One of my staple make up bag items is black mascara as unfortunately I wasn't blessed with long eye lashes. I favour my mascaras to offer my lashes a sexy, dramatic appearance in addition to lengthening and volumising. I'm extremely lucky with my mascaras, as I am generally able to obtain them for free where I have won a few in competitions and freebie websites.
One of the products I obtained a couple of months ago, which I believe was contained inside my monthly Glossy Box, was a 15 ml tube of W7 Lashtastic False Liquid Lashes, which belongs to Warpaint Cosmetics; a brand that was totally unfamiliar to me. I cannot describe the packaging as being appealing to the eye due to its vivid yellow colour and chunky tube. However, the claim of an ultimate effect together with the lashes you've ever dreamed of was extremely promising.
The tube easily unscrews from the wand to reveal a rather large brush, which has been created from tiny spikes of plastic as opposed to bristles. I am always a little apprehensive with this style of applicator due to the fact that the small pieces of plastic often catch on the delicate skin surrounding my eyes. The second issue I noticed when removing the wand section from the tube is that the tip contained an excessive amount of black mascara, so it was a case of wiping it away using the upper section of the tube.
Despite the chunky wand I was able to obtain a comfortable grasp as I applied the mascara to my lashes. The black liquid offered a good consistency and evenly coated my lashes with no clumping and whilst the brush section is on the large side the plastic spikes enabled me to access of all my lashes, even those located at the inner area of my eyes. I was able to apply a good coverage without blobbing or poking against my skin. The mascara offered a high level of pigmentation with one coat being sufficient for some people although I favour a heavier application to create a dramatic and striking effect. Whilst the mascara didn't quite deliver the level of volume that I adore, I was more than impressed with its ability to lengthen my lashes without making my eyes resemble a spider's legs!
I'm quite fortunate that my lashes, particularly the outer ones, are fairly easy to curl with the aid of a mascara brush and a small amount of pressure as I apply, enabling them to form a sexy flick. The mascara is fairly quick to dry, so I didn't have much waiting around in between coats. My biggest worry when trying out a new brand is flaking, particularly as I suffer with dry and sore eyes and as a result, am prescribed an ointment to assist with my problem. Consequently, I was a little concerned that tiny particles would fall into my eyes and cause irritation. However, I cannot speak of any such issues, as the mascara remained in place all day with no need for a touch up.
Removal of the mascara was easy enough and I must admit that whilst I have a passion for beauty products and spend far too much money, I find that a blob of baby lotion on a piece of cotton wool to be sufficient. Whilst some brands require a little rubbing across the lashes to remove every last trace, the mascara lifted away with minimal effort. An important point that I would mention here is that none of my eye lashes were removed in the process, which has previously been the case with one or two brands that I have tried.
If the mascara was able to provide additional volume and length it would have received five stars from me, so I feel four to be appropriate. I was amazed at the price of W7 Lashtastic False Liquid Lashes, as I had anticipated that I was using an expensive brand, particularly as I believe it was contained within one of my Glossy Boxes. However, a quick search on line informs me that it can be purchased from Amazon for just £2.49 inclusive of postage and packing. I probably will not repurchase due to the couple of issues that I have mentioned, but for those consumers on a budget I can highly recommend.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
