Review of Wet n Wild Long Lash Mascara
I first discovered Wet n Wild cosmetics a few years ago when a friend had a little business selling make-up on a stall at craft fairs. She occasionally gave me a few freebies and whilst I had never seen Wet n Wild in the shops, I was interested to try them.
I had been pleased with the makeup I had been given, so was interested recently to see that a local independent chemist shop in my hometown were now stocking the Wet N Wild range
I purchased several items, including this mascara. It cost me the princely sum of £1.50 and I spotted a few other items in the range at just 99p!
The mascara comes in a rather sweet silver coloured tube with two lines circling it. The cap is, as with most mascaras, both the closure and the handle part of the brush. The brush is nothing remarkable; it is a bog standard mascara brush, no fancy spiralled bristles here.
The tube contains 7g of mascara, so it is quite small mascara. Mine is black, I am not sure exactly how many shades this mascara comes in, although I did notice brown and brown/black on sale when I bought mine. I believe Wet n Wild cosmetics are produced by an American company.
The mascara goes on quite well, it coats the lashes reasonably well and does not leave too many clumps or produce the dreadful 'spider's legs' look! I do not really consider this to be a lash lengthening mascara, in spite of the product name 'Long Lash' it is a basic, everyday mascara in my opinion. I generally wear just two coats of mascara and find this is adequate for my needs. Anyone who is looking for a 'false lash' effect from their mascara would do well to buy a different product!
In its favour, this mascara does last very well; I have had no problem with flaking or smudging. I am not sure whether this is waterproof as I haven't really been in a situation where it has got wet!
I have never suffered from any irritation or adverse reaction from Wet n Wild cosmetics.
Removal is easy; the mascara comes off with a minimum of fuss and rubbing. I generally use a facial wipe designed for eye make-up removal and this removes the mascara effortlessly.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
This mascara cannot really be compared to one from a top end range; it is definitely a budget buy and as such is good value for money. I feel that at £1.50, this was well worth the money. It is lovely everyday mascara and one that I would happily buy again.
In my opinion, Wet n Wild has plugged a gap in the UK cosmetic market, the range has some great shades, the prices are reasonable and the cosmetics are of a good quality. I consider the range worth a second glance, especially for those like me who do not wear a great deal of make-up and just want a fairly basic cosmetic.
Wet n Wild products can be found both in High Street stores and from various other sources. I have noticed recently that there are several Ebay shops stocking the Wet n Wild range at very reasonable prices.

As an avid Moneysavingexpert.com user, I noticed a post about cosmetics reduced to just 99p! I was thrilled! Whilst I don't spend a lot on make up in general (just the basics- a good eyeliner and a powder foundation, as well as mascara but as these tend to last me ages I don't buy them regularly!) Despite my make up bag being fairly light, at 99p though I decided to stock up! The product range was an American one called wet n' wild cosmetics. At first I thought the name sounded really dodgy but after reading reviews from other MSE'ers and reviews online I decided to give it a go. The reviews were positive and people seemed happy with their purchases.
I bought this mascara and quite a few other things as the offer said if you spent £10 you would get free delivery. This was harder to do than you'd think as the total quickly came to £9 something (the 1p that was off every pound meant ordering 10 things didn't equate to £10! So I had to order 11 items, which I'll review in the appropriate categories).
The mascara was a small tube (ideal for small purses but then I thought the quantity was rather small (you get what you pay for...Small price, small bottle?). The actual product inside the bottle was very nice though, it went on smooth and with one layer of top and bottom on the upper lashes I had a nice curl and colour to my eyelashes. There was none of the dreaded clumping, which I hate, and each lash was actually defined and separate. The other thing I hate about some mascaras is the way I end up occasionally looking as if I have two spiders stuck to my face! There was none of that with this product- my eyelashes were coated but not too thickly so that they looked like false lashes. I thought this made the mascara ideal for daywear and I used mine before going to work. As it is such a small tube it will run out quickly but at 99p I thought it wasn't bad at all. Look for future sales!
As I wear contact lenses I have to be careful what make up I use near my eyes but this had no side effects, no itching, no runny eyes etc. I would recommend trying this out!
Having found myself in need of some new makeup recently, I ordered a load from the wet n' wild website. They had a special sale on where lots of products were only 99p. I wasn't expecting amazing quality but was pleasantly surprised! The mascara is very good. It seperates my lashes very well and doesn't clump. Its also lengthens my lashes, living up to what it claims to do (something that I find is generally quite rare for csometics). If I had to find a fault with it I suppose it would be that it could be a bit more dramatic but that is not really necessary for daytime makeup. Nonetheless, it looks really good and stays on all day without any smudging. The ultimate test came recently when I had to work a long shift waitressing, starting early in the morning. I even had a nap on the way to work and it didn't smudge! Even in the heat of the kitchen the mascara stayed firmly on my lashes. There were no nasty side effects such as itchy or sore eyes. It comes off easily with eye makeup remover as well. All in all, a pretty good product!
