Advantages: Looks good, cheap

Disadvantages: not widely available, settles in any fine lines

I asked everyone to get me beauty products and toiletries for Christmas and one of my sisters got me some make-up including a pot of W7 Glamour dust.

W7 are a budget brand, that can normally be found in discount stores and aren't widely available from places like Boots and Superdrug. I've used a couple of things from that range before and found some to be OK, and some to be pretty poor if I'm honest.

Glamour dust is a loose powder eyeshadow which comes with a small applicator, and is pretty similar to an Avon product I used a while ago called Precision Glimmer shadow.

The product comes in a small round clear plastic pot through which you can see the powder. The applicator is like the tip of a felt-tip pen, and is slightly rounded. The handle of the applicator is fairly long for easy application too, although I'm sure you can see all that from the picture.

The product is available in six different colours, all of which are shimmery, and the one I have is (unusually) called Chinchilla, which is a pale gold colour. The other colours are Mink (shimmery brown), Artic fox (silver white), Silver fox (silvery blue), baby bronze (bronze) and marshmallow (pink).

Applying the shadow is quite easy, although because the tip of the applicator is rounded, I found that getting a precise application was a little bit difficult, so ended up blending with a brush to get a better finish.

The shimmer in the powder is quite intense, and I certainly wouldn't wear this during the day time as I think it would look a bit OTT, but for evening it looks really good. The shimmer is very intense, although the colour itself is quite subtle, meaning you just get that flash of sparkle when your eyelids catch the light.

One slight criticism is that it seemed to settle into the lines on my eyelids. I'm only 24 and didn't even realise I had wrinkles on my eyelids until I used this, but it did seem to enhance every tiny line, so might not be great on older skin.

One thing I wasn't expecting was the staying power of this. I usually use Urban Decay's primer potion under my eyeshadow, but when I first tested this product out I didn't bother, and it lasted several hours, as I had actually forgot I was wearing it until I went to wash my make-up off before bed!

One pot of W7 Glamour Dust will cost you just £1.95 online from www.buycosmetics.com I'm not entirely sure where you can get this on the high street, but I know Boyes and sometimes TJ Hughes stock W7 products, so it might be worth trying either of those.

Overall I am quite impressed with this. The finish was really nice, it's very cheap and it lasts well. If I spot this in the shops I will definitely get myself a couple more colours.

I've used a few bits from the W7 range and you're right, some are fine and others are awful.
