Silent Night Impress Memory Foam Mattress Topper
by KabyemelaJ
Until recently, suffered from many things. One was an extremely uncomfortable mattress, very tough with no space for anything. For someone's natural position being the "foetus", on my side, I always wake up with a bad arm, with almost no oxygen in it at all! I decided, after being paraded with adverts and recommendations I ... decided to take a leap of faith and opt for a memory foam mattress topper.
It works very well, simply place it on top of your mattress, based on your mattress size. It's quite thick, and at my first night's sleep, I fell in love. I automatically went in to my favourite position, still fearing the worst, to find the mattress dip under my arm, perfectly supporting me. It is incredibly soft, but you won't fall in. It's also breathable, so you won't have a panic attack when you roll over, face on mattress! It's incredibly warm, and I fell asleep with what I recall as around 15 minutes. I woke up, not wanting to get out of bed, but when I did, the foam quickly returned to its original position.
It is compatible with any body, and insomniac or not, this is a must buy! Read the complete review |

Regal Gold Memory Airflow
by lights84
After I had my first child I started suffering from back pain. During a week-long visit to my mother in law's house I found that my back tension improved while staying in her bed, which I put down to the mattress as I was still carrying little one around as often as ever.
After returning home and lying on our own mattress it ... felt like lying on the floor and trying to sleep there. So we decided to invest in a Memory Regal mattress instead, as we were due to get a new one anyway. Memory foam is a must in our family as my husband and I both suffer from allergies, and it is usually hypo-allergenic with anti-microbial properties.
The Dreams Memory Regal Gold Airflow mattress is marketed as a luxurious mattress and I can't disagree there. It feels firm but bouncy when you lie on it and apparently the memory foam was designed by NASA. This mattress is 10 inches in depth with soft hand tufted top. The brand claims that the mattress helps to reduce water retention. I can't comment on any of these things except that the depth is apparent; when I lie on this mattress I feel like I am sinking into layers of firm blankets, rather than a hard base or feeling springs as with our last mattress.
The Regal mattress certainly lives up to it's name. I feel like royalty when I lie on it. It is firm enough to help me straighten my back at night, though it took me a while to learn to sleep in it on my side. On our previous mattress my arm would sink into it a bit when I lay on my side, so I'd end up sleeping with my head curled downwards. This is actually a terrible posture to sleep in. On the Regal mattress, I can't lie that way without feeling supremely uncomfortable. I have to lie on my side with a straight spine and use my pillow properly instead of bunching it up under my head.
This mattress will set you back at least £119.99, depending where you buy it from. I don't think that's too steep a cost for a good night's sleep every night, improved posture, and as far as mattresses generally cost anyway. We bought our's from a mattress stockist online, but be careful if you use one of these as some of them sell mattresses that mimic Dreams brand but aren't actually legit. The price includes a 5 year warranty though I can't imagine we will ever need to trade the mattress; it is sturdy and thick enough that I doubt even a great weight could break it or damage it properly.
For these reasons, I give it 5 stars. Read the complete review |

Ikea Sultan Tarsta
by intejoes
A mattress topper was one of the things I got during my pre-delivery Ikea spree.
My mother was coming over to help with me with my baby and I had to get something for her to lie down on. This was a bit of a problem as she has had backache for a long time and prefers to sleep on a really hard surface, sometimes even without a ... bed. I considered a lot of options like futons and chair beds, but I didn't really see any that seemed worth the price. Finally I ended up getting a single bed with an under bed.
The next problem was finding a bed that would suit her. I was looking around for a really hard bed for quite some time, and I didn't know about mattress toppers which was why I was pleasantly surprised to find this mattress topper at Ikea for £40. I knew that this would be perfect for her.
The intended purpose of a mattress topper is obviously to put on top of a mattress to prevent it getting stained and damaged from your sweat and dirt and the like, but we ended up using it as a mattress. If you are looking for a soft squishy bed to fall onto, obviously this is not the thing, but for people with back problems it is quite a perfect solution.
After my delivery, I have developed backache as well and now that my mother has left, I end up sleeping on this one quite often.
The dimensions are: 200x90 cm, and 4cm thick. 4cm is nothing compared to the average mattress, but
I find it good enough. The mattress topper is basically two layers of polyurethane foam with an outer covering. The ticking is made of 52% polyester and 48% cotton, with a protective lining of polypropylene.
It is grey coloured and has a zip that runs all around, so you can remove it if needed. You can see a white lining inside and the foam.
The care instructions that come along with the product state that you shouldn't wash it or clean it in any way, in essence, to discard it when it goes bad. I'm not sure I agree with this. The white lining on the inside of the ticking does look a bit fragile, but the ticking itself looks strong and capable of withstanding a wash. I haven't washed it , but I have had numerous accidents with my baby on it and have had to wipe it with water. You can see where the water has dried out and left a mark, but there doesn't seem to be any material damage.
The only problem I have had is that I ended up breaking the bed base when I stood on the bed once. I have a slatted bed base and I suppose it is not meant to be stood on, especially as the mattress topper is quite thin. And of course, the mattress topper is not meant to be a mattress. Anyhow, I dont stand on it any more and nothing's broken since.
I actually prefer to sleep on this one than my proper bed, and it was a forty quid well spent. Read the complete review |
