I got a mini Supercurl Curling Mascara in an Urban Decay set I bought last year, called the Urban Bride set. No, I'm not getting married! I just liked the look of the set and the included products.
The mascara is designed to boost the curl of your eyelashes and separate them so that they look stunning and impressive. Urban Decay state that the wand has been specially moulded and curved to shape lashes and hold the curl all day. Some of the ingredients included in the mascara are glycoprotein for thickening, moringa seeds to define curls, and Meadowfoam seed oil and shea butter to condition and smooth. It's rather unusual for any mascara to state ingredients in this lauraway, and most ingredients are unidentifiable chemicals in any case, so I found this intriguing and unusual.
The mascara tube is very attractive. It is a straight tube with a gunmetal finish, covered in swirling black scrolls. It is like a modern version of a vintage style. The wand just looked like a normal curved mascara wand to me, but I decided to give it a go.
I found the mascara was very easy to apply and didn't clump at all. The curved brush made it easy to reach all eyelashes, including those at the corners and bottom lashes. One coat was enough for a pretty daytime look; if I was going out I added another coat for a dramatic look.
I found that this mascara lasted all day without flaking or running, even though it is not described as waterproof. I was impressed with the curling effect too - I used it without eyelash curlers in an effort to assess the mascara on its own merits, and thought it did a great job. My eyelashes are short and fair but this mascara really emphasised them and made them more dramatic. I don't think this mascara would be for those who want a really natural look - even one coat is fairly dramatic (but still suitable for daytime).
The only minor negative I have to note is that the mascara was a little harder to remove than some others I have tried. I was still able to remove it but had to make a bit more effort with my eye makeup remover. I guess this is a good sign in a way as it provides reassurance that it won't come off in the rain, for example!
This mascara is priced at £15 which is more expensive than the likes of Rimmel, but cheaper than brands such as Lancome. I would definitely consider repurchasing as I feel this is a fair price to pay.
I am really impressed with this mascara. It lives up to its claims and creates a really good look. I can't really award less than five stars.
