Advantages: Gorgeous Healthy Silky Glow and Vegan friendly!
Disadvantages: None for me
I have tried so many foundations in the years gone by and have experienced all kinds of disappointments from the orange complexion look to the not blended in well look and many many variations in between. So onwards I went with my research - the best results I had so far were from using a mineral make up from America and even though I was happy with it there was just a little bit of something that I wasn't quite happy with and also the postal charges have shot up so much that I could not afford it now.
My 3 most important requirements :
1. Vegan friendly and cruelty free
2. Great shade that looks natural and not orangy
3. Good and natural coverage without noticeable flaws
So search I did and eventually arrived at a very good place indeed!
In a nutshell this company is pretty much spot on for my number 1 requirement as they do not test on animals and as such are cruelty free. Mostly suitable for Vegans too and have a system on the internet so that you can easily see what is Vegan friendly - Marley's Paw, a little paw print is evidence of a Vegan product. There are no animal ingredients in products either.
My number 2 requirement was very impressively met too. With a range of shades to choose from I went for Illusion as I have a pale complexion and this provides a lovely skin tone that suits my face perfectly!
On to number 3 - without a doubt this mineral powder is the best I have tried to date and because Urban Decay are now my absolute favourite make up brand as all their stuff is such high quality and wonderful to use - I can honestly say that the coverage is natural and you can build it up to as much or little as you wish - no flaws will you see as it blends in superbly.
This mineral make up comes boxed and screams quality at you with its gorgeous colour and beautifully presented fonts which display the Logo and information that is easy to understand. The pot once again shouts out loud and clear that this is a quality brand and I always feel it is a luxury and a real treat when I am applying it.
The lid is embossed with the Urban Decay branded design and all feels so nice when you handle it. Beneath the lid is a sponge which is great to apply the powder with and especially if you wish to take it out and apply on the go.
For me I like to use a Kabuki brush which is specific for applying mineral powder. I unscrew the sponge cap carefully and just dip the brush in and then swirl the brush around the lid and tap of any excess powder. Starting at the edge of my face I do a sort of buffing circular motion ( as if I were buffing a car) and then keep doing a little more until I have covered the whole face, working inwards.
Mineral powder needs to warm up before you see the full coverage so wait a few minutes before seeing if you want more coverage. This stuff lasts ages so at £17.00 it is great value for money! I am delighted with the results that this make up provides alone but sometimes I finish off with the Razor sharp for a wonderful flawless look that is photo ready!
The makeup stays on all day long, I never feel the need to reapply and whenever I wear it I get comments on how healthy I look and how nice my skin looks and feels - soft and silky! I also use the Afterglow blusher which adds a real touch of radiance - unbelievable!
Watch out for the 3 for 2 beauty offers at Boots that is when I make most of my purchases for Urban Decay and at the time of updating this review ( November 2010) the offer is on so go get 'em!
Do I recommend this product - well do you want a healthy and natural glow that is a gorgeous natural shade and appears flawless and feels soft to the touch, indeed silky? If so then yes I can highly recommend without hesitation.
