I originally purchased one of these lipglosses from a store called The Factory Shop which is amazing for cosmetics, selling big brands at low prices. I often wear matte colour lipsticks which often look too dry and stick so I was looking for a nice, lightweight lipgloss to go on top. The main reason I went foe the W7 lipgloss is because it was really cheap - only £1.50! I thought that even if the lipgloss is awful quality then the price would make up for it.
On first glance the packaging looks nice enough. You can see the pink, glittery substance through the clear tube which is very pretty. The texture of the product itself is quite sticky. I've tried many other lipgloss products which are far less sticky and irritating than this one if I'm honest. The colour doesn't come through at all, it's virtually clear. In the bottle it looks so bright and lovely but he colour just doesn't transfer.
All in all I would recommend that anyone else should just invest in a mid-priced lipgloss which is much better. I'd use this lipgloss now and again if I was desperate for some glitter and shine but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hates sticky lipgloss. Although I'm not entirely happy with the liogloss I didn't expect anything more therefore it wasn't actually a bad buy.
The lipglosses come in a wide range of colours, from dark red to bright pink and can be purchased from a range of online stores such as Amazon and Ebay.
w7 was sold on the high street, exclusively at Superdrug. I know some of you may have the opinion that Superdrug is in no way 'exclusive' but there are lots of bargains to be had and are in my opinion good competitors for Boots.
However of late, I haven't seen w7 products in Superdrug so they may have stopped stocking the range.
There are a range of make-up bag essentials available from w7: eyeliners, mascara, shadows etc.
~ Price ~
When I bought this glosss it was quite reasonably priced at £2.99 but the RRP is now 5.95!
~ Where to buy it? ~
I got mine from Superdrug but there are some bargains to be had on the internet:
www.girlsbits.com - this site has a number of BOGOF offers on w7 products.
www.beautyspotcosmetics.co.uk - RRP 5.95, this site sells it for 1.95.
As with all online buying, check out the P&P charges.
~ Packaging ~
The gloss came in a little transparent, plastic box. No fancy packaging in sight!
The gloss itself is like most standard glosses on the market. The bottom section is transparent so that you can see the colour of the gloss that you are getting and the top has a 'matt' silver screw top lid.
~ My Experience ~
I'm unsure of the name of this particular gloss as it only has lipgloss written on it, no 'name' but there are other shades available from pale toffee, clear to different shades of pink.
In the holder, this gloss looks very, very pale pink.
The gloss is relatively easy to apply but due to the sticky nature of it, it doesn't glide over your lips.
Yes..... it's sticky which I'm not keen on, so sticky that some strands of my hair actually get stuck on to it if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. Obviously not like super glue but it's a bit irritating!
It has quite a strong smell. I'm not averse to sweets but this is quite a sickly, sweetie smell.
When applied, the gloss is clear, transluscent. It gives a very high sheen and a great glossy look and at the end of the day that is what we hope to get from a lipgloss.
Another plus is that it does stay on and remains glossy for quite some time, longer than other glosses that I have used.
So why then, have I igven it only 4 stars?
In short, this is due to the fact that it is just a tad too sticky. With the exception of this, this is an effective lip gloss, staying glossy and 'put' for quite a while and reasonably priced.
