Sony MDS JE530:
... Sony minidisc deck MDS-JE530S has all your minidisc needs for less than £130 and it doesn't look too bad either. The original came in black but now you can get it in silver as well. There are many functions on this deck; all the normal play, stop, record, etc that you would expect plus editing functions for cutting out bits (milliseconds) of tracks, joining tracks together and rearranging tracks on the mini... Technics SJ-MD150 ... separates have always pleased me. They look great, they sound great and they seem to last forever with no apparent degradation. This Mini-Disc player is no exception. It offers easy hook-up to my CD unit via an optical cable (supplied) and normal audio cables to my stereo receiver. I have the option of recording from the radio via analog inputs, in mono or stereo, and digital quality from my CD collection. Who needs cassettes anymore? This is digital heaven! It's near perfect! I say 'near' because it does have one flaw, unfortunately. When you record something to Mini-Disc, you have to create a table of contents (TOC) in order for your recording... Sony MDS JE530 ... having a portable MiniDisc recorder (Sony MZ-R70) for some months I decided to go for a deck as well. One may ask, why bother spending all this money on a deck, when a decent portable recorder has all the necessary functions, plus it's much smaller. Well, there are few things that decks generally do better: Better sound quality - here we are talking mainly about the DAC (digital to analog converter). A top of the range MiniDisc deck would have more sophisticated DAC and hooked to a analog amplifier will sound better than a portable. MDS- JE530 sounds considerably better than the MZ- R70 hooked to the same amplifier, although I couldn't find any quality d... Read the full review: MiniDisc player, now at a mini price by schmams |

Sony MDS JE520 ... have regular access to a Sony MDS-JE520 and have found it so EASY TO USE! Due to poor eyesight, I often find that small or dim displays are a pain to use. With this unit, the display is so bright and easy to see. As for use of advanced functions, this deck makes them available in an easy-to-understand manner. If you use REPEAT or change PLAY MODE, the unit confirms each action by flashing up a brief message. This came in handy when I was at the church who owns this deck that I use. The unit was being used to play background music before the service and it was set to Shuffle-Play mode, but was acting as though it was "stuck" on a particular song. I drew atte...
