A pot of Vaseline Lip Therapy is something I really think every girl should keep in their bag. It's small, and the tin means it won't leak all over your bag, and it really does the trick. Sometimes takes a while to soothe really dry lips, but it will do the trick eventually. Great for everyday makeup too, when a heavy, dark lipstick would look over the top - Vaseline just adds a lovely shine to your lips, and leaves them feeling really smooth and conditioned too.

The main added extra is the price - very rarely more than £1 and usually around the 70-80p mark, and it lasts for absolutely ages. It's stocked in all major chemists and supermarkets too, so easy to get hold off. The one downside that I've noticed (although this is arguably a disadvantage of all lip balms) is that in particularly hot weather, the vaseline does tend to melt, rendering it almost useless. This does tend to happen only when abroad, in my experience.

Summary: Definitely a handbag essential.
