      Spend a few £'s more!!

I'm currently seven months pregnant. My bump isn't that large (thankfully) and I am trying to make it to my due date buying only essential items maternity items. I've bought a couple of dresses two sizes larger than my usual size (none maternity) and was looking to purchase maternity leggings to wear underneath in order to provide my bump with some support. Most high street stores have a limited maternity range, I found that Matalan appeared to have a more variety. When I spotted their black over the bump maternity leggings for just £8.00 per pair, I bought some in my usual clothing size. After trying my usual stretch test, pulling the garment every which way in order to ascertain its 'stretchability' they appeared to have quite a lot of give in them whilst the fabric itself remained firm returning to its original shape quickly. The fabric is composed of 95% viscose and 5% elastane. I didn't try on the leggings as obviously the bump is constantly changing and therefore I expected the product to change with me! I think I was asking too much... On the first wear, the leggings appeared to be a good fit, long enough in the leg and high enough to cover the bump completely. They were also very quite stretchy and very comfortable. Unfortunately, within about an hour I began to notice a general loosening of the fabric around my bump and a short time later around the back of my legs and my bottom! Thankfully I was only wearing them around the house and was able to pull them up as they began falling down. It seemed the more I pulled them up - the more they fell down, so much for my shop 'stretchability' test!! At one point my bottom was half uncovered! I thought a wash and a tumble dry might shrink them enough to make them wearable but sadly no. On the one occasion I wore them again by accident (at home!!) - they were so baggy I was able to gather the excess fabric at the waist and tie a hair bobble to it to hold the leggings in place. Not the kind of fashion statement I would like to make on a regular basis! On reflection, I should have returned them to Matalan but it is not a store I shop in very often due to its inconvenient location. £8.00 for a pair of maternity leggings - too good to be true? In this case most definitely!!
