Asda Sausage Rolls come in a plastic tray and are covered in plastic wrapping. I think it's true to say that they don't exactly look luxury sausage rolls, but I bought them for a kids party and so I wasn't too bothered about having the most luxurious looking sausage rolls in the world since kids will eat just about anything as long as it's not green and good for them! There are five sausage rolls in the packet and each packet cost £1.20 - and so that equates to 24p per sausage roll - which actually when I broke it down seemed quite expensive and more than I would have thought (but I never work this out when I buy things!).

Having said this, the sausage rolls are quite large and chunky - but I do have to say that the majority of the sausage roll is pastry rather than sausage - and there is actually quite a big gap around the sausage and the pastry. The pastry is quite thick and heavy and isn't delicate or very tasty actually. I like pastry to be light, airy and flaky - but this certainly isn't the case with these sausage rolls. The sausages are made of pork and seem to be of a fairly decent quality because there isn't any gristle or course bits in the sausage. However, I did find the sausage to be a little peppery and this was a bit overpowering and took away from the taste of the pork rather than complimented it.

I did find that these sausage rolls were better if they were heated up rather than eaten cold - simply because the pastry was less cloy when eaten like this. They only took 15 minutes to heat up in the oven.

Overall, I do think these sausage rolls are not brilliant quality and I've certainly had better. The sausage part is fine, but the pastry is just too thick and heavy.
