Hi Bebe BT200 Fetal Doppler
Advantages: Good sound handy case
Disadvantages: worrying if the heart beat is not clear
When i look at all the lovely helpful products on the shelf now for pregnant ladies and bumps i feel hard done by there is so much stuff available.
As i had only just turned 17 when i was pregnant with my girls i had mum helping me during my pregnancy.
One of the amazing things she had for me was the hi baby doppler.
She was educating me on how important it was to bond with my twins before they were born and this doppler was just the thing to do the job.
The hi baby fetal doppler cost around £60 from ebay it was used and even now you can buy them for this price all over the internet.
I stared using the doppler when i was 4 months pregnant.
The doppler is a hand held machine and takes 2 AA batteries.
It comes in a hard grey carry case with a bottle of clear gel stuff that is freezing cold should you put it straight on your skin.
Basically you gel your tummy with the ultrasound gel and zoom about with the stick and when you find a thudding sound the meter on the screen reacts with zig zag lines that the heart beat.
The heart beats sound like fast trains zooming around.
The machine gives a good clear reading and the sound is amazing from the machine but only when the heart beat is clear some times its faint if babies are wrong way around or just moving around.
It is very simple to use.
However some days i could not hear the heart beat strong or loud enough witch made me panic and anxious.
Mum had run to my room on loads of occasions when i shouted thinking there was some thing wrong, i cant help but think as nice as it was to hear the twins heart beats that it did cause way to many paranoid stressful moments too and as it was my pregnancy i had no real clue on what i was doing, if there was anything wrong etc. I was told the babies backs could be facing my tummy and it will not pick up a strong beat etc very scary indeed.
I think i would have been better off with out the machine at times.
Right at the end of the pregnancy i enjoyed listing to the heart beats and did make me bond with the twins and get super excited about there looming arrival however this was short lived as soon as they arrived only joking.
I recommend the machine but i will also say don't take it to serious like i did you will become a paranoid wreck, relax and use it very nice and calming.
4 stars for good sound, handy case, light to hold.
