WHAT IS IT? A mattress that is made by Silentnight. Ultimate is a collection of mattresses, the mattress I have got is the Melbourne mattress in the double size but the same one is available in king size. THE DESIGN My mattress has got stripes and checks in orange and cream shades. It is not very attractive I do not think but I always use a sheet so do not have to look at it very often expect when I am changing my bed sheets. It is not very thick but there is a big label on it that says there are special springs inside so it does not need to be thick to be comfortable. COMFORT I do not think this mattress is very comfortable and the claims it makes are not honest. My husband is a lot heavier than me and so I was interested that the springs would stop him weighing the mattress down and me from rolling over onto his side of the bed. This is not true and there is no difference and I can always still feel myself rolling when my husband gets in and out of bed. The springs dig into my flesh also and that is not a good thing from a brand like Silentnight who always say about how comfortable their mattresses are. I am only light so do not feel it as much as my husband but it is bad enough to sometimes leave marks on my skin in the morning, the uncomfortable springs are so bad that they wake me up in the night and I do not like that and will be glad when we get a new mattress. WHAT I THINK I do not like this mattress and am very glad that we are using it only for temporary because I cannot get a good nights sleep in bed now. It is a double bed size mattress and I have not used my measuring tape but it fits my standard double bed size bed with no gaps on any of the edges and no overhang either. The double bed fitted sheets fit it and are not too tight or loose when I have made the bed. It is heavy so I have to struggle when I turn the mattress over if my husband is not there to help me. I turn the mattress often because that helps the springs to not be too uncomfortable for the first and second night. I wipe it with a cloth that is only a little bit damp and vacuum the mattress because I am scared of the thought of dust mites, the mattress has not got any marks or stains on it and it does not discolour when I have wiped it with water. My baby daughter dropped juice on the mattress when I was changing the bed yesterday so it did not have even a sheet on to protect it, it was quite a lot of juice so I had to clean the area using detergent as well as water and it cleaned up very easily and has not left any marks on the mattress now it has dried fully. ANYTHING ELSE This mattress in double size costs about £120 and that is a lot of money for how uncomfortable it is, I am glad I have not got to sleep on it for very much longer because it is making me feel tired and aching in the morning. 2 Dooyoo Stars.
When we managed to get the money together for a new mattress we went to Archer's Sleep Centre online as they tend to have really good deals. We only wanted a Silent Night mattress as we have always used the brand aside from once and the mattress that time was absolutely terrible and was the reason we needed a new mattress! We came across this Ultimate mattress and after reading the reviews for it we decided that it was the one we needed. We went for the mattress in the double size and we paid £190 for it. When it arrived, I was absolutely giddy with excitement - everyone who has had a bed with the springs coming through will know exactly what I mean! It came packaged in protective plastic and was beige in colour with the Silent Night logo and name of the mattress sewn into the bottom of the mattress. One of the things that drew us to the mattress is that it has Silent Night's mira-coil springs which offer you more support for your back and also it has enough support in the bed so you don't roll into the person sharing the bed with you at night time! According to the Archer's website, the mattress also has increased central support which we took to mean that the bed would be firm but comfortable and wouldn't sag as time went on. The mattress is 27cm deep which was a whole 6cm more than our last mattress! It looked thick and just looked very comfortable. The mattress was quite heavy and refused to bend much when we were moving it up our narrow staircase. And it took a little bit of time to get into the bedroom as it was so inflexible but I took this as a good thing because it gave the impression of a sturdy, no nonsense mattress. Sleeping on this mattress for the first time was just a dream. I felt supported and comfortable. The first night we had the mattress was the best nights sleep I had had in absolutely ages. I was actually constantly giggling for about ten minutes when my husband and I first got in it because I had not been used to such comfort! The mattress, I thought, was fairly cheap considering it is a Silent Night mattress. I can honestly say it is the best mattress we have ever purchased and definately worth every penny.
I bought this mattress in a sale and it wasn't a case of choosing a mattress by comfort or springiness it was simply "I need a sofa today, andi need it cheap" especially after my old mattress had fallen to pieces. This was a fantastic value mattress, and so far no problems with back pain, or dodgey springs breaking in the middle of the night. The mattress is a little springy but isn't what you'd call bouncy. I like a hard bed, I sleep on my front and side so anything like that is perfect for me but if you sleep on your back and want lots of comfort for your spine you should consider something with a little more give and bounce. Sleeping on this mattress is relatively comfy for me personally but for a bargain mattress you can't really complain, other high end mattresses like memory foam ones are a million times conifer but when on a budget you have to live with what you've got. The mattress is very thick and the material isn't some cheap fabric they threw on top, it's of good quality, tough, and so far I haven't had any hole in it. The stitching is also very tight around the edges with most of it being visible from the outdside. The sides are a little rough to touch and aren't as smooth as my old mattress but still don't feel exceptionally coarse or sharp. This is also a very easy to use and set up mattress, just stick the sheets on and you're done, none of this ripping 6 labels off nonsense, there's on guarantee leaflet (important) and a couple labels which are held on by plastic string. These pull off very easily without damaging the material. The material is very easy to clean because a simple wash down can be done in minutes, and it dries outside in the sunshine very quickly. I have never had any springs breaking or material ripping which is the main part for me, something which I appreciate from a mattress in this price range.
I knew when I could feel the springs on My prevous bed that it was time for a new one. It hadnt cost a lot of money so it had only lasted four years and to be honest it was never very comfortable anyway. I decided to have a look in courts,as they had a sale on,I thought I might be able to have a better bed if I found one in the sale,as courts did seem to have reduced their normal prices by quite a bit. Looking around I didnt find choosing a bed easy.I wanted it to be comfortable and hard wearing and long lasting. There were beds with drawers underneath, others with cupboard and sliding doors, these I avoided.Past experience sorted that one out.while messing about with my ex-husband I had fallen onto a bed with drawers under and the wooden slates had snapped, on closer inspection it was so flimsy made and the wood was super thin. Not strong enough for me. So after making sure no one was looking for fear of embarressing myself,I laid down on a bed that caught my eye,as I wanted to see if it was comfortable. It was so I bought it. The bed was made by silentnight ultimate collection.Normally £799 in the sale for £359. It has a no roll together feature which actually works. Now if My partner ends up in the middle of the bed I dont feel as if I am falling off a cliff !!if you know what I mean. The mattress is quite firm which is what I wanted.I find it really comfortable. There is padding between you and the springs so you dont feel them at all. The cover is a nice design, the material has a slight silky feel to it,but not to slippery like others where the bottom sheet slides off during the night. The whole bed is definately good quality, its well made. There was a new rule made for my children when this bed arrived,no bouncing allowed on mummys bed now,so hopefully it should last a long time. After it had been delievered some paper work came through the post informing me that it had a five year guarantee on it.Cant be bad !!
Silentnight's Unique Miracoil technology utilises continuous spiral springs for consistent support and no roll-together, regardless of your weight. The mattress comes with modern medium-loft micro quilted covers, additional layers of fillings and padding, and is suitable for bedsteads. Increased support in central third.
