Advantages: Good quality chicken

Disadvantages: Not keen on the Reggae Reggae sauce

I wouldn't usually go for these but my husband bought a pack so I thought I would give one a try last night.

These are very similar to Birds Eye's original chicken chargrills except these ones are coated in Reggae Reggae sauce which gives the chicken some extra flavour and spice.

The sauce is the actual Reggae Reggae sauce that you can buy in a pot by itself. It was created by Levi Roots who presented the sauce on Dragon's Den and Birds Eye have teamed up with him to make this product. The sauce was originally made in Jamaica by Levi's grandmother so it has the exotic flavour of a spicy jerk glaze.

As with all Birds Eye products, the chicken is of great quality and taste being very soft and white once cooked and delicious in taste. Each chargrill takes around 20 minutes to cook in the oven and they go perfectly with any other spicy ingredient.

The Reggae Reggae glaze on top is what gives the chargrill it's flavour and it's quite spicy and very flavoursome. To be honest though, I wasn't too keen on the flavour. I do like a bit of spice but the flavour of this was just a little strange for me. This was the first time that I have tasted the Reggae sauce as I haven't tried it by itself but it's not like any other sauce that I've tried before. There's a distinct exotic flavour to it but I can't say that I liked it much personally.

These cost £1 in most supermarkets although they normally retail at £1.69 which I think is way too expensive for a pack of only 2 chargrills. My husband likes these and he's not usually keen on spicy food but I really wasn't impressed with them. The actual chicken chargrill was perfectly good but I didn't like the sauce on top so I'll definitely be sticking to the original chargrills.

Summary: Not a product of Birds Eye that I'll be eating again
