Advantages: Worth well, quite cheap and convenient

Disadvantages: Greasy feeling!

When ~I have sore lips the first lip balm I think of is Vaseline. It's a cult classic used to soothe or protect sore lips, tame unruley eyebrows and even make your power eye shadow into a gloss!

Costing around 99p to £1.20 it can be bought from most places, from chemists to petrol stations. It's also quite a unisex item. (I'm told boys get sore lips too!)

My favourite type is the aloe vera as I find it conditions even better than the orginal one. It also has a lovely, fresh smell making it more appealing.

So everyone knows Vaseline comes in their dinkly little tins. This one is green (relating to the aloe vera obviously). I would estimate they are around 2 and half inches long or 6 or 7 cm. Great size for popping in your pocket or your bag as I do.

The lid comes off with a quick twist and inside you see the hard(ish) jelly. Simply swirl your finger round the pot and rub on your lips. So there's the first negative. What to do with balm left on your finger. Hmmm not nice and not too convenient for busy people such as myself. The best tip is rub it into your arm or other area of skin. It is only a jelly moisturiser after all.

The standard pot is 20g. A good weight and it does last ages. However by the time you get down to near the bottom it's generally not to nice to use. Sticking your finger in is not too hygienic. I've yet to have a pot that hasn't looked manky in the last stage of using it. That's just the inside... the branding and colour on the tin wears away quite quickly making it look quite srcuffy and not that attractive.

However when you first use the actual barm if does feel like it's doing your lips some good. However it does feel greasy which I'm not a fan off. Best tip is if you have really sore lips slap it on on a night then I absolutely guarantee when you wake up your lips with soft again. Your skin around your lips however will feel disgusting and greasy.

All in all I'd definitely recommend it but you do need to make sure you look after them or they don't last very long.

Summary: Every girl should own a tin of this

I only ever use this at night, it's too greasy to use during the day, Susan
