Advantages: looks glossy

Disadvantages: sticky, greasy, messy

Well, almost ever since I've know Vaseline has been around and my Mum always tended to buy it in one of those HUUUUGE tubs and she just used to plaster it on anything! Dry lips, grazes, cute, etc! Anyway so it seems to be one of those things that has just been around for ages, but I haven't used it for years and it was only a year or so ago when I saw these little round metal pots, with the famous 'Vaseline' written across it! As I had dry chapped lips I picked myself up a pot as it was at such a cheap price and in it went to my basket!

The product:
The product is Vaseline, this is the LIP THERAPY pot, which is also known as the pocket size pot. It is like a lip balm which is made with petroleum jelly. It claims to soothe dry skin and lips.

The price:
I was in Superdrug when I purchased mine and managed to pick it up for just £1.03, which I thought was a bargain as it is a VERY well known name and most other leading name lip balms charge anything from £2 upwards.

Avaliability:
These are purchasable from almost anywhere. As I said I managed to pick mine up from, Superdrug, but you can also purchase from Boots (where you can collect Boots Advantage Card Points). You can also pick it up in almost all supermarkets, including big names ones like Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, etc. You can even buy it from local chemists or pharmicists or Ebay and Amazon, I would reccomend not buying it off Ebay or Amazon as it is not worth it if you have to pay postage which just adds to the final price!

Range:
Vaseline has a large range, from the familiar yellowy tub, to these little pots. In these pot range there is the blue tub which is the original , SPF 15 one which is in the yellow tub, the green one which is an aloe vera one and the pink one, which is a tinting one!

My view:
I am not sure on this product, it isn't as good as what I have remembered and doesn't really soothe my lips as the lip balm gets soaked up ever so quickly which then leaves me licking my lips to try and give them a bit of 'moisture' but as I am sure everyone knows this just leavse them ever dryer.
I don't really like the fact that you have to apply it with your finger either as it leaves your finger greasy which makes me wipe it down my clothing which I REALLY shouldn't do! I know that I colud apply with a lip gloss brush but that is kind of hard if you are walking along in the middle of town!
I also don't like the fact that is you accidently put your bag on the radiator with the vaseline in it then it melts into a horrible sticky mess and the pot is sometimes a little stiff to open which is an absoloute pain if you are in a hurry!
Anyway enough of the negatives, here are some positives!
I like the fact that once it has been applied it sort of has a 'gloss' effect to it which makes it seem a bit more glam then just a lip balm!
Also it does feel lik it is softening your lips, but only for a little while as it soon sort of 'drys ups' or 'soaks in'!

Overall I don't think I will pick up another pot of this, especially since I love my carmex so much, which is brilliant!

I felt that it was a bit of a let down and just not as good as what I had remebered, but for that price if you are looking for a cheaper alternative then I suppose you cannot put it down on price.... as long as you don't mind reapplying every 5 minutes!!

In conclusion this was not the best purchase of my life!

Summary: Not as good as I remembered!
