“ Brand: Wet 'n Wild / Type: Lipgloss / Suitable for: Lip „
I saw this in my local chemist and thought id give it a try as the colours all looked so pretty and it was only £1. It comes in range of fruity shades such as fresh lemon, red raspberry, green apple and tropic glaze, i went for the fresh cherry shade.
The packaging is very plain, it comes in a see-through tube so you can see the glosses colour and when you look at it properly its very cheap and tacky looking but to be honest i don't what else you could expect from something that is only a pound.. I found it very easy to apply you literally just squeeze the tube lightly and the gloss comes out, it both feels and looks smooth on your lips and it gave them a subtle hint of colour. One thing i really need to mention as this will be a sell point for some but a break point for others is the glitter, it's extremely glittery more so than you would think just by looking at the tube and for me it's far to glittery for daytime use but it looks great for a night out, it's definately something to bear in mind! The only disapointment is that it does get very sticky after about half an hour and after a full hour it has usually disapeared leaving a faint glitter residue but no colour, for the price i'd say that was a given really. Finally i think the best thing about it is it both smells and tastes great! Literally sometimes I struggle not to lick it all off! And i think for a pound it's worth buying for that alone, i shall make my way through them one by one.
A cheapo bargain
I recently bought a few bits and pieces from an online cosmetics retailer that sells brand names at low prices, and as always I couldn't resist a few impulse buys. I love trying out new products, and this seemed a good way to try out a few new things for rock bottom prices. I think this cost me £1, but I have seen it online for 75p so it is not what you would call a high end lip gloss....
The gloss is available in a range of different shades including Fresh Cherry, Citrus and Tropic Glaze. I opted for Fresh Orange.
This lip gloss comes in a squeezy tube and is pretty cheap looking - which obviously you would expect. Looking at this through the clear plastic tube, I noticed two things - despite being called Fresh Orange, this gloss is anything but orange in colour. Instead it is a really bright, artificial shade of pink. And the second think I couldn't fail to notice is that the gloss is packed full of glitter! There are very small bits of glitter of every shade in here - silver, pink, yellow, purple... All in all it is a crazy looking lip gloss really - very girlie indeed - and it made me a bit nervous about applying this to my lips!
Unscrewing the lid, this has a round applicator with a hole in the top and you just give the tube a very gentle squeeze to dispense a tiny amount of gloss. It glides onto lips very easily, and it doesn't feel very thick or sticky. It has a very sweet taste, which is actually quite orangey, and I really like the flavour of this - I have used pricier fruit-flavoured lip glosses that don't have such a nice flavour!
Once on lips, if you rub them together you can actually feel the tiny bits of glitter on your lips. And this is actually this product's downfall - on the lips it is really glossy and has no colour to speak of but it actually looks and feels quite nice, and has that lovely orangey flavour.
But the bits of glitter ruin it for me. There is so much glitter in this that it just looks a bit ridiculous on the lips, and it makes it look really unnatural. I even think for a glitzy night out this would be too over-the-top as there is nothing subtle about it, and the fact the glitter is in every colour under the rainbow doesn't help either!
Also as the gloss comes off - it doesn't have great staying power - some of the glitter stays put - and glitter on unglossy lips looks even worse than glitter on glossy lips!
I'm actually throwing this one away which is something I hate doing, but to me it's just unusable! It's a real shame about the glitter in this because otherwise I would happily keep using it - even though it may not be one I'd buy again as it is obviosuly not great quality. But the high glitter content just makes it look awful on the lips - and I speak as someone who loves glitter and shimmer!
So even for a quid or less I can't recommend this one - I can't imagine anyone getting on with this one really.
