I dont like mackerel and as soon as i knew it was there that was all I could taste and i think it's wrong of Asda to make out like this is pure crab paste when really its a mixture of different fish. It tastes very strong of fish but has a bit of a sweet taste that i didn't like. I tried it on some crackers to see if this would make it taste better but it didn't and this is when mum gave the paste to the cat....more

My mum brought some of this when she went shopping last week cos she knows I like crab but its so horrible that she ended up giving it to the cat mixed with his dry food and even he didn't like it. It only cost about 50p for a little jar. I thought it was too sticky and even put a hole in my bread when i spreaded it. It has a strong smell of fish that put me off even though I usually like the smell of things like this. It is a horrible orange colour and has a bit of an oily feel to it that I didn't like. Now I'm sure a lot of people will be thinking ergh, crab paste? That's disgusting! I'd usually think the same as well - I hate seafood and I only eat the basic fish (cod, tuna, salmon, etc.) but I actually, surprisingly, really love crab paste. The first time I tried it was when I was younger and I think my grandad probably made me a crab paste sandwich without telling me first what was in it. There's no way I would have gone anywhere near it if he'd have told me it was crab paste! But it tastes really great and now I often have it in my sandwiches.
