I brought these trousers just over a year back when I was pregnant with my second child. I still had a lot off my maternity clothes from my previous pregnancy, but I need a pair of black trousers for work as I was unable to fit into the pair supplied to me. I paid £19.99 and this is still the current price online. I thought these under the bump ones would be ideal, as I was haven't problems with over the bump trousers as I was having to pull them up all the time.
I went for my usually size and length trousers and found they fitted fine. There's a variety off trouser sizes and length on the website and in store, so there is something there for everyone all shapes and sizes.
The trousers themselves are smart looking, they are the pull-up type of trousers. I found that they fitted well, the under bump stretch is a few inches big, and worn with most tops you can't not see it. They have two small buttons at the front which make them look a little bit more nicer rather than just plain trousers. The material is smooth and nice feeling to your skin. There is also flair to the bottom off the trousers giving them an extra touch. They are made out of 100% Polyester
With it being a under bump on I want too sure if these would dig into me, but I never had any problems like that. I did mainly wear these for work where I sat down for 8 hours a day and didn't have any problems with them digging or pulling, the only thing I found that was during the end of the pregnancy they started to get a little tight around the leg area but I think that was mainly due to me putting on weight around my legs.
I wash these 3 times a week for around 5 months and they washed really well and didn't need much ironing. I would have kept these but unfortunately my iron actually burned them so I had to throw them away, but as if happened after pregnancy I wasn't very bothered as I felt I got my money's worth out of these.
I have worn these after pregnancy as well for a month while I was still losing my pregnancy weight and then they still felt comforty.
I would recommend these as I thought they are a great budget trousers if you don't want to spend too much on clothes which will be worn for 9 months.
While I was pregnant with my second child I bought a lot of my maternity clothes from New look. When a close family member passed away I found myself needing some smart black trousers for the funeral, so I made my way to new look. I came across the New look under bump maternity trousers, and at £12 decided to buy them.
I went for my usual size 12 and found them to fit perfectly. They were long enough for legs, fitted nicely and the trousers flared a little at the bottom to make them look smart. The material is soft to the skin and at the top of the trousers is an elasticised band that sits under your bump. You cannot tell at all they are maternity trousers with a blouse covering the elasticised band they just look like normal trousers.
While I bought these trousers for a formal occasion I see no reason why they cannot be worn day to day. Matched with the right top they can be dressed as casual and could be worn at any time. With a blouse they can be smartened up a little so they are versatile in terms of style. The trousers are nicely fitted, but not too tight at the bottom and they flare just slightly. They look good on and I was hoping they would be comfortable too.
My huge problem and the reason I do not wear these trousers, is that the band that sits on the belly is very tight. They feel comfortable at first, a little tight but I hoped it was just because they were new and needed to stretch a little. I found after around an hour or so on my feet I could feel the band tightening on my bump. After a few readjustments I could make myself comfortable again, but a little while later the tightness would come back. As it was such an emotional day the last thing I was thinking about was my trousers, and when it came to changing for bed the relief on my stomach was very noticeable.
I had tried the trousers on in the shop before I purchased them, and originally tried on the size 14 as I like my clothes to be a little baggy in pregnancy for comfort. They were really big and while the waist band was comfortable the legs were very baggy and looked over sized. So it could not have been that I bought the wrong size, as other than the waist band it seems to be a good fit.
With my next pregnancy I was sorting through the clothes that would fit me, and stumbled across these. I thought that maybe as I was earlier in my pregnancy, and the bump was smaller they may fit better so added them to my maternity pile. Even at just three months pregnant I found they were uncomfortable and impossible to wear. Luckily this time I was at home so I could change them straight away. While I have only worn these trousers a hand full of times they have washed well for the few times they have been put through. I usually wash them on a low heat and I do put them in the tumble dryer without any problems.
I would not recommend these maternity trousers to anyone as they are just uncomfortable. I had bought them so that I could sit comfortably and look smart. I thought the soft band at the top of the trousers would help with comfort. Unfortunately the trousers are really uncomfortable and the band is actually the cause of the annoyance. New look have lots of variations of these trousers on their site including an over the bump version and some with slightly more detail. At £12 they are not expensive, but I just find them impossible to wear without them becoming too tight on my stomach.
I purchased these under the bump trousers when I was around six months pregnant and growing out of my pre pregnancy trousers. I was looking for something that looked smart but was also comfortable. My plan was to be able to get as many uses as possible out of these and wear them for work and for nights out.
The trousers are sold exclusively at New Look and when I purchased them (about six months ago) they were around £10 or £11. The trousers are made of polyester and look like a typical pair of black smart trousers. They have a ribbed cotton like waist that is designed to fit snugly under the bump. They have button details where the front pockets of the trousers would be and are of a pull on type. They have a small flare on the bottom (I would say they were boot cut but a bit more flared)
I was really looking forward to wearing these trousers to work as my uniform trousers had became way too snug and were starting to hurt. These looked like they would provide the comfort my waist was crying out for! I was very wrong.
I was expecting these would be like most maternity wear and if I bought my normal size, would fit. I purchased the size 12 I usually was. Some places fit perfectly but the waist was way too tight and uncomfortable and wouldn't sit right under my bump. It kept digging in in all the wrong places making wearing them for any length of time uncomfortable and sometimes downright painful! I did not have a bigger then usual bump, it was quite petite, so would assume this would be the case for most people.
The length is also an issue. I am slightly taller than average but usually the regular trousers are fine and look smart, however these were way too short for me. Not just in a slightly short, can get away with it way, they looked almost like capri pants and this is not a good look when wearing work boots as well!
On the plus side, they washed really well and were cheap. That is the best thing I could say about them. I didn't get to wear them enough to know if they wore well but judging from other New Look items I have purchased in the past, they would probably last well for the price.
I definitely wouldn't recommend these for someone looking for comfortable work trousers. I would suggest paying the extra as I did and getting another brand.
