Sony MDS S40 ... particualr deck is identical in specification to the MDSJE330, but in a much smaller box (I've done a write up on the '330 elsewhere on 'dooyoo'). Whilst I wouldn't buy this unit myself, if I wanted a system for my bedroom or for duplicating my demo discs of my own music, I might buy it solely for duplication purposes, as it is one of the cheapest decks on the market. It is also (depending on the outlet) about twenty quid less than the '330 (don't buy it from index, as it is eight quid more than other retailers). Sony MDS JE330 ... entry level machine from Sony isn't much cop as far as a seperates system. Sound quality is decent but being the most basic model, it is ill-equipped for the price and is basically a box of fresh air - I have seen better equiped personal decks than this. It is over priced for what it is and the accessories supplied aren't much cop, either - the cheapest of cheap remote control batteries, an instruction manual for different models (which makes you feel you've bought the wrong machine as the others are so much better). Sony MDS JE530 ... i bought the sony MD deck it was mainly for the feature of pitch control this works very well, but what like most about it is the quality of the sound, in recording as well as playback. Comparing with other models labeling the tracks was is very easy to do on this model, easier to do it on the remote control as it uses the style of a mobile phone.
