I would buy this product again and recommend to anyone as it really worked for me

Just to note the Mama Mio Stretch Mark Cream and Butter is the same but in different forms. I do not think they do the cream any longer but I have used both.

      Information from Mama Mio Website:

Tummy Rub is not just about the growing, it is also about the shrinking back down to your normal size and maintaining your skin tone.

Tummy Rub is available as an oil or butter because some mamas like an oil and some like a cream. They are both equally amazing. It is your choice. We have lots of mamas who use the butter in the morning and the oil in the evening, which works really well if you just can't decide!

Tummy Rub Butter is packed with very high levels of these amazing ingredients giving you the very best bump care.

Shea Butter is the most potent healing butter. It helps restore skin tone and provides a protective barrier to lock in moisture. Interestingly, it contains a form of natural latex that helps build elasticity within skin to stave off stretch marks.

Borage Oil is an ancient oil used in the Far East for thousands of years, it's one of the richest sources of Essential Fatty Acids omegas, specifically gamma-linolenic acid (rich in Omega 6) is very effective in healing damaged skin.

Borage Oil is wonderfully moisturising and very active as it is quickly recognised and utilised by the skin.

Wheatgerm Oil is rich in Vitamin E and is amazingly healing and nourishing to the skin. In addition Vitamin E is useful for its role as a powerful anti-oxidant, soaking up free radicals (so that's anti-aging) and helping those Omega-rich superfoods get on with their vital work.

Rosehip Seed Oil is very rich in Omega 3 and 6, which are beneficial for the treatment of damaged and distressed skin by providing intense moisturisation. This oil has the added benefit of naturally occurring trans-retinoic acid (think benefits of retin-A but without side effects) which is very helpful in preventing stretch marks.

Sweet Almond Oil (cold-pressed to get the very best quality) is rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9, and very nourishing. It is highly moisturising and quickly absorbed, leaving a soft sheen on the skin with no residue.

Gravida is our amazing essential oil fragrance; a blend of 10 pregnancy-safe, pregnancy-specific natural oils - smells gorgeous to even the most sensitive of noses.

Rub on twice daily, from above your boobs to below your butt - front, back and sides. Keep rubbing for at least four months after baby has arrived on the scene.

Enough of the information about the product - DOES IT WORK???
For me - yes it did work, I did not get a single stretch mark. I used the Mama Mio Cream or Butter after applying the Mama Mio Stretch Mark Oil twice a day - in the morning after a shower/bath and just before going to bed in the evening.

I can honestly say that it really made a difference to my skin, it was never dry and I only had a couple of occasions where it felt itchy during the day but had a small tub with me to rub on and ease the itching.

The condition of my skin improved and was really glowing. I used it from neck to thighs (including my arms) as you never know where the stretch marks will come from. I am not sure about anyone else, but the weight was evenly distributed across my body - except for the baby bump of course.

A friend of mine at work has very sensitive skin - even worse than me and she had reacted to another famous brand. I lent her my products for one week and she loved them so much that she ordered some for herself. She was very surprised that her skin did not react to the products and said it helped relieve her itching. Now I know that she did not get stretch marks throughout the initial 8 months of her pregnancy but she did not use this product towards the end - using Bio Oil as it was cheaper and she ended up with a few stretch marks.

I am an avid believer that there are many variables that decide whether you get stretch marks or not - genetics, diet, exercise, lifestyle, products used, weight gain and general luck! However, I also believe in trying your best to prevent stretch marks by using a moisturising cream specially made to prevent these.

If nothing else, the Mama Mio range really smells lovely and makes you feel very special as a Mum to be or a new Mother!

Beautifully scented and moisturising but don't expect miracles...

        THE BASICS:

£22.50 for a 125g tub of this thick cream - an expensive habit but one that's claimed to last for six months, nourishing the skin and preventing stretch marks. Pleasant smelling and unlikely to cause the aversions that market alternatives do (e.g. Bio Oil).

        THE LOOK:

Rather new-agey green packaging (not the pink shown in the photo). White plastic tub is rather unattractive sitting on my dressing table (quite medicinal looking) which is a bit disappointing given the cost.

        HOW TO USE IT:

Slather yourself in it once or twice a day during pregnancy and for four months afterwards to enhance skin tone as you lose weight.

        THE CLAIMS:

        (Mama Mio)

        - prevents stretch marks by enhancing skin elasticity
        - layer with stretch mark oil for enhanced effects
        - moisturises to prevent itchiness

        Active ingredients:

        - Shea butter: restores skin tone and acts as a protective barrier to lock in moisture.
        - Natural latex: builds skin elasticity and staves off stretch marks.
        - Borage oil: source of Omega 6 for its healing powers.
        - Wheatgerm oil: for vitamin E and its antioxidant properties.
        - Rosehip seed oil: source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 for healing and moisturisation.
        - Sweet Almond Oil: rich in Omega oils, again nourishing and moisturising.

Not tested on animals, but clinically pregnant volunteers - unlike most other products aimed at this market (for ethical reasons)

        DOES IT WORK:

For me: no. I'm rather inclined to think that if you're going to get stretch marks then you will. It's also impossible to tell how bad they would have been without it, making it very difficult to make an assessment (I'll just have to take the word of their clinical trials for it). Unfortunately I put a lot of weight on my stomach as a result of polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid - probably 2 litres too much!) and a very big baby (10lb for a first child). Oh well.

On the plus side it did feel lovely and I didn't experience any of the itching that many of my friends have described with stretch marks. I'm not really far enough into the postnatal period to assess how helpful this cream is at that stage....

However, a major negative is how long a tub lasts. Maybe it's just my huge belly, but a tub lasted 2 months rather than the promised six, making it rather an expensive habit for something that didn't prevent stretch marks!
