargain. I've used eye pencils which have cost nearer to £10 in the past and they've been nowhere near as good as this one. After years of being unhappy with eyeliners I've finally found the one I'm sticking too and I'm pretty sure anyone else who tries this will stick to it too!
