“ Brand: Philips „
With no prior experience of electric massagers, we looked around online together at the various options on offer. Straight away, it seemed clear that Philips was the brand we were after as the styling & design was streets ahead of the alternatives.
The massager resembles a stone and is perfectly shaped to be held in the right hand, although can also be used with ease by the left. The settings on the massager are simple and consist of three buttons - the power button and two further controls for adjusting the vibration power up and down. The massager is deep blue in colour with a wave-like colour shift around its contour. All around the outside, there are ripples and indentations for a more sensual feel in contact with skin and to allow you to apply pressure where necessary.
Operationally, the massager failed to disappoint. The battery took considerably less than the prescribed 4 hours to charge and then lasted a surprisingly long time thereafter. The highest power setting makes the stone threaten to jump out of your hand whereas the weakest is a gentle calming rhythm. It is important to note that the power button is also used to set the type of vibration that you are after as well as turning the device on and off. The options range from a constant fixed resonation to a pulsing sensation. The only way to describe the rest is to try it out!
One thing that truly amazed us is the charging station. There is absolutely no connection between the massager and the base. There is a smooth indentation in the base where you are meant to place the massager and as soon as you do, a little light comes on and the charger begins charging wirelessly. This really amazed us by its sheer simplicity and visual impact. The future has arrived in style.
The only 'downside' of this product is its price as you will have to part with over £50 for the privilige. Being a luxury item that it is, that was always to be expected and we believe it to be definitely worth it!
Having previously enjoyed the Intimate Massagers Duo set from Philips, I was curious to see how well this single unit matched up, touted as an improved version of a single unit predecessor also by Philips. The last set took 24 hours to charge. The blurb tells you it takes 4 hours for this new model to charge, although I can tell you it took about 2 hours; there is a light which is on while it is charging, and this turns itself off once the massager is fully charged. I was also pleased that the adaptor plug was a UK standard one this time, so no need for any extra socket adaptors as was provided last time.
The noise emissions level is also a lot lower than before, so great news for those of us in shared accommodation or with nosey children/in-laws in the same house. It's very quiet although provides very powerful vibrations.
There are two buttons, one with a plus and one with a negative to increase or decrease the intensity of the vibrations, and also a button to change the type of vibration; eg the pattern. There is something to suit everyone, from a gentle soothing massage which could be used as relief for aches and pains, to full throttle turbo vibrations which brings a whole other form of relief.
Also worth noting is that these can be used with oils and lubricants although we found them to be smooth enough to glide over the skin without the need for any help.
