“ Brand: Asda / Type: Meat „
Mr Lools and I are still on an evening munching on Asda Party food. One of my favourites this week is Asda Marinated Chicken Skewers. ***Packaging*** Asda Marinated Chicken Skewers are part of the party food range. The packaging of the skewers is branded consistently with the Asda party food range; a deep red cardboard box with a very festive look to it. There are 12 chicken skewers per pack. 12 Marinated Chicken Skewers is written in white font and there is an image of the cooked product on the front of the packaging. Inside of the box the chicken skewers are in two sealed plastic bags. Six skewers of the same flavour in each. Therefore you do not need to store the product in the cardboard box if you are running out of space in the freezer as the sealed plastic bags are much easier to store than the bulky cardboard packaging. The cooking instructions are on the packaging. The chicken skewers should be cooked at 200 degrees for 12-14 minutes. ***Price*** For a pack of 12 the price is £1 from Asda, the same price as the other party food from the Asda range. The same price to what Tesco charges for their chicken skewers from their own brand party food range. ***Marinated Chicken Skewers*** The chicken skewers come in two flavours (six of each) Sweet Chilli Chilli & Lime Each piece of chicken is about 4cm long by 2cm wide on a thick wooden skewer which makes the food easy to eat as you can actually hold onto the skewer. Once cooked each chicken skewer looks like three small bite sized pieces of chicken covered in a marinade and "squished" together so the chicken pieces have actually fused into one piece of chicken. The Sweet Chilli skewers have an orange/ red type colour to them where the Chilli and Lime flavour have a yellow/ green colour sauce / coating covering them. Taste wise the marinated chicken skewers have a lovely taste. The Sweet Chilli has quite a spicy tomato type taste with a tangy initially taste and a spicy aftertaste. This is quite a strong taste but not too spicy or overpowering and you can still taste the juicy chicken the marinade is covering. The Chilli and Lime flavoured skewer is more of a "Thai" inspired marinade flavour wise. I was slightly sceptical as I am not a fan of Thai flavours but I found this very pleasant to eat. The lime flavour is quite a subtle aftertaste, once the spicy chilli flavour has died down. Both of the flavours of chicken skewer have quite a strong flavour when you are eating the chicken, but the chicken is very juicy and moist and is not completely overpowered by the marinade. What I also enjoyed is that after eating I was not left with a strong after taste in my mouth. **Nutritional Information** Per chicken skewer 38 calories 0.8g fat From the Asda party food range the chicken skewers are one of the lowest calorie options which makes a good choice for dieters. Suitable for coeliacs ***Overall*** Definitely a product to buy in for your party buffet or in my case a great evening snack. The chicken used on the skewers are lean, and the chicken is marinated in tasty flavours. Both of the flavours are tasty but not overpowering. I personally am not a fan of Thai inspired marinades however I find the chilli and lime flavour skewer pleasant. Great food, great price.
