Advantages: Silky, soft texture means that it's easy to apply., Intense pigment means that you don't need much on your brush, and gives it an increased staying power., It's of a much better quality than other, more expensive, brands that I've used.

Disadvantages: None!

I recently attended a Virgin Vie make-up party without any prior knowledge of the range or quality of the products on sale. The consultant was very friendly and professional. She gave us the obligatory sales spiel, and then let us loose on a table laden with bottles and tubes of various shapes and sizes. After testing all of the lotions, potions and deliciously scented balms on offer, out came the order forms and we proceeded to pick and choose the things that we wanted to buy.

Amongst other things, I ordered the Rosy Glow Powder Blush (£9.00), and beguiled by the Virgin Vie consultant?s authoritative patter, I also invested in a heavy-duty blusher brush.

Straight to the point: I was bowled over by my first application, mostly because I was stunned at the quality offered by such a low-key brand. What a well kept secret! It certainly wipes the floor with other, more expensive, blushers that I?ve bought.

Virgin Vie?s Rosy Glow Powder Blush is not the kind of product that requires six or seven heavy-handed strokes of the brush before it picks up any colour. Prior to using this product, I had used Clinique?s Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher in Mocha Pink. Applying this blusher took some doing: I had to swipe the brush with some force over the face of the blusher about ten times before I had enough on the brush to colour my cheeks.

Not so with Virgin Vie. This powder is so intense in pigment and silky in texture that the brush is able to pick up enough colour after a single, gentle stroke. I even have to give the brush a little flick before application so that the colour isn?t too deep. Because of its softness and fineness, the blusher spreads easily and evenly over the apples of your cheeks to give a gentle, natural looking blush ? like pinched cheeks.

Beauty products and their claims to perfection rarely impress me, and so the fact that I?m singing the praises of this blusher is a true testimony of its worth.
