Urban Decay Nail Polish
Advantages: Nice shiny finish, good quality
I have only become aware of Urban Decay in the last year or so and I had actually never paid any attention to the brand until very recently. I always thought it was the brand for the younger girl...daring colours and bold looks. Not for the regualar mother of two / business-woman...no sir ee!!
THEN... with my cousins wedding fast approaching and my new amazing purple dress staring at me from the closet..I ran into a problem. I'm always the same. I try to have everything organised weeks in advance so I won't forget a thing. Not an easy task these days with two kids tagging along, waiting to be dressed and accessoized along with myself! Oh the stress of it all!! I hate having bare nails on a normal day, so for an event like this I knew I had to cover up, nail wise. Imagine my disgust when I rifled through my nail polishes for a suitable colour. There was beautiful blues, gorgeous greens, ravishing reds....even a white?? No purple...nothing even similar to a purple. No lilacs, No indigos, No violets!!!!
So off I go in search of a suitable shade. I went where I always go in a crises...straight to Debenhams. I was instantly attracted to the Urban Decay stands...the first thing I noticed were the colours. The sheer selection. WOW!! I had so many purples to choose from and in the end went for a striking indigo colour.
I got a darker shade then is shown in this picture but they were all retailing at the same price. They came in sets with a multitude of colours or just single little jars. I paid Euro8 for my pot and I actually noticed right away how little it was in comparison to normal jar of nail varnish. So for this minature size I felt the price wasn't right. However, not to worry, I did get what I was looking for and the shade seemed right, so fingers crossed
After I prepped my nails with primer polish and a bit of filing and cuticle removing etc, I applied the polish. Even after one coat though I was impressed, it was a perfect indigo colour with a nice shine finish. It took about the normal 5 minutes or so to dry before I could apply a second coat. After this though, the results still looked the same so there would be no need for a second coat. I got around three days wear before my varnish started to chip and look ragged.
I personally wouldn't go for Urban Decay again, mainly as the price did not match the quantity, although quality wise I did get my monies worth. The colour was also quite bright and I would only wear it for special occasions and not for everyday wear.
Summary: Not for everyday wear but would be nice on occasions
