Urban Decay Naked Palette
Advantages: huge variety, nice packaging, long lasting colour.
Disadvantages: I guess the packaging could be more secure.
Now my headlines got your attention, I can talk about how impressed I am with the Naked Palette by Urban Decay. Like most of my make up, it was bought for me as a present so I can't comment on the price but I don't think it's too expensive. I was never really in the market for neutral colours as I like to try out the more daring of eye make up but hey it was free make up so I'd give it a try.
The packaging i really nice and what the picture above doesn't show is that it comes with a small sample of Urban Decay's notoriously good eye primer which is an added bonus! The box has a soft exterior and is secured shut through magnets which line the edges of the box. This makes it very easy to open but it also does stay pretty secure. I haven't had any mishaps as of yet where the box opens in my mass of a make up bag and goes everywhere, bonus. There is also a decent sized mirror inside the lid which I'm sure will come in handy when I take it outside of my room.
The free brush inside is lovely and soft and makes it very easy to apply eye shadow and distribute it well. No matter what skin tone you are, I can't see how you would have a problem finding a particular shadow colour for you. There are an all mighty 12 shades to pick from, including enough variety to make as many different smokey eyes as you want. Eye shadow that reals grates on me are the ones that are so powdery that they go absolutely everywhere and are so flaky that they don't last very long on your eyelid. Urban Decay have knocked those failures of eye shadows right out of the park. In terms of consistency, they are the smoothest eye shadows I own which is surprising considering they are still black eye shadows not mousse eye shadows. Because of this silky texture, I have found that the eye shadow quite a long time. The colour wears down slightly throughout the day but not by much, it still looks pretty well kept by the end of the day. I have found if you apply a small layer of foundation or some kind of smooth make up over the lid before applying the make up, the colour does stay more vivd for longer, either that or use the included primer.
Genuinely very impressed with this product and it's quickly become one of my must haves for days when I CBA to do something very elaborate. Thumbs up from me!
Summary: Good buy and very practical.
