An extremely nourishing body oil for people suffering from dry skin problem

I suffer from psoriasis and always have extremely dry and chapped skin patches all over the body. I have always been on a constant hunt of a good body moisturiser which can help to improve the situation and am very happy to have found this wonderful nourishing body oil from Burt's Bees.

      - The package-
This nourishing oil comes in a plastic bottle with a white lid (the package has changed from the one shown in the photo above). The bottle contains 115ml oil. The lid is a press-open type so it's easy to use especially after shower.

      - The product-
This product claims to keep the skin well hydrated. The main ingredients are: almond and lemon oils together with Vitamin E. The sweet almond and lemon oils hydrate dry skin while Vitamin E keeps skin supple and moist.

The lemon oil gives this nourishing a wonderful refreshing lemon smell. It smells great and lasts on the skin for an hour or so after shower.

      - Applying the product-
I was recommended to apply the oil immediately after shower to lock in the moisture. I apply the oil all over the body and apply an extra layer on the extra dry parts. Apart applying the oil after shower, I also apply the product on my skin whenever I find them dry.

      - The result-
As I said above, I suffer from extremely dry skin problem due to psoriasis. This nourishing oil from Burt's Bees really does a wonder on my skin. It does not cause any irritation problem (it's made of all natural ingredients) and is extremely useful in locking the moisture of my skin. My skin feels less itchy after the applying the product.

I find that this nourishing oil a bit greasy especially for summer time. Therefore, I would only recommend you to try out this product in summer time if you have extremely dry skin (like I do) or you may wish to wait until winter time. While it does feel a bit greasy, the refreshing lemon smell is a plus to use this oil in the summer time!

      - Other uses-
Besides acting as a nourishing body oil, it is said that it can also act as a comforting massage oil as well. I haven't tried on this use so can't really comment on this.

      A yummy massage oil

Having been given a tub of the luscious Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter and then later bought another myself, I came across the Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil on the shelves at the same time. It couldn't be helped, as the products always look so cute, I had to check it out.

I know you shouldn't, but I immediately felt drawn towards it and found myself having a quick sniff of the contents of the bottle. It had a lovely light aroma of lemon which I really liked, plus I had been naughty and opened it. I decided to stump up the £10.99 to buy it, which I know isn't cheap for a small bottle like this, but sometimes a little bit of what you fancy does you good, well thats the excuse I used at the time.

      **********************************************************
Thinking about how best to describe the contents of the bottle, I think its best to say that although its an oil based product, its not an overly heavy oil. It leaves a lovely light feeling when you have applied it to your baby bump and can also be used on the rest of your body too (if you can still reach it, lol!).

The Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil I had, came as 115mls of product. Although that sounds very little, you have have to think that as a body oil it will be used more sparingly than a body cream or even more sparingly than the Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter. This is due to the lightness of the oil as a little goes a long way.

      **********************************************************
I found the best results with the Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil was during the evening, after a bath. It was often rather hard to get settled with an ever growing belly and so the routine of a bath followed by a light massage with the Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil seemed to work a treat.

The aroma of the oil is yummy. Its light and citrusy with distinct wafts of delicious lemon that enhances the over all effect. The mix of ingredients within the oil include almond oil, lemon, wheat germ oil, rosemary extract and also citronella. Th light golden colour of the oil is very attractive when in the bottle, but it doesn't leave any trace of colour when on your skin.

      **********************************************************
This combo of ingredients make the oil a super thing to massage on, especially in summer as not only does it leave you all soft, smelling fresh and feeling relaxed, but if you are out and about on a warm summers night, the added citronella can also help to ward off the unwanted advances of biting insects.

I found that the oil when applied lightly was lovely to use on legs and arms as well as the bump. It lasted for a long time considering it was used at least 2 to 3 times a week, although I was careful to use just a little of the oil each time. If you are too heavy handed with the oil, not only will you waste it, but you will end up with a strong chance of it marking your clothes.

      **********************************************************
In summary I feel that Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil is lovely as an occasional massage oil for mums to be. Its softness comes through when on the skin and it leaves a nice relaxed feel if used during the early evening after a bath.

Although its not cheap to buy, it does last well if you use it sparingly and if you also have the Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter you can alternate the two products to use on different days, which makes you feel very pampered indeed. I really liked the product, so it gets a yummy 5 star rating.

        -

Late into my pregnancy I suffered from very itchy skin especially on my belly, hands and legs. I found out I was suffering from PUP which only lasts 1-2 weeks but it was irritating as well to the point where I was itching so much I was making my skin bleed and I couldn't sleep properly where the itching was so extreme.

My mother-in-law, a Burt's Bees fiend, brought a bottole of Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil round for me one day and suggested I try it to relieve the itching as it was mainly for itchy skin. The itching was so bad that I was willing to try anything.

The body oil came in a retro looking bottle that reminded me of an old fashioned type of medicine bottle. The bottle she brought round for me was 115ml and actually cost £10.95! The oil was a yellow looking colour much similar to honey and on the front of the bottle was the Burt's Bees logo and honeycomb design label.

The oil contains vitamin E, almond and lemon oils. The vitamin E is to keep the skin supple and moist as well as trying to help retain some elasticity to combat stretchmarks whilst the almond and lemon oils are thrown in there to sooth and hydrate the skin if dry and itchy. It was the itchy part I was looking for!

To use it is just a case of applying a generous amount all over your body. The bottle says that it is best applied straight after a bath or you can add some to bathwater. I done all of the above and was applying it when not anywhere near the bath or water! It was a slippery product and very greasy which I hate and it didn't really absorb into the skin either but it relieved my itching for a good half an hour to an hour at a time which was the best result I could hope for. It was a lovely feeling to be released for the clutches of itching hell. And it had a nice almond and lemon scent to it too which was nice on my skin.

The oil seemed to cool my skin and it just stopped the itching like magic. The itching actually stopped completely about 3 days after I started using this. I don't know if it was because of it or just sheer coincidence but either way if you're itchy during pregnancy, I recommend this more than anything! It also left my skin feeling nice and soft too. It honestly became my best friend!

Highly recommended and it can be purchased from Boots, Amazon and John Lewis or any Burt's Bees stockists.

Vitamin E keeps skin supple, moist, and elastic. Sweet almond and lemon oils soothe and hydrate dry, itchy skin. Apply generously all over the body for smooth, naturally nourished skin. Best applied immediately after shower or bath to lock moisture in.
