      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Nice to look at but not to use.

I bought this in Cocoa, a warm brown colour, a while back. It was on special offer, which is a relief in retrospect.

The packaging is beautiful, the little tub looks adorable on a dressing table and the little purple tassel is just a bonus bit of impractical glamour. It really is adorable - but in terms of using this is close to my worst nightmare. It's hard to open and close, and the screw top isn't brilliant, a few times this has tipped over and left a sticky mess on my lovely tabletop. Not to mention the inside of my handbag...

And that's before we're even using it!

First, it's gooey. Dipping my finger in it is simple, but smeary. It's hard to get the colour right because it's very subtle and sheer, but just coloured enough that if you go off the edges of your lips, it's very noticeable. A lip brush works, except because it's so gooey there's no resistance and it's easy to get the stuff on the handle of the brush, which isn't terribly hygienic - wash it all you want, some of it's still under the metal at the base.

Second, the smell is lovely, in the pot. But under your nose for hours? It masks everything else, and if you eat or drink the taste of whatever you have is altered by the super-strong scent of the gloss.

Third we already covered a bit. You can't take it out in a handbag without risking a spillage.

Fourth, it's just not intense enough in colour to justify the difficulty in using.

      In summary: nice but no.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not the best UD product

I have used the colour 'Carney' for quite some time now. Mixed opinion really.

      Product=
Slick is not the word, it is really gooey and soft, and be careful if you leave it somewhere hot say for instance in your bag, many a time I've found the product escaped in my bag and by god it leaves a mess! Best keep it somewhere cool, the consistency goes quite firm and you don't tend to smear it all over your finger. Like I say it is quite soft stuff and can be a bit messy on your finger when applying. You will have to re apply quite often it is not long lasting by any stretch of the imagination. It is hard to get the application quite right as often you get too much on your fingerand too much on your lips which can make a mess.

      Colour=
I have only used Carney and the colour really is gorgeous. Perfect for my hair and skin colour. I think the picture that accompanies the review is that of Carney. They do a cooling lip gloss in this shade called XXX Shine and this is a far superior product whilst keeping the same lovely colour.

      Packaging=
Quite cute, found the purple tassels winged their way off the pot after a bit though. Generous size of pot, the screw top is quite weak however so would definitely not recommend to keep this in your bag as the other reviews say don't do it!! It easily warms up and turns into well, an oil slick.

      About Urban Decay=
      (Taken from the website)
It's pretty. Maybe a little twisted. But never prissy. Makeup for your eyes, lips, nails, hair, and skin. It's always beautiful but sometimes unusual. It's makeup for individuals, not for those who want to blend in. Have fun, experiment, toy with a look that borders on dangerous. Shimmer, glitter, sparkle, sheen...use it all and change your face to match your mood. Go from a pixie to a vixen, from a rock star to a starlet. Be who you want to be today, just don't be average. Urban Decay is beauty with an edge. It is feminine, dangerous, and fun...appealing to celebrities, rock stars and anyone who relishes her individuality and dares to express it.

      Where to buy=
I have seen the Urban Decay range at Debenhams and Boots, but nowadays I see it on eBay quite a lot so make sure you have a look for the best prices. This particular line may be finished now.

Product is not terrible but cos I daren't keep it in my bag it really puts me off ever buying it again!!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

if burnt rubber is your thing.....

I was looking for a nice peachy gloss when I ordered this, and silly me trusted the website's description that it was sheer peach. Its more of a champagney-beige color. Very nude and neutral.

The packaging is a sweet but an impractical mess. The lid is hard to screw on and off, and the pot isn't large enough for me to easily dip my finger into. I have to use a lip brush, so it would be a pain on the go.

I don't think I'd take it with me anyway, I'd be afraid the top would pop off and I'd get goo in my purse. The consistency is very slick, Not sticky at all. Its almost oily feeling. The color can go on sheer, and is slightly buildable, but go too far and you look like you've gooped beige vaseline on your lips.

It has some shimmer, but very understated. Just a hint of sparkle. the website also stated it was caramel flavored.

Theres no taste (just very oily) and the smell is like coconut, not caramel! It even almost tastes like burnt plastic!

I paid £12 for this and its really not worth the money considering for a few more pounds you can buy a fantastic lip gloss!

Don't buy the mini version, bigger is better!

My review specifically refers to the mini version of this product, bought in a set of three, which I think is only available at Christmas, being more of a gift purchase. I thought they were extremely cute, with their little tassles and round pots. However, the mini ones are really too small to dip your finger in, especially if you have long nails, meaning you end up with a lot of gunk up your fingernails and not a lot on your finger. Also, I don't know if this is true of the bigger pots, but the screw-on lid often screws off in my make up bag, and on a hot day the lip gloss can melt, leaving my other products covered in a sticky slicky glaze.

About the actual lip gloss, the three flavours I have all smell and even taste delicious, and the colours are lovely (though they all look the same to me when on). The formula is quite moisturising and not sticky or tacky, and has a nice shiny shimmer to it. So as a lip gloss it is on the good side of adequate, but I wouldn't call it anything special, especially when considering the price. What makes this product stand out is the cute packaging and that's it really.

        Disadvantages

Won't be buying this product anytime soon

I recently bought this in Ethel Austin, it was 50p. I won't lie, i wasn't that attracted to it but being Urban Decay, the price really caught my eye and I HAD to buy it.

I purchased it in Cocoa, which is a medium brown colour.

The little pot it comes in, is ADORABLE. It has a little purple tassle on the lid and lets face it, it's cuter than your average lipgloss.

However, that's where the positiveness stops. I'm not keen on the texture of the lipgloss as it's very sticky and gloopy. It smells nutty but when it's on the lips, although it looks nice, the taste and smell is a little too much and i end up wiping it off after 10 minutes.
Thankfully i'm not too bitter about it not being the product for me, as i only paid 50p for it. I wouldn't pay full price for it, i would be furious.

It's quite pretty when it's on. It's very sheer and just very subtle gloss. But it's really not the product for me and i won't be wearing it anytime soon.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

not one of the better urban decays for me

I've only got one of these lip gloss pots, though I'm a huge fan of Urban Decay, this has got to be in my "wouldn't buy again" list.

The gloss itself is quite sheer, it looks very bright in the pot but I never really get that result when I put it on my lips. I also find that the gloss doesn't last that long and I have to keep reapplying every hour or so...

The pot is a pain to work with as well, I much prefer tubes with either an applicator or tubes that can be squeezed directly onto the lips to get the colour out. Having to scoop the gloss out with fingers or a brush can be messy or long-winded, and on the go, this is not ideal.

This gloss is less glossy and vibrant than their lip gunk and for someone who likes their colour quite sheer, I guess this isn't such a bad thing. I don't like the fact that it doesn't last and I have to keep reapplying and the clumsy pot just doesn't do it for me. So, I won't be buying these again as there are far better glosses out there with better applicators.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        XXX

Recently on a shopping trip I came across lots of Urban Decay products in a discount store. After a lot of debating, I came away with two lip glosses - their lip gunk and a pot of Urban Decay XXX Slick Pot Gloss.

        ~About the Product~

This is a lip gloss by Urban Decay that is designed to give a sheer colour, and a soft sheen to the lips. As far as I'm aware there are only four colours available, and each colour of gloss has a different scent. The colours are...

Carney - A pinky brown colour, which is bubblegum scented.
Gash - Delightfully named, I'm sure you'll agree! This is a deep red colour, scented with cherries.
Sin -This is the one I bought, a fairly neutral beige/pink colour, with a coconut scent.
Cocoa - Brown colour, scented with chocolate.

        ~Packaging~

The packaging is undeniably cute. It comes in a little clear plastic pot with lilac writing on it. It has a little screw top lid, which has a little lilac tassel on it, for a bit of added glamour. When you first buy it, it comes in a little square plastic box. Once I opened the box it basically fell apart and couldn't be put back together, but that's not really all that important, I suppose.

        ~Using it~

When you open the gloss, you can smell the lovely coconut scent. It's really nice and really does remind me of summer. I have been applying the gloss with my fingers, but you could use a brush if you like.

The gloss has a lovely texture to it, unlike any gloss I've used before. It's not sticky and really does slick onto the lips. Despite the coconut scent, the gloss doesn't really have much of a taste to it.

        ~Results~

The gloss gives a lovely sheer colour, and intense gloss. The one I bought is matte, so there's no shimmer in it, but it does give the lips a dewy sort of look.

It's perfect for daytime wear, as it's sheer and not too over the top. Unfortunately the main problem I have found with it, is that it needs to be re-applied frequently, as it seems to slide off as easy as it slides on. As soon as you have a drink it will all come off onto the cup, and even without having a drink, it seems to disappear quite quickly.

        ~Price~

As I said, I got this in a discount store (Boyes) and only paid £1.99 for it. I thought that it must be a discontinued product, however it is still showing on the Urban Decay website, and you can still buy it online for its full price of £10.50 at www.hqhair.com

Personally I would not pay the full price for it, because it comes off so frequently.

        ~Conclusion~

I loved the colour and the shiny look, with a hint of sheer colour that I got from this gloss, and the smell is lovely too. On a more negative note however, the staying power of this is almost non-existent, and unfortunately knowing I will have to re-apply it so often, makes it a bit of a pain to use. I don't want to be worrying about my make-up so much when I am out.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not worth a penny unless you want to use it as a treatment

Being a huge fan of Urban Decay products you can only imagine my excitement when I saw a load of different Urban Decay products at £2.00 each in T.J Hughes! I bought one in every type of product in every colour possible! I spent an absolute fortune but talk about worth it!

Now I was in love with the eyeshadow already and had never tried any lip products before from the range and the one I actually had in my head to try (full price or not) was this xxx slick gloss due the cute packaging! (I'm a sucker for cuteness!).

        The Packaging....

Comes in a plastic square box with the pot inside. The pot itself is round and clear plastic and on the side in lilac writing I'm old it's xxx slick, Urban Decay on the front and on the back and then on the bottom there is a lilac label that again tells me it is Urban Decay, xxx slick gloss and the colour (in my case sin) and told that it's 8g in weight. The lid is screw on/off with a lilac tassel attached.

Now the packaging does nice and cute but I want to address this in depth now! Totally unpractical! Being round it's a decent size of product (should be for its usual £8.00 price tag) but it's bulky. I use clutch bags etc when I go out and this is just totally wrong shape to fit nicely in my bags. Also from a distance this looks cuter tan it is. Upon inspection the lilac writing on the side makes it look immature and like kids play make up. everything I first loved about it's appearance I actually find rather annoying.

Should we talk about the lid? Easy to twist off, annoying to line back up and and do it back up properly particularly when out drinking and things. Also it doesn't have an applicator so along with a bulky pot you must remember one and then remember to wipe said applicator before putting it back in a handbag! Try looking for some toilet paper in a Coventry pub at midnight lol

        Using It....

Well firstly I only have the one colour so I can only really review that one. My colour is very sheer and not heavy on the ole colour front at all. Can be worn alone of course for a hint of shimmer and gentle colour or over the top of a colour of your choice. Now in the pot the consistency does look gloopy and none runny but it does appear perfectly smooth and the smell is Divine! Coconuts! Really lovely! Now I apply mine with an applicator which can be a little tricky I find and time consuming and because my colour is so light I can actually apply it with my finger without a problem because I can't use it to define lips anyway as it's too light.

Goes on smooth and not too greasy and certainly not heavy at all. As I said gives a nice, subtle shimmer but not in a plastic trouty pouty way. Does make lips look a little plumper but nothing in your face! Lips looks healthy and for me I love a dab of this over my favourite lipsticks to hydrate and moisturise my lips which it does well. This doesn't go on clumpy and doesn't stick to bits of dry skin but over time actually really does help the texture of lips.

When on the lips it tastes of the coconuts and it smells of them a gentle, yummy way. Durability? None at all. As a treatment on the lips very good as a colour that hangs about 5 minutes tops it just vanishes into thin air in quick smart time! However the effects can be felt on the lips for a couple of hours afterwards.

        Overall....

If your looking for a coloured lipgloss with staying power then this isn't the one for you. I refer you back to the top of my review where I described this as kids make up. Everything about it is rather childish from the packaging to the lovely fragrance and taste. As a treatment that gets lips soft supple and smooth it's fabulous. Personally, not one I like to take out with me and rely on for a night out cos I quite honestly want to be out having fun rather than keep having to apply this every 5 minutes in the loos and application is a little messy with a finger etc so not one of my favourites and a bit of a let down! Won't be repurchasing but then I wouldn't need to often anyway. Even using this often it's a long lasting product!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

I love it even though there are better glosses out there, as a balm it's great!

I'm not quite sure there is anything cuter and yet as stylish, in the beauty world as Urban Decay's XXX Slick Pot Gloss. Just take a look at the photo at the top of the page and will yourself not to fall in love with it. It's gorgeously sweet little fat pot, complete with a kitsch tassel coming from the lid to add a "bit of sass" is perhaps my favourite packaging of a lip gloss of all time.

With its striking packaging jumping right out at me it was almost impossible not to fall head over heels in love with it right there and then. Who said love at first sight doesn't exist? And who said I can be fickle? Me?! Surely not...

Now also, whilst I've had many a find that comes without the brand name, I have to admit I was a little seduced by the fact that I was getting an Urban Decay product at the discount price of £2.50! Yes really, you did read that right!

I was really excited to try the gloss out when I got home and wasted no time. I kind of used my nail to get the lid off, it pulls off, fairly easily, sometimes it needs twisting first, and vice versa to close it; it pushes on but sometimes needs twisting to keep it secure. Perhaps that sounds confusing but it all very easy. Now looking at this pot of gloss which seemed to contain an absolutely huge amount of gloss, whilst still being small enough of a pot to be utterly adorable, I wasn't quite sure what to do. Do I stick my finger in? Do I use a lip brush? It all looked quite gooey so I decided to go for a lip brush. Applying this way I had to say I was slightly disappointed and felt the gloss was only so-so. It did what any other gloss would do, in that it made my lips glossy but I felt relieved that I had only spent an average amount on it, as I felt the results produced were distinctly average, and went away feeling pretty disenchanted.

Fast forward a few days and there I am applying my make up and my lips feel very dry. There I am searching for my anatomicals Stop Cracking Up Lip Balm to let it work it's magic on my lips whilst I'm making up the rest of my face but as is the case with nearly all things I own, I didn't have it to hand. Then I see my XXX Slick Pot Gloss and decide this will have to do to at least lubricate my lips a little, even if it doesn't do them any good, until I go down stairs and get my lip balm. This time I applied it with my finger and oh wow, this is when the sparks of love reignited. I can't even begin to describe what it feels like applying this gloss but I'm pretty sure it's the nicest thing that will ever be on your lips (other than a gorgeous fella that is). Now when it comes to glosses I'm pretty sure I've tried almost everything out there and any gloss wearer knows they all vary in how they feel a little. For example some feel reminiscent of superglue, whilst some feel distinctly less sticky but more greasy, some just feel very glossy but this feels so much different from any gloss, or even balm, that I have ever used. It feels absolutely so silky, when you're applying it I can't even begin to describe how soft and smooth and silky it feels. It's an absolute dream to apply, it's something I can't put into words and even though I've tried to describe how heavenly it is I think it will still take you buy surprise when you use this.

Obviously the effect wasn't noticeable when applied with a lip brush but when rubbed or almost massaged onto the lips with a finger it comes into its own. Now due to the pot, which is lovely, if you have long nails it might be a problem applying it with your finger, which may kind of take some of the fun away. You could always use something to scrape some out of the pot and put it onto your finger but I suppose that is a bit of extra hassle.

Now the gloss itself will vary depending which shade you have. I have "Sin" which as well as having a name I'm instantly drawn to, looked a lovely neutral creamy toffee colour in the pot and has a coconut scent which smells really sweet and absolutely delicious. I know it's also available in Carney, which is a pink shade that is bubblegum scented, Cocoa which is brown and chocolate scented and Gash which is red and cherry scented. I chose Sin because the colour looked quite neutral and I don't like anything to deep on my lips but the gloss is very sheer so I actually think the darker colours may have looked really nice as I think they would have added just a hint of colour, rather than the strong colours that appeared in the pots.

These glosses are actually now discontinued by Urban Decay, which in a way is great news, because not only does it mean they are available in little shops like the one near me that sells discounted brands but also on the discount make up sites for a similar price of around £2.50 for a pot that will last forever.

Urban Decay say that they have a never-before-seen glide and a super soft sheen and I certainly know what they mean, although more in the way they feel than look. Looks wise they do have an almost soft subtle sheen rather than full on wet look. I'll admit I'm not totally wowed by how they look on. That doesn't mean they look bad, they do look lovely, almost a more mature version of a gloss, but I definitely have seen better glosses.

Also, as always with a gloss they don't last long. Now I feel like kicking myself for even saying this because it's like saying, "one down point to this ice-cream is if you live it in the sun it will melt"...just a ridiculous goes-without-saying point to make about something. I AM saying it however because despite the fact that no gloss is going to last all day through kissing/eating/drinking and all the other stuff your lips tend to do in the course of a day, some do have a little more or a little less longevity than others. For example Boots No7 Liplicous or Anatomicals "what a complete and utter glosser" can actually last an hour or two, whereas this gloss, fades away in a matter of minutes. It seriously has no staying power whatsoever. It is said to be a nourishing gloss that literally melts on your mouth and this definitely feels true. On the downside it does seem to just melt away, on the upside it feels lovely and does seem to actually nourish your lips, it's almost like it's somewhere between a gloss and a balm.

So does this gloss actually contain anything in it to nourish your lips? Well, it has beeswax which is a hydrating ingredient that actually increases natural moisture in the skin and also helps seal and protect the skin which is great for your lips. As well as this there is Soybean oil which is both moisturising and healing and is easily absorbed leaving a smooth sensation to the skin, which perhaps explains what makes this feel so nice to apply. There is also Wheat Germ oil which is very high in vitamins, especially Vitamin E, carotene and lecithin which nourish the lips and give some protection against harmful environmental damage such as sun exposure. It also contains Jojoba oil which is a mild oil that absorbs quicikly and is superior to other oils in it's moisturising properties. Finally there is Evening Primrose Oil which is exceptionally high in essentially fatty acids which means it outstanding at conditioning and restoring moisture to the lips.

When you look into all the great ingredients suddenly this doesn't seem like just another lip gloss but an amazing treat for your lips. Personally, where this gloss loses points, is in just that fact: that it is marketed as a gloss. Had this been sold as a balm then I think people would have absolutely raved about it. It feels absolutely heavenly on the lips, and yes it disappears much too quickly for even a gloss, but that's because it's absorbed into your lips and is working its magic on them leaving them soft and nourished. As a gloss, this is average, as a balm it's excellent. It is said to "transform to cushiony perfection when it hits your lips" and that description I think is perfect.

The downside of the absolutely adorable packaging is I wouldn't feel confident in the lid staying put if carrying this about in my hand bag. This means I can't keep topping up lips all day, which would be great as it would feel lovely, keep my lips in tip top condition, and look nice. I have opened my make up bag to find the lid has come off this and whilst no huge mess has been created thus far, it is a strong possibility that it will happen and I certainly wouldn't want the contents of my hand bag covered in goo! That really limits this gloss because as a gloss there is almost no point putting it on whilst doing your make up and not having it with you to top up, as it probably won't last much longer than you leaving the bathroom, putting your shoes on and stepping out of your front door. Instead I now use this as the way I used it when I came to love it, as my lip balm for when I'm doing my make up. I apply some of this to work its magic whilst I'm applying the rest of my make up and by the time I get to my lips they are lovely and soft for me to apply one of my aforementioned longer lasting glosses on.

If I had paid the full price for this, which even as a discontinued product is being sold at $15 so around £8 by Urban Decay then I would have been disappointed. Before it was discontinued it will have retailed even higher and it definitely isn't worth the price tag - hence why it was probably discontinued. However, for the £2-£3 you can now pick it up for from discount cosmetic stores (both online and offline) it's a lovely little item!
