Not bad, I've had better though!

When it comes to ham in my house it gets devoured at the rate of knots! We all love it, particularly on sandwiches so once a week Mum gets a packet of what she refers to as 'decent' ham. She does also buy economy packets of ham to tide us over too but like I say we do usually get some type of premium ham as a bit of treat. Enter this one a couple of weeks back! The Packaging: Black, plastic square tray that is rather large and over that there is a peel back clear plastic cover. On that I'm told it is Ashfield 'Deli' Smoked Ham 'Reformed pork, cured, cooked and smoked with added water. I'm then told it is low in fat and contains no artificial colours, that there are 15 slices in the pack, the ingredients are listed as is an at a glance nutritional chart and a more in depth one, the weight is stated which is 320g, the best before date is displayed along with the price (which is £1.99) and contact details for Aldi are listed. I like being able to see most of the ham slices through this, would appreciate the information given to be more spaced out opposed to all on the front and the plastic covering doesn't seal back up so well but all in all it's ok. The Ham: Rather large, round but very thin (wafer) slices of light pink ham. They look a little slimy but they do contain added water I guess to preserve them. Taste wise they are nice enough but if you want a meaty tasting sandwich I suggest folding a slice up (in small slices of bread) or using two slices of the ham otherwise the meat gets lost in the bread taste wise type of thing. It tastes of pork, it tastes rather smoked and it isn't too sweet or too seasoned, it's actually rather nice tasting and moist. Not too moist though. I don't like taking out ham out of it's container/packet and there sits a load of water left behind. You don't get that with this to be fair to it at all. It offers good value, nice large slices but could do with being a tad thicker just to give a little more taste but if you like smoky, wafer thin ham with no fat in sight or taste then try this by all means! Nutritional Information Per Slice: (Approx 21g): Calories 22 Sugar: 0.3g Fat: 0.6g Saturated Fat: 0.2g Salt: 0.5g Only available in Aldi stores for £1.99 a packet.
