New Look Maternity Black Underbump Stretch Trousers
by msannabella
I purchased these under the bump trousers when I was around six months pregnant and growing out of my pre pregnancy trousers. I was looking for something that looked smart but was also comfortable. My plan was to be able to get as many uses as possible out of these and wear them for work and for nights out.
The ... product
The trousers are sold exclusively at New Look and when I purchased them (about six months ago) they were around £10 or £11. The trousers are made of polyester and look like a typical pair of black smart trousers. They have a ribbed cotton like waist that is designed to fit snugly under the bump. They have button details where the front pockets of the trousers would be and are of a pull on type. They have a small flare on the bottom (I would say they were boot cut but a bit more flared)
The review
I was really looking forward to wearing these trousers to work as my uniform trousers had became way too snug and were starting to hurt. These looked like they would provide the comfort my waist was crying out for! I was very wrong.
I was expecting these would be like most maternity wear and if I bought my normal size, would fit. I purchased the size 12 I usually was. Some places fit perfectly but the waist was way too tight and uncomfortable and wouldn't sit right under my bump. It kept digging in in all the wrong places making wearing them for any length of time uncomfortable and sometimes downright painful! I did not have a bigger then usual bump, it was quite petite, so would assume this would be the case for most people.
The length is also an issue. I am slightly taller than average but usually the regular trousers are fine and look smart, however these were way too short for me. Not just in a slightly short, can get away with it way, they looked almost like capri pants and this is not a good look when wearing work boots as well!
On the plus side, they washed really well and were cheap. That is the best thing I could say about them. I didn't get to wear them enough to know if they wore well but judging from other New Look items I have purchased in the past, they would probably last well for the price.
I definitely wouldn't recommend these for someone looking for comfortable work trousers. I would suggest paying the extra as I did and getting another brand. Read the complete review |

Maternity Navy Blue Love Joggers
by katyj10
This is a review of the Maternity Navy Blue Love Joggers I recently bought from New Look. I have ten weeks to go before the baby arrives and my clothes are limited (the ones that fit) and starting to wear out after two pregnancies. After scouring ebay I decided to buy a couple of new items from New Look, having had their maternity ... clothes before and finding them a good price, quality and fit.
Why these?
I bought these joggers as they will be good for before and after the pregnancy, providing comfort too. It was a bit of a gamble as I usually need a long leg in trousers but knew I could wear these low with a bump band if necessary so could make them fit. Luckily they were fine as a regular leg at New Look is 32 inches so this was good for me as I didn't want them long to go with a heel or anything. I went for blue although they come in black and pale grey too but blue suits me fine and I find it washes a bit better than black generally.
Description
The joggers are described as off duty comfort clothes with a waistband that sits under your bump but doesn't dig in. The hip sports a printed logo that says Love 1964 (random date I think!) and they are made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The joggers are available in sizes 8 - 18 and in theory, you just buy the size that you were pre pregnancy.
My thoughts
These are really comfy trousers which I can see will get a lot of wear over the next ten weeks and then you'll find me wearing them afterwards too when the new baby is here! Whilst they are not smart, they look OK with trainers and a tshirt and will do especially round the house or if nipping to the shops. I have black trousers and smarter jeans for when the occasion requires but for me right now the biggest priority is for comfort.
Price
I thought these were well priced at £12.99. I still have a NUS card from when I did my Masters degree so can also get 10% off which can be done online or in store. I found the items I wanted online and went in store to buy them as I prefer to check the quality this way.
Final word
I am pleased with the joggers and will find a new home for them when I am finished with them as I have several friends currently trying for a baby. Whilst I do make an effort when required it is nice to be comfy and waistbands can be the worst thing about clothing when pregnant! Read the complete review |

New Look Maternity Purple Butterfly Top
by katyj10
This is a review of the Maternity Purple Butterfly Print Ruched Sleeve Top I bought from New Look recently. I was fed up of my limited wardrobe and had a couple of meals out and a potential day at the races beckoning so I thought I'd better buy myself something new!
The decision
I had a look online (the easiest way to ... shop for maternity clothes I find!) and immediately liked the butterfly top from New Look. I already had some leggings and black trousers and jeans for that matter that would all go with the top. I am not a fan of clingy clothing at the best of times so went in store to try on the butterfly top before making my mind up.
Description
The top is made of 98% cotton and 2% elastane. It has a round neck and is nice and long in the body. I liked the ruched sleeves as I find long sleeves generally make me feel too hot but these were designed to be pushed up a bit on the arms which I prefer. The stretch in the material enables plenty of give and allows for your expanded tummy without pulling up the length too much. The top is available in sizes 8 - 18 and you just buy the size you would normally be pre pregnancy.
Price
This top was priced very reasonably for £9.99 which was great and I also got a 10% NUS discount - even better! I don't like spending a lot of money on a top which technically will last me a couple of months but I really did want something new for my nights out and this was definitely affordable.
Final word
I love this top and will be wearing it as much as possible before and just after giving birth. Sometimes you just don't feel nice when you are pregnant as it feels like your body belongs to someone else and although people tell you that you're blooming it just feels like blooming huge to you!
