Not long ago I was shopping in Ethel Austin when I came across this lip gloss. At the time Ethel Austin was closing down, sadly, but at least this meant the shop was full of sales, sales and more sales. There were bargains everywhere. Me and a friend were rooting through a big box of discounted beauty products when we came across this lip gloss. I had never tried anything from Urban Decay before, I had only heard that it was quite an expensive range and that the stuff it sells was pretty good. I couldn't believe it when I saw this was only 75p. My friend and I had a bit of a scramble over who was going to get this, but then luckily we found another one so our friendship was saved. The colour is the silver one shown in the picture, it is called 'pina colada'. It smells really good - I think the fragrance is the best thing about this product actually. It is quite fruity and sweet. It doesn't taste as good as it smells though. This doesn't look that good on your lips. It hardly shows up, and because it is a silvery white colour your lips just look quite ghostly. The image you would get from hearing such an exotically named lipgloss is that it would be quite exotically coloured, but it isn't unfortunately. I don't think I would recommend this because although it smells nice, it just doesn't look good on. It was a bargain but I wouldn't buy it again.
First of all, I absolutely adore Urban Decay, so when I saw these cute little glosses I had to purchase one! AVAILABILITY: I actually bought my Shot-o-gloss at Ethel Austins in the make up section. They had a choice out of Mai Tai (brown colour) or Pina Colada (Clear shimmer) but they didn't have the pink shade. As far as i'm aware, Urban Decay has actually discontinued this product as it isn't available at the Urban Decay counters. However you can purchase this on E-bay, Amazon and other Cosmetic online stores. I'd say its a little tricky to get a hold of. PRICE: I believe that the orignal price of this gloss was £12.50 before it was discontinued. I have to admit it isn't worth that much. However mine was £1.50 from Ethels which was such a bargain as they are very high quality products. On E-bay and Amazon they range from about £3-£5. I wouldn't pay more than around £6 for this gloss though. If you can find the gloss for £6 or cheaper then I would reccomend purchasing as it is worth the money. PACKAGING: The packaging of these glosses is adorable. They come in a clear tube which reveals the colour of the gloss. The lid is a regular screw of white lid which contrasts well against the clear tube. At the top of the lid there is a star shaped diamond which I love! Makes the gloss look very expensive and pretty. On the clear tube 'Pina Colada Shot-O-Gloss' is written across the front in fancy letters and 'Urban Decay' is written in smaller white letters above it. Very pretty packaging overall. PRODUCT: The lip colour comes in 3 flavours: *Pina Colada (Clear, white shimmer) *Mai Tai (Brown, tan golden shimmer) *Cosmopolitan (Purplish pink shimmer) My personal favourite is Pina Colada, as I like to leave my lips a very neutral colour. The cosmopolitan colour is also a very pretty shade and perfect for nights out. The applicator is a regular sponge applicator, however not alot of product comes out on the applicator so you find yourself constantly digging into the tube for more product. I feel Urban Decay would have benefited greatly from using a brush applicator instead. The smell of the Pina Colada gloss reminds me of the Red Bull drink. Also, as you may have guessed, there is a slight hint of vodka smell but it isn't too overpowering dont worry! The lipgloss glides on very smoothly with a hint of shimmer, however the shimmer isn't tacky at all and just gives a nice glow on your lips and catches the light on the dancefloor! The gloss doesn't have the longest staying power in the world, although it does stay on for a good hour or so and it isn't hard to top up every now and again. Overall I would reccomend these glosses if you can get ahold of them. Perfect for nights out or daytime wear as they can be worn alone or over lipstick! Great products.
I'm mad on Urban Decay, it's got to be my fave brand of make up. I have tried all 3 varieties of this as well as a lot of the other items in the range. Product= The items in this range are named after cocktails, Cosmopolitan, Pina Colada and Mai Tai and are flavoured in these. Cosmo is lovely and has a great long lasting pink sheen, the taste is flippin fab and is a bit of a sweet treat with a hint of very subtle sparkle. Pina Colada is tasty and leaves a pearly white sheen to the lips, I would not use too much of this at one time though as the whitish element is a bit overpowering although on a different skin tone this may work. Mai Tai tastes ace and is quite browny bronze amd a good hint of shine, this will be fab on darker skinned people and would look lush.. As a really pale skinned person my personal fave is the Cosmo as it suits me the best, Mai Tai did not work with my very fair skin and Pina Colada is ok but find I can't use too much as the colour looks odd on me again. The product is not sticky at all I found the consistency just right and the small dab applicator gives just the right amount without over load. One tube can prove to be quite long lasting. Packaging= The tube is lovely and the lid is topped with a little rhinestone star which I think is a lovely little touch. The size of the tube at 3.8g is generous. Where to purchase= Not sure if this is a discontinued line but it readily available from eBay etc, I got about 8 of these for £4 in total but doubt that would happen again. Expect to pay about £4 for one, always look for thest deal. Summary= Well worth trying, I would recommened Cosmo and Pina Colada for fairer people and Mai Tai will look amazing on darker skinned folks. If you can pick it up at a good price make sure you get stocked up!
I love everything about Urban Decay products, the packaging they use, the colours, the scent of the products, so once again as I was walking past the Urban Decay counter I had an urge to buy yet another product from the collection and this time it was the "Shot o gloss" My favourite product before buying the shot o gloss was the eye shadows, because if you are familiar with Urban Decay's eye shadow range you too will know how amazing the colours are and how highly pigmented the products are and how amazing they look when applied. What Urban Decay Say About The Product.... All the fun of a cocktail without the calories or the hangover. This slick, not too tacky formula glides on sheer, leaving a subtle wash of color and a hint of shimmer. The finish is a slick shine - glossy, but not TOO glossy. Very sophisticated, very sexy, and looks equally luscious in daylight or barlight. Each shade takes its name and flavor from a popular cocktail. (Sorry, ladies. Alcohol not included.) The Packaging.... The product came in a transparent sleeve. The tube is plastic and transparent , on the side of the tube it states the product is by Urban Decay and is Pina Colada, Shot-O-Gloss. The lid is white and to remove it all you do is twists it off which you can see a plastic wand with a slanted applicator at the end to apply the lip gloss with. Using It.... The manufacturer states that the product leaves a "subtle wash of colour" however the product didn't leave any colour on my lips im unsure whether thats because i have dark lips or whether it just doesn't leave any colour like its suppose to. Like I said before I've always loved the quality of Urban Decays product and this once again ticks all the boxes. This lip-gloss is great, It's a shame it doesn't leave a bit of colour but its still a very good product it has a good staying power and it doesn't come off when I've eaten or had something to drink, it makes my lips look plump and leaves my lips looking the most luscious they've looked! The taste and smell of this product isn't too bad, It smells a bit like pineapple, I'm not a pineapple fan but it isn't offensive. The product is easy to apply using the applicator. Because the product left no colour on my lips I apply it over matte lipstick to give it a colour gloss look. So I have gorgeous coloured glossy lips. My verdict of this product This product is excellent its great to apply over lipstick, its easy to apply and makes my lips look a hell of a lot bigger, move off Angelina Jolie!
I've just read the other reviews for this product and i'm quite shocked that it hasn't been given a 5/5. I have this lipgloss in both Pina Colada and Mai Tai. I'm trying desperately to find Cosmopolitan as I absolutely ADORE these lipglosses. Now it says in the side bar here they cost £8.50 which makes me feel quite amazing that I got such a good bargain. I found the Pina Colada lipgloss in B&M for £1.75. I found the Mai Tai lipgloss in Ethel Austin for 75p. So that makes the lipglosses alot nicer haha. Okay so i'll start with the Pina Colada. It's a white shimmer in the bottle but on the lips it's a subtle silvery shimmer (not robot silver). I suppose it's just like a clear gloss but with some glitter. It's very pretty. It tastes sweet and is really pleasant to have on. It's my favourite of the two. The bottle is adorable. The other lipgloss I have is Mai Tai. It's a brown shimmery colour, which goes on like the Pina Colada but a little darker. It won't go on your lips like the colour in the bottle, don't worry. Taste wise, I think it tastes like banana. Again, really pleasant to have on. Overall I absolutely adore these lipglosses and i'm really hoping i find the Cosmopoliton one soon. I'd recommend them to anyone as some lipglosses have a dodgy taste to them. These are just scrummy.
I bought one of these Urban Decay shot-o-gloss a year or so ago but am not sure if you can still get these in the shops as I haven't seen them for ages... There are more products in the Urban Decay cocktail cosmetics range, they also have body balms and powder brushes. These lip glosses are about £11 but prices may vary. There are 3 varieties in this cocktails range; Cosmopolitan (pink), Mai Tai (golden) and Pina Colada (clear/ silver). The tubes are made of clear plastic and the lids correspond with the colour of the lip gloss inside. They have a little sponge tip applicator that get slimmer towards the end for precise application. The gloss smells of the cocktail it's named after and the colour is very sheer and there's some sparkle to add dimension to the lips. You can build colour and shine by applying more layers. It feels nice on the lips and I like the colour of the pink. I would have ideally wanted a bit more colour but I guess it's meant to be sheer. This lip gloss is ok as a novelty present but I would not buy again because of the price and the fact that it's not as pigmented or shiny as I'd like.
I love Urban Decay Lip glosses, and when they brought out the new range - "Shot-O-Gloss" I couldn't wait to try them out! There are 3 colours which all have a summery, tropical theme to them, matching other products in the Urban Decay Cocktail Collection. There is Pina Colada - a white shimmer, Mai Tai - a golden shimmer and Cosmopolitan - a pink shimmer, each shade takes its name from a popular cocktail. ~Packaging~ The glosses come in a clear plastic box, with grey/silver writing stating the brand name - Urban Decay and the flavour e.g. Mai Tai. On one side is the ingredients and on another, this quote: "All the fun of a tropical cocktail without the calories or the hangover"! This is the disposeable packaging, the actual container for the lip gloss is a long, sleek, clear plastic tube with the brand and product name. The cap is a metallic colour similar to that of the lipgloss, and there is a silver star on the top [in my opinion this looks abit tacky and childish - not v.classy!]. The tube holds 3.8g. ~Application~ The glosses are applied with a sponge-foam applicator with a slanted tip [the usual really!] they manage to hold just the right amount and are soft on the lips. ~Smell~ Each product has a different smell - the Pina Colada is my favourite as it has a refreshing pineapple smell with a hint of coconut and a lot of sweetness! Mai Tai is hard to describe apart from "exotic", and Cosmopolitan smells fruity and fresh. ~Durability and Consistency~ The gloss didn't meet my expectations on it being long lasting as it isn't a very thick formula. It lasts for around 1 hour before needing to be reapplied. It isn't too sticky, and not too runny either. Just about right in my opinion! The gloss was very smooth and didn't have a really shiny look to it, just a well moisturised appearance. It feels a real luxury to wear them! ~Colour~ The colour is quite sheer - when the Pina Colada gloss was described as "white" I was abit worried, but it is such a great colour! It gives a shimmer without adding colour, to really enhance nude lips. The mai tai is like a bronzer for you tips, giving them a golden brown colour - very nice but doesn't seem to match with clothing or makeup combinations. Cosmopolitan is a very girly barely there pink with shimmer, it is a nice everyday gloss, but I wouldn't say this one was worth £8.50. ~Overall~ My favourite gloss is Pina Colada because it is unusual to find a gloss which adds shimmer but not colour. If you hunt around, you can probably find it on the internet for £2.80 ish, but when I bought mine, it was a new product line and I think I paid around £8.99 for each one.
I've written a few reviews on Urban Decay products over my time here on Dooyoo. I love them from the funky name, to the quirky packaging and I love the eye shadows (I use them most of the time) and I love lip gunk lip glosses too! What helped my addiction which at the time was actually really hurting my finances more than you can imagine was that I spotted a load of Urban Decay products going really dirt cheap in my local T.J Hughes store and knowing the savings I was making on a brand I loved very much I bought one in every colour of everything available to me which short term actually really battered my finances! One of the products I purchased was this 'Urban Decay, Pina Colada, 'Shot-O-Gloss'. The Packaging.... Came in a see through protective sleeve basically telling me who is it by and what it is. Then the tube (which has no size stated on it but I have found out it weighs 4g from the Urban Decay website) is plastic and see through and on the side of the tube I'm told in white writing that it is indeed by Urban Decay, Pina Colada, Shot-O-Gloss. The lid is white with a sort of glass star ingrained into it and it twists on and off to reveal a white plastic wand with a slanted hard spongy applicator at the end to apply the gloss with (of course lol). On the bottom of the tube I'm simply told it is Pina Colada Lip Gloss yet again. Alcohol not included.) Using It.... Well as your well aware by now my flavour/gloss is Pina Colada and so in my case it's a see through shimmery gloss which in the tube looks white and shiny but doesn't go on that way it does go on very sheer and has no colour in it at all. The other colour/flavours in the range are 'Cosmopolitan' which is a darkish pink shimmer and is meant to be sweet and tart in flavour and 'Mai Tai' which is a golden shimmer and is meant to taste of tropical fruits. I haven't used or tasted the other two so I can't comment on them. Mine, the pina colada is meant to taste of pineapple and coconut. So firstly is it easy to use? Yes and no. It's easy to use with the applicator yes on to bare lips to add shimmer but personally I don't want nude lips. It glides over lipstick great but makes the applicator dirty and colours the gloss so no good to me that way either as I'm a fussy devil. So me I apply it off the applicator and on to my finger which isn't an issue you just have to have a little bit of tissue on hand to wipe fingers with afterwards. It goes on like a dream and it isn't one bit sticky and a little goes a long way. Now mine does taste, and it tastes of fruit but I wouldn't say I'd recognise it as pina colada flavour and I certainly wouldn't have guessed it was supposed to taste of pineapple or coconuts in a million years but it does taste and smell rather fruity. Smell wise it's delicious and sweet and when applied on lips yes tastes nice but the more you lick the more you get odd aftertaste that hangs about in your mouth for ages. This is great to use if your not eating, drinking or smoking but it does taste so if your doing these activities do prepare to flavour say a ciggie! Eating with it on is a nightmare. trust me you don't wanna eat a curry with this on (I've tried!). Flavour goes everywhere but not the gloss itself. Basically this is one to sit and look attractive wearing rather than do anything so pucker up girls and pout! Shimmer wise it isn't in your face and blinging. Being called shot-o-gloss I don't know what I was expecting and with it being cocktail flavoured as well I think I expected it to be an in your face product. It really isn't. It gives a really nice natural shine as it has no glitter in it and that shine stays nice until the whole lot just comes off. Out of habit you do keep licking it but it but I have to fair it stays put about an hour which isn't bad. It doesn't feel heavy, sticky, it doesn't smudge or transfer off too badly on to things and it really does feel like a nice lip balm and it does moisturise lips the well! I've only seen these on sale in Boots and they are about £9.00 each. Not sure if they're worth that price tag to be honest but if like me you see them on sale cheaper definetley worth buyig and popping in your handbag!
