Advantages: Everything

Disadvantages: None at all!

One of the things I occasionally treat myself to is salmon. However if I buy salmon I always manage to dry it out and its never as good as other peoples I've tasted!

So the other week when I spotted this Simply Salmon fish dish from Birds Eye costing £3.00 for two portions of it bagged up and ready to cook I was unable to resist it and I got it in for me and my mate with a nice freshly done salad as a simple and quick meal.

The Packaging:

Well the salmon comes in a box and on the front of that box we are told that it is Birds Eye 'Bake To Perfection', 2 Wild Salmon Fillets and there is a picture of the salmon on there then on the back of the box we are told the ingredients and allergy advice, there is a full nutritional chart stated, the weight is given (which is 280g in this case), cooking instructions are also given and contact details for Birds Eye are listed. Nice, classy packaging this is and its of course informative enough too.

The Fish:

Well like I have mentioned you get two pouches so individual portions of a light pink slice of salmon fillet in each which is a good size and is nice and thick. I placed mine in the oven in the sealed up pouches for the recommended 25 minutes cooking time and when I got them out of the oven the bags had inflated and the salmon had a poached appearance to it with some buttery sauce to it which was rather thin and not too greasy looking. I popped the bag first with an oven glove on and then cut it open and popped it on a plate each and served it with the pre prepared salad.

This was quite simply really moist, delicately flavoured fish. It wasn't mushy, there was no skin and all of it was edible and tasty. The sauce within this was slightly fishy as the sauce had helped to cook the fish and it had a nice and not too rich buttery taste to it with a very slight tangy and not too strong flavour of lemon to it and it was plentiful.

For a piece of salmon to cook from frozen in 25 minutes flat and look good and certainly taste it I thought £1.50 per serving was excellent value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It only contains 225 calories per portion and 7.1g of saturated fat which I think is great for such a decent sized portion of fish with such a nice buttery sauce and I will certainly purchase this again in the future I'm sure as this won me over!

Available in all good supermarkets etc.

Summary: Cook with ease!
