After the birth of my baby these were an essential, your loss after a baby is not anything like a period and these pads will be needed for at least the first week if not longer. Most people will bleed for anything between 1-4 weeks and everyone is different but heavy loss is very common for the first few days. I was using these pads and changing them every hour for the first day or two then gradually used them for longer until i changed to normal sanitary pads. Make sure you have loads though as you will use a lot in those first few days. They are uncomfortable but that really will be the last thing on your mind when you have just had your baby! They are very absorbent and i didnt have any problems with them at all. They have a sticky strip on the back to attach to your knickers which i found stuck very well and they were easy to use. I disposed of mine in nappy sacks as they are quite large and dont fold up easily.
