Of course, this product is a huge gimmick. The true selling point of the Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lipgloss is the packaging.
Each lipgloss colour is called after a different man's name. The top of the gloss has a photograph of a man, fully clothed, only to find that if you turn it a certain way he magically appears in his underwear! The ink on the gloss tube is imprinted with pheremones, allegedly if you rub it on yourself it gives off a scent which is attractive to men, I must say I have never tried this so I can't testify as to whether this works or not!
Admittedly, I really was not interested in these novelties. I was looking a coloured lipgloss that wasnt too sticky and that applied with a brush rather than a doefoot applicator. The Pocket Rocket really seemed to fit this bill. The gloss itself really is great and is very long lasting. The only really off putting thing for me is the smell/ taste. It is supposed to be creme brulee but to me I think it smells like cinnamon or curry: really weird and everytime I go to reach for it, I use a different lipgloss instead. I've heard some people say they love the smell, so maybe it's justy down to personal preference.
It's a shame, as in every other respect its fantastic. If only the scent was more bareable, I'd probably own every one!
A friend of mine started going on about these glosses last year before they were even made - I think. Saying that some company was making a lipgloss with a stripping man on the front but I just thought she was lying - to of my favourite things in one? Make-up & a hot man? Sounded way to good to be true so I totally forgot about it after that until I saw these on sale in Boots a few weeks back and I simply had to buy one or maybe two straight away - the only hard part was figuring out which one to buy! I had no idea what the gloss inside these were going to be likebut when the packaging is that funky I really didnt care. Its definately the best lookig lipgloss I own LOL Ive even had to buy my mom one as she loved it as well.
Price: Around £9 But On Sale At The Minute In Boots
Stockists: Boots, Debenhams, House Of Fraser ETC
Shades: Colin - Orange Red, Doug - Medium Pink, James - Hot Pink, Julio - White, Max - Pinky Nude, David - Mauve, Eric - Sheer Red, Jesse - Blackberry, Kirk - Nude & Timothy - Coral Glow. I personally own the "James" shade but I think all of them are quite nice - maybe with the exception of Julio and I think everyone will be able to find something the like here - and I mean in the colours NOT the men LOL.
On the top of this gloss is a picture of the man you chose full clothed but that can be easily solved by simply turning the gloss upside down and then the man will take his clothes off. James has a very nice body I have to say - there is now also a back view which I think is a new feature. This gloss would be such a great gift for things like hen nights and birthdays Id love to get this a joky gift. The packaging is certainly funky!
Now I bet you would expect this gloss inside to be really crap because I did and shockingly it is really great. It isnt sticky or runny at all and the colour is really bright and highly pigmented without looking to bold and brash so you can still wear it in the day. The colour stays on your lips for ages after application and I only have to reapply this once at the most on a day out so the staying power is brilliant. It even tastes nice! Proper sweet and sugary so I have to be very careul not to eat all this off when I use it.
Amazingly this lipgloss also has another use. When you rub the tube it releases pheromones into the air which are said to enhance the mood and increases sexual attraction - might have to give that a try one day LOL. Anyway I do highly recommend this gloss because the packaging is well funky, the gloss is brilliant and lets face it what woman doesnt want to look at any of these hot men haha! Im not a perv....honestly!

I bought this lipgloss after one of the makeup counter women in debenhams insisted on trying it on me, I usually don't like this as i feel obliged to buy the products they try on me, and often leave feeling very poor and more than a little disatisfied. However i am glad to say that this was not the case with this product, the woman was very nice and picked a colur that suited me perfectly, she chose 'kirk' a very natural colour, she also applied the urban decay lip liner which gave a really nice definition to my lip, but which i thought was a bit pricey at £10.50.
This is quite a pricey lipgloss at around £11, however it seems as though it will last a long time, although i cannot really guarantee this since i only bought it last week. What I love about the product is that it stays on for a very long time, unlike other lipglosses which need constant application, however i will say that it is not brilliant if you are eating or drinking, as some of the colour does tent to come off. It is also quite sticky, which i find annoying, my hair sticks to it, and my boyfriend doesn't like it much either as it leaves residue on him if we kiss. The colours are very nice and natural though, and the woman at the counter advised me that filling in your lip with liner will make the lipgloss stay on even longer.
I absolutely love this products packaging, it comes in a long tube, which is much flatter than your average lipgloss so that you can fit it easily into your pocket with no bulge, hence 'pocket rocket'. What i love most about the packaging is the funky twist urban decay have added to the lid, each lipgloss has a different holographic image of a male model on the lid, who changes from clothing to underwear, and incase this is important to you yo get both front and back views :) The colours are named after the guys on the lids as well, I think this is actually quite useful as you can match the name to the person and remember which lipgloss it is that way if you're looking for a specific lipgloss.
I conclusion, I think that this lipgloss was a very good investment, it is shiny but natural and i think it's perfect for both daywear and a night out. I love the packaging, but the only things i dont like about the product are that it makes my lips sticky and it is also a bit pricey. However I would still recommend it to friends.
Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss is a fun somewhat novelty gloss from Urban Decay. It costs around £11 depending on which store you go to, and is available in Boots, department stores and Amazon.
The big selling point for this lip gloss is the packaging. Instead of the usual cylinder shape, this one is flat so it fits nicely in your pocket. It's much more practical to carry around since it doesn't make your pockets bulge.
The other main feature is the hologram on the lid. Each shade has a different man on the lid and by tilting the package you can switch between fully dressed and boxers with both a front and back view. This makes the product feel a little as if it's aimed at teen girls but I still found it fun and it didn't stop me buying the it.
The gloss itself is a good consistency, going on smoothly and evenly. Unlike some glosses it wasn't too sticky on my lips. It has a pleasant caramel flavour and scent. It didn't really notice the taste after it was on but the smell lingered most of the day. If you don't like caramel, this may not be for you.
The range of colours is good, and the one I have, Timothy, is very natural looking and stayed shiny for hours. It didn't transfer onto glasses much and stayed on when eating. There are currently 9 shades, each with a male name, and these range from nude to reds, pinks and corals, to sparkly.
As an extra little gimmick, if you rub the packaging it releases pheramones. I can't say I've noticed any effect though.
Like another reviewer on here I have this lipgloss in James. It looks a very sparkly bright pink in the tube, so I was a bit scared to try it on at first but it is really wearable on the lips! The shape of the tube is very unusual, it is basically a flattened, elongated oval. It's designed to slide smoothly into your pocket without leaving a weird bump and in this respect it succeeds, no question! I think the packaging has been really well designed, it's sturdy, it's got the name of the company and the shade of the lipgloss on, so you won't ever forget where it came from and be flummoxed as where to buy another one, as has happened to me with at least one lipstick!
As to the lipgloss itself, it has a lovely smell. At first I thought it was chocolate, but it's more like a baked creme brulee scent. The gloss is thick, but not unattractively so and stays on for quite a while. It also has an actual brush (that is, with hairs) which makes it much easier to apply and blend the gloss.
I got this as a present, but I'm going to be buying the other shades soon as I can!
I have this lipgloss in the shade "James" a pink with blue reflects. The premise behind these glosses is that on the top there is a holographic image of a man who appears clothed or semi naked depending what angle you look at these from. Hence the shade names are all that of boys. Also when you rub the top of the package, pheremones are released which are supposed to make you appear more attractive to the opposite sex. The packaging on these is designed to fit in your pocket (again hence the name) and are shaped as a flat yet rather large oval shape. The applicator on these is a brush rather than the typical doe foot applicator which I personally prefer as the gloss goes on better with a brush. The consistency isn't too thick or thin and the colour lasts ages on the lips with a high shine. "James" looks like a hot pink colour in the tube but actually goes on a nice subtle pink with the blue reflects showing through, so you don't have to be scared about wearing this, it's a very wearable colour. All in all very impressed and will definitely have to buy more of these!
I had heard of Uban Decay cosmetics before and had read about them in magazines, but I thought that only the big department stores stocked it and that it was expensive. So much to my surprise when I went into my small local Boots, I discovered a reduced basket of assorted cosmetics and sitting in this was 2 Urban Decay Lip Glosses. Both were the same shade of a medium pinky colour.
They had been reduced down to £3.20, on picking one up it was diferent to any other one that I have had before, in more ways than one!
The lip gloss is in an oval flat, hard plastic casing which is clear for you to see the exact shade it is. This has URBAN*DECAY written along the capsule
with Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss written underneath. I thought well this seems
a nice shade so I will buy it. My Daughter was with me and said " Your not buying that are you " where I replied "Why not?". Then she pointed at the
screw top lid.
Well the lid is about an inch long with a silver band at the bottom then above there is a white background with a nice gentleman standing there
in a very nice suit, but then when I twisted it about all his clothes disappear
and he is left in his boxers Thank God!!
Well I find things like this very funny so there was no way I wasn't going to get this now!!
So getting back to the review this lip gloss also had another surprise for me
as when I unscrewed it and slide some onto my lips the strong smell of
Creme Brulee and the taste was strong on my lips as well. I'm not particulary
fond of this taste or smell, but it is great if you do like Creme Brulee. The lip gloss has a tiny brush which is great for getting a fine line on your lips and glides on lovely. My man is called David and you can get others like Doug, Eric, Jesse, James, Kirk , Timothy and Julio. Julio is their best seller as he is a clear white lip gloss. The idea of this unusual shape is so it will slip into your
pocket without causing it to bulge.
Urban Decay first started out in January 1996 which began with 10 shades of lipstick and 12 shades of nail enamel. The lady who started this company was called Sandy Lerner, she was tired of never having the shade she wanted or something that was completely different. She launched her first
campaign with the advertisment " Does Pink Make You Puke" . the colours
had very different names to the usual brands and stood out. She got her
names and inspirations from the beautiful hues of America's urban landscapes.
In 1998 the Urban Decay company opened a Website where you could purchase goods and also get make-up tips as well. This continued until
2000 when Moet-Hennessey Louis Vuitton adopted the company until 2002,
when it then was again taken over by 3 businessmen who were brothers
until this very day.
Urban Decay also do a range of Vegan cosmetics ( even though they are a
cruelty free company) this can be found with a logo next to it called Marley
Approved ( Marleys purple paw print).
So I'm still using my lip gloss and have got used to the taste of Creme Brulee
it seems to last forever ( the lip gloss not the taste!). I would buy another one at full price which is around the £10-£12 price, the only problem is WHICH MAN DO I BUY !!!!!!!
