Advantages: stays on, looks fabulous, great range of colours

Disadvantages: pricey but SO worth it!

As has been mentioned before- this product is a little pricey. You're going to be paying at least a tenner per eyeshadow- and the problem with Urban Decay is that their colours are so completely fabulous it's going to be agonising chosing just one, and it'll invariably be the wrong one- a sensible brown, and you'll come home and find yourself lusting after lurid cobalt blue- but come home with an electric pink, you'll look at yourself incredulously in the mirror thinking "what?"...

So that's why I'd recommend buying a set. Eyeshadow lasts forever, anyway, so buy a gift set with six or so mini-colours, (you're probably looking at about £25ish or perhaps slightly more... less if you look online, though). I've got a tiny flip-open set of eight colours, 0.8g each, with two little brushes and a mirror, which gives me a girly thrill every time I open it. What shall I wear today?

Yes, this works as "grown-up" eyeshadow, apply-every-day-out-of-habit eyeshadow, but it is SO much more fun if you can use it like some crazy pallette of a million colours to blend, and have purples and blues and pinks all vibrantly framing your eyes in a wonderous manner. It's make-up you'll look forward to putting on, that even the usually low-maintenence girl will want to get a proper brush out and go all cyber-luminous, and wonder whether they should use a different colour for their eye-crease and brow-bone.

That said, it works as a bleary smear-on, as well. For the punky rock chick, couldn't-care-less attitue, just stick on some Roach (dusty brown) or Midnight Cowboy (glittery subtle beige), or if you're that way inclined, a bit of Grind (gloriously feminine pale pink). You don't need to spend forever on it (but you'll want to), the sheer vibrance of the eyeshadow just works, in whatever context.

The great packaging and amazing range of proper WOW colours aside, it's an eyeshadow that works exactly like it should- the colour goes on your eyes just like it looks in the pot, feels smooth and silky, doesn't crease, and lasts all day. It's extremely resiliant, even if it's 30 degrees and the rest of your make up is running down your face, at the end of the day your urban decay eyeshadow will look freshly applied and iridescent. That's what I like about- it's a feisty little product that knows you want to be the centre of attention.

My personal favourite for everday-use would be Lounge- as someone with brown eyes, it's hard to find a subtle eyeshadow that doesn't look TOO subtle, to the point of being tedious and muddy. What Lounge is, is an incredibly bright, shimmery blend of dark brown with electric green tones. You'll have to take my word for it, til you've seen it for yourself. It brings out all the highlights in my eyes, and manages to look sensible but striking all at once. Great colour, and a great product!

Summary: You'll be converted.
