“ Brand: H&M / Type: Maternity Trousers „
With this super warm summer we have had I desperately needed some new maternity wear which was cool enough for me to wear and be comfortable in through the short lived british summer. This isn't an easy task on the british high street as very few stores do nice, well priced maternity wear especially for the younger person (I'm 22). H&m are one of the few stores I found that do.
I bought these trousers from a large h&m store and they had a good range of maternity wear at great prices in sizes 6-24.
I bought these when h&m had a sale on so paid only £7 for them which was a total bargain. When full price they were £12.99 which is still a really good price for maternity trousers.
I was attracted to the bright pink shade that I bought them in. The trousers are a super soft jersey fabric but have a decent amount of stretch in them. I am usually a uk size 14 and got these in a 16 and they fit me perfectly still at 30 werks pregnant and I still have room in them for my ever expanding bump. That is another thing I love about these; they are over the bump in style which I always finds gives me more support over my tummy and feels more secure too. The bump band is supporting without feeling constricting round my middle which is the last thing you want when heavily pregnant.
The leg length is perfect on me and falls about half way up my calf which is great for three quarter lengths, I'm average ish height of 5ft 7ins. They may be a little bit of an odd length if you were any shorter, although going down a size may work.
They have a tie under the bump which to be honest I don't really think is necessary, it doesn't add anything to the trousers and just is a pain to tie and untie for wearing and washing.
I've frequently washed these and usually use a 40 degree wash and they are totally fine with this, I've had no fading at all in the colour. I also tumble dry and iron them with no problems are all, no shrinkage has occured.
Overall I've been really impressed with these trousers from h&m, they fit great and wash really well too. The only thing I would change is the tie under the bump. 4 out of 5 stars.
Although I am only 16 weeks pregnant, I look like I am about to drop and have needed to wear maternity clothes for the last 6 weeks. For some reason it is extraordinarily difficult to find maternity wear on any High Street in my local area and so I have had to resort to searching online. One of my favourite finds has to be H&M, who sell a range of maternity wear in sizes ranging from 10-12(Small) to 22-24 (Extra Large). Among the items I bought were these ¾ length trousers, which are available in two colours (black or grey), costing £12.99 a pair. While my normal clothing size is a 20, as I am already so big, I decided to buy these in the largest size, which is 22-24 and already having several pairs of black leggings I picked the grey.
The trousers are made of a lightweight, jersey-like material, similar to that that jogging bottoms are made from. Consisting of 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane, the material has a nice stretch, which holds it's shape well, especially at the knees. Design-wise the trousers are fairly basic, but still a little more stylish than a pair of basic leggings. Despite being described as ¾ length, with my 5'2" height and short legs they are more of a cropped length, with each leg finished off with a wide cuff. The cuff is stretchy enough to not cut off the blood flow even when my lower legs have swollen due to fluid retention. The cuff can also be folded under to change the length of the leg from cropped (on me) to a true ¾ length.
Rather than being under-bump (which I find very uncomfortable) these trousers feature an over the bump waistband with extra-wide ribbing for comfort. I have to say that these are extremely comfortable to wear, the material is nice and soft on my bump and has plenty of stretch to fit over the biggest of bumps. At the bottom of the over -the-bump section there is an elasticated drawstring, that can be used to tighten the waist if necessary. The trousers can be machine washed at 40C and while I wouldn't actually recommend it, my pair have survived a cycle in the tumble drier.
I find these trousers extremely comfortable to wear, unlike under-bump trousers they do not dig into the bottom of my bump and so annoy the baby either. The material they are made from is incredibly soft against my skin, even after several washes and there is no sign of bobbling or fading either. Just like any other pregnant woman I find it uncomfortable enough without clothing adding to the discomfort, which means that these trousers have been getting a lot of use over the last few weeks. I love the fact that the material is lightweight, I find that I tend to overheat quite easily and so can't wear trousers or leggings made of thick or heavy material. I also find these trousers fairly versatile, they go well with almost any colour T-shirt or vest top (although maybe not with grey tops) and I also wear them with a lightweight denim dress.
Although I would personally consider these to be more leggings than trousers, I cannot recommend them enough. They are incredibly comfortable, wash up well and are versatile enough to be a staple in my wardrobe. My only slight quibble is that at £12.99 they are nearly twice the price of other maternity leggings in my wardrobe. Even so I am giving them four stars out of five as I will be buying another pair in the very near future.
