Feeling tired? Been burning the candle at both ends? Want to look as if you've been looking after yourself when you haven't? Got those tell-tale dark circles? This may well be the product you've been looking for!

Virgin Vie's "Out of Shadows" has been rated so highly by the beauty press that it's one of those products you *want* to find out about. Women's magazines as varied as Marie Claire and Woman have recommended this as a must-have product. It was apparently one of the beauty necessities of the year, so when this all became a bit more personal and a friend who had used it for some time finally raved about it to me herself, curiosity got the better of me and made me decide to part with the cash and give it a go.

I was not disappointed. It's marketed as " a good night's sleep in a bottle" and although it might not make you *feel* like you hit the hay at the right time last night, (I wish!) it will definitely make you *look* like you did. Those dark circles simply disappear as if by magic!

It's a concealer which apparently is "bursting with light diffusers." Sound good? Well it is. Simply apply this pinkish liquid to those black rings with the little sponge-tipped applicator and it will be as if they never existed. I know it sounds unlikely - like an advertising spiel even - but it really does do what it's supposed to do. It's a doddle to apply for even the most cack-handed of us, and amazingly for me with my sensitive skin, it causes no allergic or other reaction.

This stuff doesn't stand out as being a concealer ( believe me, some do!) but rather blends convincingly into your natural skin tones to give a healthy I've-had-the-best-night's-sleep-ever look. I have quite olive, dark skin, but find that it works just as well for me as it does for my very pale blonde friend who recommended it.

You can use it with or without foundation,
it works equally well. As I don't usually wear much make-up other than eyeliner and a quick lick of lipstick, it's nice to be able to use this on its own. I'ver never noticed it wearing off either, it seems to last well all day.

In the work I do, looking well-rested is not as enormous an advantage as it is in some professions. I imagine that air hostesses have it made with this stuff. come to think of it, maybe that's why Virgin invented it?! The kind of lives those Virgin hostesses lead, they probably need it...

My usage on the other hand, is sporadic as the kids at the Family Centre are pretty much used to me just the way I am and my own kids worry if I look anything different to normal, dark circles and all..

I'd definitely recommend trying this if dark circles are a problem to you rather than an acceptable fact of life. If you need to look good for a job interview or good on the job (!) then this is in all probability a must.

If I'm tired before a singing performance I would always reach for the "Out of the Shadows" bottle because as a performer appearance is almost as important as how you sound, but mostly I just don't bother as appearance is not a high-priority factor in my day-to-day work. I guess I'm lucky, but I can think of many jobs where appearance is paramount and where this product would be a life-saver.

Try it if dark circles really bother you or you want to look your best for a special occasion, maybe a wedding! On the other hand, if you want to convince someone that you were up all last night working on that project, forget it make those dark circles work for you!
