Vaseline
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vaseline is a tried and tested brand. When I was a nipper in the fifties I had an old maiden great aunt who thought that Vaseline and Beecham pills would cure anything. Oh alongside of a drop of brandy in your morning tea and Epsom salts. Bonkers maybe but she lived to the ripe old age of 88 having survived two serious motor accidents whilst in her sixties and seventies.
Now as usual I am rambling a little but I just wanted to point how many people felt about Vaseline as a brand. A few years ago, as most established brands do from time to time, they widened their range of products. Amongst all the variation of Vaseline that were now on offer there was also a range of lip creams.
The first tin of Vaseline Lip Therapy I had was purchased buy Hubby for me. I had a particularly bad cold and chapped lips. I asked if he would bring some lip balm in with the shopping and this is what he purchased.
Vaseline Lip Therapy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vaseline lip therapy is sold in small round tins. They are perfect for keeping in your handbag or pocket for quick application. The lip therapy is made from the traditional petroleum jelly but comes in a few different varieties.
Aloe Vera-yellow product in a green tin
Plain-Clear product in a blue tin
Yellow tin-Bright yellow product with a SPF15 for added sun protection.
I have tried them all now but prefer the Aloe Vera which is what hubby first bought me.
The advantages of Vaseline Lip Therapy are:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lasts ages and so works out a really good product at around 99p a tin.
Good brand name.
Easy to use.
Convenient.
Compact tin.
The disadvantages are:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The contents of the tin can become infected. If you have cold sores for example you will need to be very careful about your hygiene. If you touch your lips where there is a cold sore, and put your finger back in the tin to reapply, you will spread the infection along your lips.
How to use:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Simply remove the screw top lid and apply a little of the lip therapy along your lips. It can be used on a small dry patch of skin such as your face or elbow also. This is handy in an emergency at work. A little on unruly eyebrows can tame tem pretty quick.
Smell:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~
For me only the Aloe Vera one has any smell and I do like it. It is a slightly fragrant smell.
Taste:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is no discernible taste except again for the Aloe Vera and that is not unpleasant.
Recommended:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These small tins of Lip Therapy can be so handy. As it says on the tin it 'Soothes dry skin and lips' and it does. If you want to add sun protection to its uses you need to make sure that you buy the lip therapy in the yellow tin. Just be careful, which ever one you buy, if you are prone to cold sores and obviously do not share your tin with anyone else.
